My favorite aspects of owning a modded Switch is the ability to install mods/cheats, and overclock it for more performance. For some reason, so many games run at less than 720p in handheld mode. It looks terrible, and they also insist on slapping a blurry AA methods, dynamic resolutions and other crap upscaling technologies on top as well; like FXAA and FSR. There are tons of fan made patches to push the games at the perfectly scaled 720p/1080p, and remove all that extra junk. Then, you can overclock the Switch to re-achieve a stable 30fps again. For example, Persona 5 Royal. You can install the resolution mod, without overclocking and it runs perfectly stable. It's nonsensical of these developers.
I agree 100% A franchise like Pokemon, for example, shouldn't be YEARS behind in graphical fidelity and performance. Where can I go to ask questions about modding a Switch? One big thing I'm wondering is if it permanently alters the Switch. Or if i would lose access to downloaded games and online access. All I'm really interested in is playing retro games, stuff like NES, SNES, Sega. I've heard there's now something called Mig..? But I got the impression it's only for Switch games.
If you want to hmu on discord I can help you out. My UN is Tithendir Nosrac#4880 But essentially, no you don't lose anything if you mod your Switch properly. You only gain features
Love this vid! just got my OLED Modded and I’m trying to set it up exactly like what you have here.. How’d did you add games to show up on the Nintendo Switch Online emulators?
You just have to make sure you have linkalho set up, then download the app from whichever place you get your homebrew from. After that, check out cave database manager on Google and you'll be off to the races 😁👍🏽
Possibly, but the scene is constantly changing, and the method to mod varies slightly depending on what kind of Switch you have. But yeah, if there's enough interest, I'll definitely do that 😁👍
Hey there thanks for the video! This is awesome. Game mods and plugins sure look handy. I have couple of obscure requests - would my wired Xbox controller work with the Switch (since it has triggers would be better for certain racing games)? And did you try Android/Linux? I wonder what games would work outside Switch's library and emulation.
Yeah, so you can use missioncontrol plugin to use controllers from other consoles on your switch. And it's funny you mention android, because that's probably what my next video will cover 👍
@@sayianprincevegeta7969 great content my man. Do not be afraid to go into more obscure stuff like Kodi or android specific ports of games. Looking forward! Meanwhile I need to find someone who will mod my Switch OLED in eastern europe 😁
not sure if i should send my oled to be modded now or wait for an easier exploit 🤔 havent touched it for months but would be cool to have all these games
I don't think there will be an easier exploit any time soon, if ever. Nintendo really worked hard to patch the system and make it really difficult to mod
hey bro you inspired me to take the leap, i just sent out my oled switch with 1tb sandisk sd for the modchip, i love your setup, once i get my switch back you got any recommendations to get it to the point you have it ?
There's a program called cavedatabasemanager that'll allow you to pack your own roms into NSO on a modded switch. But I still recommend retroarch over that 👍
Could you drop a tutorial to get a switch just like yours? It doesn’t have to be on RUclips, you could make a discord and drop it in there? I’m very interested in modding it just like this with the dual boot
Oh wow, that'd be a long video 😅 I mostly would just hear about stuff and possibilities with a modded console and slowly over time added new things. Everything I did when I first started basically came from here: rentry.co/SwitchHackingIsEasy Email me if you have specific questions, as well
Modding smash is pretty easy once you have a hacked switch. You'll have to set up acropolis, then a mod staging folder, and you're gtg. The biggest issues always pop up after an update happens. It usually means you have to wait for your mods to be updated as well, so in some cases, it's better to not update at all. Just remember only some select mods are wifi safe, and almost never recommended
This is really cool, but I have a question. What is your method for keeping your emulated NAND disconnected from Nintendo? Do you use incognito, 90 DNS?
Hi ! Lil question, is it possible to use cheats as we could with AR on old Nintendo consoles ? To be more precise, I'm planning to buy a Switch Lite in the not-too-distant future with the aim of playing mainly the Pokemon and Fire Emblem games released on it, and I'd like to use cheats equivalent to the existing ones available via Action Replay, in particular those allowing you to get Pokemon Shiny or to obtain the Starters of the corresponding generation on the DS and 3DS games.
Check out the link here to prevent a ban: reddit.com/r/SwitchPirates/w/index? Just check the about bans/preventing bans section. Essentially, you just want to create an emuNAND as soon as you get the console as well as setting up exosphere and dns mitm. Once that's done, you'll be safe. Just make sure to only use the emuNAND for anything cheats, hacks, piratey, etc. The sysNAND will be used for regular online play, updates, etc
MelonDS standalone does an auto controller config. To my knowledge, you can't rebind mappings in the app, and the defaults always just worked for me. Are you using a third party controller by chance?
No problem, I just followed the guide here to setup my emuNAND rentry.org/AvoidSwitchBan It's easy enough to do, and should definitely be done if you want to prevent a ban 😁👍
I wanted to know where did you get the store from like github or all that you have on your switch is from the homebrew ? If not can you tell me the site. Would appreciate the guide
It's no longer available. They crop up and get taken down pretty regularly. I can't help find alternatives, but if you search hard enough you're likely to find what you're looking for
Great video. Just started myself and great to see all the things possible. Do you have some names you might be able to throw out for tinfoil on the games side? Ive seen impressive library access to download copies of games you own instead of ripping them but its hard to lookup.
@@sayianprincevegeta7969 sure, but I meant play online the games you install "the other way". I know that if you do it normally the ban risk is pretty high. So I was wondering if there were any countermeasures to avoid that and still play online on emunand.
hi @SayianPrinceVegeta, Thank you for sharing this, really awesome mods here and I'm really jealous. Is it possible to get a copy of SD card image with all the plugins and apps even with or without the games. :D thank you!
I'd like to help, but it doesn't really work that way. If I were to copy my card and send it to you, it would immediately have to be formatted once you put the card inside your console. And In the process, erase everything 😅
nsp-forwarder.n8.io/ It's pretty easy using this program. Just plugin all the data in the fields. Make sure to add an image/picture that you want too. Then take the created NSP and put it on your switch. Then install using dbi or tinfoil or whatever you like to use 👍👍

I just got done watching the video on setting up big box and emulation setup. Some things have definitely changed since the old n64 emulators. I didn't even know ps2 emulator was finally finished.

Also, is there a guide to creating forwarder for games? I like the idea of having them loadable from the main switch screen! Thanks in advance!

I sold my switch after I got my OLED deck since I wasn't really using it. Starting to regret and I want to mod one like these. Is it worth it or am I just getting FOMO?
You can mostly do everything with the SD that you could with the Switch. The SD just has worse battery, and you'd have to emulate any Switch games, which ofc isn't as ideal as using the native hardware. Probably just a bit of FOMO, but I do play the Switch pretty often, even with handheld PCs at my disposal 😅

@BokuNoDaddy The upkeep can be a pain, but a couple of rules I live by are: 1. Don't update unless there's a game or dlc that requires it. 2. Set up emuNAND properly with dns mitm and incognito. This way, you can go online without worry. You can also download a homebrew to show if you're properly blocking Nintendo whilst online. If you do that and you'll be fine. I'm a few years in, and still no ban. I'm online all the time, too

Thanks for sharing, this inspired me to mod my own switch :D
Awesome!! Glad to hear it 😁
Nobody gonna talk about the lore drop of sonic swimming?
A common misconception is that hedgehogs can't swim. I'm here to break these stereotypes 😂
My UN is Tithendir Nosrac#4880
But essentially, no you don't lose anything if you mod your Switch properly.
@@sayianprincevegeta7969 legend.. Subscribed brother appreciate you
@sayianprincevegeta will you make tutorials on modding the switch and switch OLED?
Possibly, but the scene is constantly changing, and the method to mod varies slightly depending on what kind of Switch you have. But yeah, if there's enough interest, I'll definitely do that 😁👍
@@sayianprincevegeta7969 trust me bro there definitely an interest and if you have a discord to show how todo it I would join it 👍🏾
Hey there thanks for the video!

Nice asf. Still got mine also. Just finished Mario rpg remake. With cheats 😅
Very nice! I am still working my way through that one 😅
hey bro you inspired me to take the leap, i just sent out my oled switch with 1tb sandisk sd for the modchip, i love your setup, once i get my switch back you got any recommendations to get it to the point you have it ?

I just followed the rentry guide here:rentry.org/AvoidSwitchBan

I was wondering how you added Pokémon games into the gameboy advance?
There's a program called cavedatabasemanager that'll allow you to pack your own roms into NSO on a modded switch. But I still recommend retroarch over that 👍
Speaking of modding
How can you Add Super Smash Bros Mods
On the switch oled ???🤔🤔🤔
You'll just have to setup Acropolis then install your mods that you want to use 👌

Everything I did when I first started basically came from here: rentry.co/SwitchHackingIsEasy

Dolphin and Citra standalone emulators can be added if you have android installed, but the citra core in retroarch can be run natively on Switch HOS 👍

u know the Nintendo DS emulator
what about regular Nintendo DS? nvm you mentioned that in the video
bro you think u could do a smash bros mod video on how you would get it running or hdr running online

Yeah, once modded, adding cheats is a "breeze" 👍

I'm getting my OLED modded as well, what are some precautions to keep in mind to reduce the risk of getting banned?
Check out the link here to prevent a ban:
reddit.com/r/SwitchPirates/w/index?
Just check the about bans/preventing bans section.
Essentially, you just want to create an emuNAND as soon as you get the console as well as setting up exosphere and dns mitm. Once that's done, you'll be safe. Just make sure to only use the emuNAND for anything cheats, hacks, piratey, etc.
The sysNAND will be used for regular online play, updates, etc
Any chance you could go through your melon ds settings? Can't seem to swap screens/ only touch screen works atm
MelonDS standalone does an auto controller config. To my knowledge, you can't rebind mappings in the app, and the defaults always just worked for me.
Are you using a third party controller by chance?

I wanted to know where did you get the store from like github or all that you have on your switch is from the homebrew ? If not can you tell me the site.
Would appreciate the guide
It's no longer available. They crop up and get taken down pretty regularly. I can't help find alternatives, but if you search hard enough you're likely to find what you're looking for
I got a shop for you dm me
Great video. Just started myself and great to see all the things possible. Do you have some names you might be able to throw out for tinfoil on the games side? Ive seen impressive library access to download copies of games you own instead of ripping them but its hard to lookup.
Check out some of the switch homebrew subreddits. They're bound to have something like that, I'm sure
What mod did you use for the switch? And is the a website you get all the apps for that you like?
Like, which mod chip? It's a V6 Instinct
As far as the plugins go, they usually have their own individual GitHub pages
I modded my switch last week but I'm still trying to understand if there's a way to play online games 🤔
Yeah, of course. I recommend playing them on your clean sysNAND, though.
So, you actually could run online games on a different sd partitition like the sysnand and emunand?
Yup, that's right 👍
