Ride the BRC Area 18 novice (90cm/2'9") pairs eventer challenge with Alex and Pigeon. Two poles knocked in the show jumping (oops) but clear and pretty fast around the cross country for 5th place :-)
she jumps so lovely
She was jumping really well yesterday... the knocked poles were the drivers fault as usual :)
Isa Caro I am pretty novice myself, especially with young horses! I think the most important thing is to not over-face your youngster as that could cause big problems for the future. I'd take it slowly and probably get out schooling a bit first (perhaps with a more experienced friend so your boy can follow now and then). Lots of people use hunting as a chance to show younger horses xc style fences at first. A small pairs comp might be good as a first xc run (again with a horse that is reliable xc). Hopefully by taking it easy you can build his confidence with every outing and he will find it fun. But you know your horse best - some are braver than others or more willing to trust etc! He might be a natural. Thank you for watching. Let me know how you get on :-)
Raymond Ashby Thanks for watching. This is one of my favourite courses and I was really pleased with Pigeon, especially as this was our first comp of the year... always good to know she has come through winter ready to get out galloping again! :)
Great video. That cross country looked like loads of fun - and Pigeon showed real class: up-for-it, nicely under control, quality GG
***** Thanks for watching! I record these with a GoPro HD helmet hero... my favourite gadget! :) x
Looking at this and quite a few off your other videos (p.s I love them) I have seen that Pigeon looks really comfortable at 90-95 and any higher she become out of her comfort zone and Alex gets more nervous causing them to have poles and stops x
Wooop woop ! Such a lovely round well done x
Thanks Taimar... it was a good weekend for WORC :) xx
I know I can't wait to be able to do this sort of stuff with Nemo in the future x
The ginger one goes from strength to strength :D
Oh he does !!! :) bless him what are you next events ? x
Taimar Gilbert I have a lesson at Lyneham Heath with Owen Moore mid May (with some ladies from Bicester Riding Club... shush, don't tell anyone at WORC I'm fraternising with the local rivals). Then the WORC eventers are heading to Offchurch Bury for their long format two day event at the end of May... quite exciting to be having a go at the roads and tracks, steeplechase, roads and tracks, followed by a 6 min xc course on the Sunday! :)
How old is Pigeon?
Amazing :-)
Thank you and thanks for watching! :D
I've recently got a new 6yo TB gelding, who I'm hoping to do some eventing with once he gets more schooling. Got any tips for a novice eventer? :) x
Awesome!!!
Thank you :) We usually use the term 'horseome' here on Team Pigeon ;-)
I watch your videos so much, I feel like I can ride your horse 🐎
Ola K. She's sweet 16 :0)
What breed is pigeon?
She is a registered Irish Sport Horse! Thanks for watching :)
wow!!!!
