That works great for synthetic rugs. If it had been wool - make sure you use a quality wool safe product. Also, keep rinsing until the suds are gone. Soap causes rapid resoling.
Omg, this is fantastic! I have a large area rug 8x11 and I’ve been trying to find someone to clean it, for an estimate and I could only find ppl that come to clean indoor carpet, not area rugs. And I live in an apartment so I don’t have an area to clean it outside. But now, to save all that money.. I’m excited and ready to buy my own push broom! Thank you! This is common sense at its best!❤
Merci!! I am moving again into my own apartment and I’ll be taking my old rugs with me, but they’ve been never cleaned before, not once I got them, and not since they’ve been stored away in the shed of my parents house. So, ever since I got addicted to rug cleaning video’s, and making my to do list for the apartment, rug cleaning has become one of my to do points. Except I had no clue how to do this myself, now I do! So thank you, good thing there’s sunny weather this week where I’m from. So the perfect time to clean rugs and move house once more. 🥰
Why RUclips isn't recommending this video first is beyond me. Thank you for the informative video! Tip: If you add apple cider vinegar after your first rinse, you can stop the soapsuds from over forming and it'll rinse out much easier :) Tip #2: If you have pets and they've made your rug smell, then you can probably get away with using some laundry detergent, the carpet cleaner she used in the video, or for max strength - Amazon's Commercial Enzyme Cleaner (Be sure to spray (not mist spray not good to breath in) the rug a day before taking it to the car wash, and just rinse it out).
Preciate that Stack! When people Like, Comment, Share, etc. that stuff makes a huge difference and I'm just not getting enough of that, but this video has gotten a lot of traction recently, so I'll thankful for that.
You're a life saver, thank you. Of course I can use $130 any day. I just called Mark Gonsenhauser in Virginia Beach he quoted me $244 for a 10 x 8 area rug. Sunday, I am doing it myself at a car wash, thanks to you. Thanks again, Queen!!!
You're a genius for real. I have been putting this off for a long time because this is one of my least favorite chores but now I'm excited to try this. Thank you!
This is an absolutely brilliant idea! I don't have a car, but it's inspired me to take my rug up to the roof terrace and use a hose to clean it your way. :)
Thank you from France ! You are a life carpet savior. I would never thought using a car wash...Here, it's 25 euros per m² in a professional clean service, more expensive than my carpet at the end. You made my day 🙏.
It's crazy that this video popped up for me. Because yesterday, I did the same exact thing. Only because I work at a car wash and decided to see if power washing it work. The results are amazing
Great video. I have the same rug. Can’t wait until the weather is warmer. I don’t want to clean them in my driveway and have water and soap everywhere. The power brush/drill was next level!! But, what I will do is use the carpet rake before and after to get the carpet pile to stand up a bit more.
Wow, this is the first video I watch and I don't even know what else you do but you've got yourself a new subscriber! Your resourcefulness is impressive!
This is so brilliant, I don’t have a driveway and have been trying to figure out WHERE I can wash my rugs! Also, I saw a tip to dilute your shampoo with water in a watering can and use that to apply it :)
Yess this is exactly what i was looking for!! I’ve got a used rug that i’ve been saving for when i get to move out if my parents’ place. I just fell in love with it. But man it needs cleaning lol. Always had a hunch there was an easy enough way to do it myself but was never quite sure how. Didnt even think of a drill brush. Thank you!!!
I have a light fluffy area rug that I had rolled up and set aside because it needed cleaning. I thought my only option was to take it to the cleaners but I didn’t want to spend as much as the rug cost originally. Great idea to take it to the car wash! Thank you
Please keep doing these videos! I love the premise. It might take some time, but it will catch on eventually. I could easily see this becoming a tv show.
Thank you! Never though my to take it to the car wash. Tip for future cleaning I got from a professional: rinsing out 100% of the soap is extremely important or the dried soap acts as a wax that attracts and holds more dirt. I have done something similar on my deck and the rinse part takes forever so it is definitely good to not use too much soap. Thanks again!
Thank you so much I had been thinking about this for a long time since I took my rug out of storage and I didn't want anyone looking at me crazy 😂 Thank you that is exactly where I am going
Good video. Gotta make sure to run lots of clean water through the gun at the car wash before spraying the rug. The car wash soap will linger. Awesome vid.
I’m sure the owners of these car washes will be Very happy for the extra business washing rugs there will give them, especially if you go during a quieter time of the day. Great Job, Regina-- looks like a cordless drill can be a girls best friend. ❤❤❤😊😊😊
Wow...what an awesome video! Thank you for demonstrating the process from start to finish and for sharing your brilliant hack of a car wash station. The effort is SO worth the cost savings.
Girl you are a genius and your hair is very cute I am going to try this method now my question is how do you what do you put it in when you're taking it back home
I love THIS..I'm going to the car wash, but I can't buy the extra cleaning soap...they have soap in the car wash good enough...but will bring my BROOM, I don't have a drill thingy but it will be cleaner than it is NOW! Good idea...Thank you.
Great informative video, I'm thinking you must have a truck to bring the area rug to the car wash!? I have a 2010 Nissan Altima no way my 60x84" rug will fit in there, especially when its wet!
I love that you saturate the rug and rinse it thoroughly at the end. I watched 2 other similar videos and it was like a race to clean the rug in under 3 minutes 😮 If that’s all you’re gonna give it, why bother?
Great thank you very much! It’s summer time and where I live we have 100° plus perfect time to do my rugs. Just so you know you might want to try rinsing your carpet with vinegar this will help loosen any extra soap and will keep your carpet cleaner because residue will attract dirt. The vinegar smell will dissipate as it dries. I just found that on another video thought I’d share.
I’m so happy I found this video! I have a beauty living room rug I need to clean. Much bigger than yours but this makes so much sense! Heading to the car wash just at the corner from me
Ok so I've been going to the car wash to clean my rugs for years. Love that I'm not the only one. Multi use Brush, absolutely fantastic add to what I do already. You can also use apple cider Vinegar to rinse it out a tad bit easier. I'm a new subscriber as of now too btw.
No. I only clean the rug in the summer and give it plenty of time to dry. The sun and heat speed up the process so it's never an issue I've delt with. I've been cleaning my rugs, specifically these types of rugs, like this for years. I appreciate your question Alex 💯
who would have thought to use a car wash?! I use a rug / carpet cleaner, but this method works great! thanks for the tip. Your rug looks cleaner than brand new!
Thank you so much for your helpful video, you’re a genius!! I absolutely love you n your beautiful positive attitude n calming voice!! I shared your video with my daughter, sister n parents which we all appreciate very much having pets n lots of foot traffic we are constantly needing to clean our rugs n carpets even though we don’t wear shoes in our homes! God bless you n yours always, n take care!!🙏🏽🥰🙏🏽🥰🙏🏽
I need to do a big wool rug and I don't have a large concrete area to wash it. This is pretty brilliant. But it's a thick pile and I'm nervous to try but I wanna save the money too and boy it needs a cleaning.
Thank you ms. Funny I'm in my house cleaning my wall to wall carpet, just move in, and I'm mopping the dirt out my rug. But the rug's like you got I'm gonna do just that, Thank you.
Hello this was helpful. I was planning on washing out my rug in my driveway with a spray nozzle on a hose. I live in Texas and with temps of 100 degrees the rug will dry in no time flat! :)
Great tips! I have a pressure washer, but can't seem to get the cleaning product deep enough to get the 'stank' out. Going to try some Stanley Steamer pet odor remover and those drill brushes. I have every drill attachment but those! 🧹🧽🔫
Oh friend! I watched another video that had me thinking I needed a special brush! I def check what my two area rugs are made of, and can do this for the cost of the cleaner! Thanks!!!!!
Excellent video, but I would have hosed it down again after I hung it on the fence to remove more soap. Leaving soap in something will attract more dirt so it gets dirty faster. I have a 150-gallon LP tank outside, that I draped a rug over, and sprayed it down with my garden hose until no soap ran out. It takes a while to remove the soap.
I would try it but there is no sun to dry it where I live so it will stink... thats why it seems Worth it to pay proffesional,. Maybe if you have any tips?
Great video! But I hope you rinsed the rug a little longer and removed all the soap because it happened to me and I had to have the rug cleaned professionally. I thought about moving my rug to the driveway or even inside the garage to wash it with the power washer machine, but my husband did not want to move it because it is too heavy. :( So I decided to wash my 14 year old 14'x10' Persian rug that was never deep cleaned only vacuumed. I used my Hoover shampoo machine that has 4 circular brushes.. This rug has never been in high traffic areas, but it looked dull and flat. It did not feel soft either when waking on it without shoes. MY MISTAKE was putting too much on the machine. I spent about 8 hours trying to remove the soap and I could still see soap being sucked in by the machine. When dried, the rug had darker, softer and shinier areas where there was no soap and lighter, harder/crisper and dull areas where there was soap. My back already hurt so I gave up and called the professionals. I could not believe how expensive it was to deep clean a Persian wool rug that size ($700). That was a week ago. I am still waiting for it. It better looked like new for that amount of money :). I think I will shampoo it with little soap once a year to keep it clean and looking good longer.
This is my question as well bc I even with squeegeeing out most of the water I know that joint was hea-vy! 🥴 I still think this is top shelf resourcefulness though 🙌🏼
You're welcome! Yeah, the car wash is an excellent alternative for those without a pressure washer. I'll definitely be back there cleaning more rugs this summer 💯
That works great for synthetic rugs. If it had been wool - make sure you use a quality wool safe product. Also, keep rinsing until the suds are gone. Soap causes rapid resoling.
All great points, I definitely overdid it on the soap 😬🤦🏾♀️. Thank you for watching and giving your feedback Amy! 💯
You did great!!!! Keep us the good content!

1 year after this video and yes, I'm commenting, liking, and subscribed BEFORE I Even watched the video. This is great

I just LOVE your ingenious resourcefulness going to a car wash for this!
Thanks!
I never would have thought to use the broom as a squeegee, you saved me so much time!
🤯🤣💯💯
Exactlyyyyy. I’ve never seen anyone do that. It’s so smart!!!
OK, but flipping the push broom into a squeegee? Girl. ❤❤❤❤
RIGHT!! 🤣💯💯💯

Yessss Compu Spot!! I'm so glad this video helped you!💯 I love Va Beach; its my hometown ❤️
Did u try it?
How did it work?
This woman is smarter than any teacher I ever had
This is genius. I actually have a pressure washer and never thought of this method. Love it thank you!
You're welcome Angela! I'm glad this video found you 😊💯
Amazing! It took me five minutes to realize I live right next to a car wash. 🥳
Waiting for the weather in Chicago to get warm and stay warm and I am trying this, thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you! I was struggling to figure out where I was going to lay down a rug to get it cleaned. Genius!
You're a genius for real. I have been putting this off for a long time because this is one of my least favorite chores but now I'm excited to try this. Thank you!
You got it Kitsch!! 💯💯 Preciate you!

This is the smartest and most ingenious thing I have ever seen on RUclips. Thank you for sharing this with us. You just save me money.
This reminded me of a typical Saturday at home when my mum was alive😊
Aww, thank you for sharing that Noluyanda 😊
I cannot wait to do this! I've been contemplating throwing my fav rug away then I found this!!
I usually do mine in my driveway, but OMG woman I never thought of the car wash !! Genius, pure genius !! ❤❤❤ Thank you !
Had this idea in mind, but THANK YOU for proving how effective this is!!🤘🏽
Sure. I have been thinking of that too lately
Thats thinking outside the box. Never would've thought about carwash. Great video
Thank you Narrow minded, I appreciate you! 💯

It be like that sometimes 😆 thank you so much Maria, I appreciate you! 💯
Same!!!!
GREAT VIDEO! THAT PUSH BROOM.....IS "KEY"!! STOPS THE RUG FROM WRINKLING!
Preciate you Ray! 💯

Danielle, thank you for the kind and encouraging words; they really mean a lot. I sooo appreciate you 💯
❤❤❤
Good job!!! Very innovative . Plus, you don't have to buy a new rug; meaning, no rug goes to the landfill. Great job!
You handled this like a BOSS! Wow! Awesome idea! 🩷🌿

I would be discreet and go during off peak hours if you do this. I’m going to do this early before the morning rush hour.
My goodness! The best video I have found to know what to do to wash my rug and have it clean. It’s more economic of what you did.
Many thanks! I have a $100 8'x10' rug that would have cost me $300 to clean! Did this in 30 min, cost me $25!
Wow...what an awesome video! Thank you for demonstrating the process from start to finish and for sharing your brilliant hack of a car wash station. The effort is SO worth the cost savings.
Genius! I just got a 9x12 rug and was feeling overwhelmed! This saved the day
Did you try it
My dad would always use our driveway. They always came out nice clean and smelling fresh.
Girl you are a genius and your hair is very cute I am going to try this method now my question is how do you what do you put it in when you're taking it back home

I didn't know drill brushes were a thing. This will be a game changer. Thank you. Luckily I can do this at home.
Great thank you very much! It’s summer time and where I live we have 100° plus perfect time to do my rugs. It helps if you have a floor squeegy, which does better that the back of a broom. It also works great as a final step on hard flooring after a wash.
I spent $220 cleaning one area rug. This is genius. Doing this saturday!! For sure!
Thank you for this video!! Makes so much sense and way cheaper than paying someone. Will definitely use this idea.
I’m so happy I found this video! I have a beauty living room rug I need to clean. Much bigger than yours but this makes so much sense! Heading to the car wash just at the corner from me

Serious question~ are you ever concerned about the rug retaining any water and obtaining any mold spot while sundrying?
No. I only clean the rug in the summer and give it plenty of time to dry. The sun and heat speed up the process so it's never an issue I've delt with. I've been cleaning my rugs, specifically these types of rugs, like this for years. I appreciate your question Alex 💯
“ IM TRYNA TELL YA” so funny I love the content . Keep it up very cool
Preciate you Shane! 💯
Fab results!! What a great idea. I’m off to the car wash now!!! Thank you!!
I know that's right Deborah!! You're welcome 😊
Thank you for a great video. I will definitely clean my own area rug, thanks for the inspiration 😊
Love the cost breakdown. Time or $$$. Which one makes most sense for You 🤔. And never would have thought about the carwash. Ingenious...as Always! ✊🏿
who would have thought to use a car wash?! I use a rug / carpet cleaner, but this method works great! thanks for the tip. Your rug looks cleaner than brand new!
Thanks using this method right now to clean an area rug hope it works!
On my way to try this with my rugs right now, will update how it goes!!

So happy I found this video, after I was just stuggling to clean my area rug to the car wash 😂❤️
Genius idea. I'm going to do this as soon as the weather warms up 🙂
Girl, such a good idea!
Best youtube clip of the year !
Sue!! I feel the love - thank you!! 💯
Thanks for sharing. This video gave me the idea to borrow my parents power washer to clean my rug.
Thank you ms. Funny I'm in my house cleaning my wall to wall carpet, just move in, and I'm mopping the dirt out my rug. But the rug's like you got I'm gonna do just that,
Thank you.
Hello this was helpful. I was planning on washing out my rug in my driveway with a spray nozzle on a hose. I live in Texas and with temps of 100 degrees the rug will dry in no time flat! :)
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge as also by demonstrating by your example of cleaning example y your own rug!
Omg!!! You gorgeous genius. I’m doin it! 🙌👑
I don't have a yard. This is brilliant. Thank you!
Thank you Lafayette! My goal was to make cleaning your own rug an easy task for everyone. Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Great tips! I have a pressure washer, but can't seem to get the cleaning product deep enough to get the 'stank' out. Going to try some Stanley Steamer pet odor remover and those drill brushes. I have every drill attachment but those! 🧹🧽🔫
nice job! how long did it take to dry?
Oh friend! I watched another video that had me thinking I needed a special brush! I def check what my two area rugs are made of, and can do this for the cost of the cleaner! Thanks!!!!!
You're welcome Jennifer 💯
You did PMO! Thanks!
Car wash idea is genius!! Thanks!
Best one I’ve seen!
Kudos to you for teaching washing to others in a very interesting way. I hope I will succeed like you 🌹❤️😊
RCD, thank you so much!
Wow! Great idea-the car wash! Brilliant!
Thank you Jane; I appreciate you!
I just found this and a great big THANK YOU! Guess where I going tomorrow!!!!! It was very helpful!!
Brilliant! Thank you. My outdoor rug looks brand new.
I would try it but there is no sun to dry it where I live so it will stink... thats why it seems Worth it to pay proffesional,. Maybe if you have any tips?
Thanks I'll do my 2 rugs this weekday
So you rolled it up and put it in your car wet? How come you didn't use the dryer at the car wash?
How'd you get it home all wet?
This is my question as well bc I even with squeegeeing out most of the water I know that joint was hea-vy! 🥴 I still think this is top shelf resourcefulness though 🙌🏼
Such a great idea! And I love your pants and shoes ❤
Thank you very much. I have several rugs!
You're welcome Johnny!
I usually do it at the house, I didn't even think about the car wash. Thank you!!
You're welcome! Yeah, the car wash is an excellent alternative for those without a pressure washer. I'll definitely be back there cleaning more rugs this summer 💯
This is so smart. Thank you for the idea!
Thank you Holly!
Thanks for this❤
This is brilliant! Great channel.
Noel!! Thank you so much, I appreciate you 💯
Loved this video so much! Thank you!!
Yes ma'am I will save for later, thank you!!!
I LOVE this! You are so smart!!! Thank you so much!
Girrl I didnt even think to go to a carwash. So glad I clicked this video
This is next level though
