    I bought an 18 buyback charger taking a gamble and didn't notice any squeaking on the test drive. After rolling around in it I noticed squeaking. Then I saw your videos about these body issues and it immediately became apparent to me why the car was bought back. Dodge turned it around and resold without fixing the body squeak at all. And to make matters worse the trans started acting up before it was even due for its first fluid change. Doesn't want to shift, slipping on take off and between gears while rolling down the road. Changed the fluid thinking it was acting up because it was getting close to 50k miles when the fluid is due to change. Nope, does it even worse now. Smh.

    Engine Block Porosity, What Is It? The definition of porosity is: any void or hole found in a casting. These voids can be caused by gases and contaminants present during the casting process and typically occur near the outer parts, or at the top of a casting.

    • @crankychris2
      @crankychris2 Месяц назад

      My Northstar seemed to be porous too, it oozed oil from every gasket. Two cans of bar leaks slightly helped. The solution was simple. bum cardboard boxes from Publix [already flattened for you!] and slide them under the engine.
      Yes, ignoring it seems vastly preferable, but engine oil dissolves asphalt driveways very quickly.
      Too bad these engines pulled strong like a big block and sipped fuel like a six, it's a shame GM didn't build them right...

    My 22 RE and 17 Scat have been mostly trouble free. Never understood folks jumping on the last call bandwagon knowing (or should have known) the quality would be garbage. If Dodge goes under there won't be any parts nor service for the Demons and the other Special Edition Cars. You'll be on your own. Why are folks still paying over MSRP for this albatross? Keep it coming TK - eventually these folks will get the message.

    yes, my friend had his 6.2 Ram engine replaced at 2000 miles because of a porous engine block because it kept dripping oil out of the rear of the block where there were plugs in it. First, they replaced the plugs, no fix. Then they put a sealant on the plugs and tried again, no fix and then replaced the engine. Can't say what is happening now as he got rid of it after the new engine was put in. The oil leak showed it self like a bad rear main seal. Oil drops on the rear bellhousing where it was connected to the transmission and on the exhaust pipe running next to the engine. He was told by the service department for Dodge that there was a bad run of 6.2 blocks from the foundry. He did not question it too much, he just wanted a truck to pull his very large and heavy camper.

    The whole "Last Call" and other marketing 'Red eye', 'Scatpack', 'Demon' versions all stinks of 1000 ways to milk a buyer. Add in Stellantis' reputation for junk quality and it was a blatant cash grab from the start. I am just stunned at the lack of financial education where people paid 200k over sticker for a depreciating asset. TK should do a "Fundamentals of Finance" channel or free course for Service personnel.

    Per the weeping engines it is possible that the mix for the cast iron pour was not up to specs, considering that cast iron and cast aluminum have been used for a over a century .
    Maybe the machining of the sealing areas for gaskets might be suspect or bad gaskets. It never ends!😎

    My uncle who is Master mechanic and had certs for most every brand back in 80s and 90s. He could do warranty work on almost anything out their. One was Rolls Royce. He had one come in the was needing oil regularly. He called the factory over seas to find out what he could do for the customer. He was told when the car needs oil every 500 miles they would warranty it. Now he was a Master Mechanic for like 15 or 20 brands and none had that kind of usage. In fact s car using s quart of oil every thousand miles was considered a bad motor. Not for Rolls, they called it controlled seepage. You got to he kidding. But they said it was called controlled seepage and it had to be a quart every 500 miles.
    So are these Dodge like Rolls and have Controlled Seepage??? My butt!!!
    Just thought you might need a good laugh.

    People have to realize that Dodge is not making the build quality better on these cars. They are simply upping the horsepower on these cars and pushing them off the assembly line. They don’t care about making a better interior or ensuring they all operate correctly before sending them out. All they want is your money at the end of the day.

    The only time I heard about porous engine blocks was from Volvo back in the early nineties. Actually after a few years Volvo found the cause of the coolant leaks in their 2.9 liter aluminum Inline six blocks. Funny thing it only happened after a number of years, and Volvo determined that the owners were using a non approved coolant. This coolant was actually eating away the aluminum around the thinner area of the water jacket. They ended up replacing a number of engines before realizing what was causing the issue. Dealer maintained cars didn't have any issues only those that had their coolant replaced by the owner or a local shop.

    All other defects aside, the windshield crack is a sign of a defect of the highest magnitude. If I were Stellantis I’d be looking into the cause of that 24/7/365 until it is discovered, I wouldn’t replace one windshield until it’s found. Gotta be a welding or structural deficiency of some sort, and that is some serious, potentially litigious stuff, if not addressed.
    Feel sorry for anyone who’s into a 2023 car at a retail price. They should be drastically, drastically reduced to wholesale levels at this point. With a disclaimer in addition to the warranty: buy at your own risk, use caution during operation. What other shortcuts have NOT been discovered yet?

  • @RollinIsbell
    @RollinIsbell Месяц назад

    The issues are fairly typical of vehicles built by Peugeot and Fiat. Which is why I’ve never bought a car from either company.
    These issues aren’t acceptable on a $40k car. Certainly not on an $80k car. That anybody would expect the quality to magically improve just because the price increased, is just crazy.

    The Dodge Demon is a $70,000 car TOPS.
    Being limited edition doesn't change the fact that it's a 10 year+ old Challenger with LESS in it than a Challenger Hellcat.
    It will NEVER age like a classic car. It's dealer dependent and can't be easily repaired later down the road.
    I would NEVER pay $200,000 for one of these things.

    Do you know why the late 60s and early 70s MOPARS especially with hemis and 340s are so valuable now? Because they barely made it off the assembly line. They were built horribly and did not last and were junked at a high rate which took rare cares and made them even rare which is why they approach $1 million so frequently. This is PAR for the course with Chrysler Dodge or whatever you want to call them today.

Ford probably has the best interior but I just can't deal with all that underhood plastic which is becoming commonplace for all manufacturers. These cars were overpriced and speculated into crazy by the dealers. 200k for a Dodge is nuts. Their trucks are way overpriced too and that is why they are not selling.
