    This is exactly what happened to me while mowing the lawn today. I have a Troy-Bilt as well. In fact, it's a very similar model. I inherited it from my father, and wasn't even sure how to troubleshoot it. This video was very helpful. I will look at the drive-belt tomorrow. Thank you for making this video. I can't believe that there are people out there that put a thumbs down on this.

    Thanks so much for this video! Exact same thing happened while I was mowing, sudden stop, would not go forward or reverse, thought I was screwed because I was thinking transmission even though lawnmower was only 4 years old. Did exactly what you showed and sure enough that fixed it! Thanks again!

    Next day after this video was released, the drive belt snapped. It was replace but immediately the blade belt broke. Lesson learned ... just save yourself some time and replace all your belts at the same time, every time. It gives you more mowing time without breakdown interruptions!

      no I don't believe so, It seems to be a friction issue with the belt and the pulley. check to make sure the belt is rolled over on the wrong side of the belt, and that the belt hasn't worn Narrower too. Also spray any tension assemblies to they are moving like they should.

    • @INSIDEHOUSEGARAGE

    • @xavierdennardjr.2070
      @xavierdennardjr.2070 4 года назад

      When I crank it in neutral; the blades are not moving but when I engage them and try turning them back off the will not disengage. Now far as the not stopping. If I put it in forward and start moving I have no brakes , but if I'm in neutral I have breaks

      @@xavierdennardjr.2070 it sounds like you have multiple problems. The problem button may be the problem for the blades as it can wear out internally. As for the brakes, have you tried testing it the mower not running? Set the parking brake and try pushing it from the back.
