Phase D or the 90cm cross country round from the British Riding Club’s Long Format Two Day Event that was held for the first time in May 2015 at Princethorpe College near Rugby. Pigeon was feeling a bit keen and jumped really well on this twisty and undulating course. I did have some issues with her locking onto the 100cm fences particularly around jump 10 where we tipped a bit on landing! Just a few time penalties to add to my poor score from the dressage and show jumping as I rode a little cautiously. Fortunately there were lots of penalties in the dressage (quite a harsh judge) and plenty of cricket scores in the show jumping. A clear cross country (slightly over the optimum time) and strong scores from the other West Oxfordshire/South Warwickshire riders put our team in 6th place overall. I am looking forward to going to this event again next year when I am sure it will be greatly improved upon after their inaugural event!

I am going to do Junior 90 or 1m eventing, what is the steeplechase and roads and tracks like? I know not all RC events have them but it would be good to know,

I'm a little nervous about doing my first cross country course with my new mare and I just wanted to know is it hard to learn the course as I think I might forget it and that's what I am worried about x
darcey gausden Try not to worry! Just give yourself plenty of time to walk the course (twice if you need to). If the venue is close you might be able to walk it the day before you compete so you can imagine yourself riding it perfectly the night before (and check that you do know where you are going). Most courses are easy to remember once you get going as they flow well and there is often white tape to stop you going off in the wrong direction. It's worse when you have competed at a venue a lot and got used to the way the course usually goes and the organisers then change it around (my automatic pilot has to be turned off when that happens - lol). do you wear spurs when go SJ and XC and dressage beace many riders do I didn't see them in this video
No Spurs on Pigeon. She doesn't need them as she's generally pretty forward! I always think that spurs are more of a thing for dressage to promote collection. Thanks for watching! :-)

Helena Davčev Gostiša I found out that Pigeon had a disease at the end of last year (cushings or PPID). That was why she was not feeling right and we got eliminated last year. She is doing much better and we have been out competing but we are not allowed to wear helmet cameras in the UK now - boo :( So I can only get videos if there is a company selling them at events.
