Hi!! I have the same problem with my rxv673...It's been 10 years hearing low dialogue and high surround sound. For that 10 years I was like already becoming a sound engineer doing research on my own receiver..lol... If I press on Movies like standard, spectacle for example the sound is low like it's hiding in the speaker...I will get low dialogue and high surround sound. If I change to music at 7 channel the sound gets more louder but sounds better than the Movie surrounds.
Use front presence speakers with dialogue at 2, dialogue lift at 5. Your voices now come from the center of the screen. I will never buy anything but yamaha (unless I have an acoustic transparent projection screen.) The most important thing you can do is match the front 3 speaker with no less than 4" woofers if ported otherwise it will stay in 120hz range which is obnoxious. You have a good receiver. Do 5.1.2. Huge improvement. I upgraded to aventage A6A. My neighbor now has yours...but is afraid. I know the post is old, but add the front presence. Anyhow, I've noticed Yamaha cuts down the rails on the surrounds so with that particular receiver you can boost those levels. Keep the surrounds a little higher (monoprice mounts) angle down 30 degrees or wherever you see that tweeter looking at you...your buddies will thank you. So now you add in the dynamic range control. It boosts the midrange/dialogue. Also run ypao and pick the manual setting and adjust your mids. You can copy results to the manual setting then tinker with the Q values and blend till you become insane like me. Like I said...that receiver from Costco is better than a lot, but you have to boost the surrounds. Most importantly, front presence. Trying to forget if I missed anything. The newer receivers have dsp modes that you can adjust like room liveliness room size and DSP levels for each surround decoder that dramatically improves output. I use Standard overlayed with Atmos... Receiver picks it, sometimes Auro 3D, but it will NOT raise dialogue like the movie theater. Have fun. Jacbri avs forums (amateur) Aventage A6A 5.1.4 JBL Studio 570x5 JBL studio 530 X4 (ceiling height) Musical sub I run my speakers at 60 hz with a Q of .500 it will lower that peak especially when using dynamic control (important to blend). Experiment, ignore the purists, become crazy. Report back.
Thank you! I've only done the first three tips, and they have already made a big difference!!
Thank you so much! Your recommendations made a huge difference in vocal clarity!
Wow, thanks a lot. This really helped!
Awesome. Ty for this!
I cant set a crossover to each individual speaker. Just one crossover settings
How you can raise the dialog volume if you have only front speakers? I don't have the "center spread" option, please help me to enable that option
Than you
