Hi! When I extrude a plain It always becomes like a pool-like shape. The selected face moves to its new position new faces are created on the edges but the place where the selected face initialy was is empty, I dont know why is that I just started with blender I would appreciate some help.
You explained the really basic parts of the tool and gradually increased the difficulty, you explained in a way others don't and that is fantastic! Really saved me a lot of time
hello i know this video was uploaded a long time ago but i would highly appreciate if you answered my question, whenever i try extruding the cylinder it always seems to also go outwards inside the mesh ive tried finding alternate ways to fix it but i dont seem to get it too much can you please help?
Finally, a series of videos actually useful for beginners. I started out with optimistic ambitions. One of the first things I tried to make was a screw. Lol I have a lot more to learn before I get there.
you are great in showing your talents as fast as possible. but beginners slap their pc as they don;t understand anything about shortcut for extrude of wall.
Hey ! Very helpful tutorial. Quick question: When putting in the amount for extrude scale, it asks for a percentage value. Is there any way I can input in a metric number like 'scale extrude 5mm/0.05m?'. Thanks
is there anyway to lock the extrusion in to the grid in any direction? everytime i extrude something i cant perfectly move my mouse up or down and i always end up with slightly slanted extrusions
Thanks, this is very useful. I'm experimenting with this vs archpack for drawing walls. I _think_ after you hit the E key you can enter a number that extrudes the face by that increment. Now I'll have to find a way to extrude a face on a wall to 45 degrees rather than 90 degrees.
Extruding outward (sacling) an edge loop on a cylinder or sphere is different than extending the edges of say a rectangle. How does one extend edges uniformly on a recatngle?
Hi, I tried the Alt Shift Click on my MacBook Air to select a loop, but it does not work as in the video. Do I need to do some keyboard shortcuts set up prior? If so, I'd appreciate it if you could show me how. Thanks. Great tutorial, BTW. I got a lot out of it.
When I want to scale a slice of a cylinder but I want the underlaying parts and the parts above to move outwards together with it (oblique), do I need to do something special?
for unknown reasons to me, when I try to extrude an object it copies it instead. No idea what I did and it's the worst. learning blender is hard enough when all of the controls are the same as you guys say, let alone if I fucked it up lol
I know this is an old video and I don't know if it's been asked, but there is one thing that bothers me about the Extrude tool and I hope you know of an answer. Using Sketchup often over the years, the thing that bothers me the most is the control over the direction. I'm typically extruding a specific distance and with sketchup you can enter a value and the system uses the direction you have indicated as the positive direction for the move. In Blender I find myself extruding in a direction, entering a value, and then all too often find it extrude the other direction because I needed to enter a minus for a negative value. Do you know if there a setting anywhere regarding this?
Hey! I am an experienced solidworks modeler, so I am very use to just being able to draw a square on any shape very quickly on a surface and extruding from there. Can you not do that in blender or do you have to insert a new shape and then extrude?
OMG Thank you, Finally, I was able to grasp The whole idea of finding my starting place with a better understanding of finding my way around using the extrude tool. Fantastic, Well Done. looking forward to more Blender Tutorial Videos.
Is there a uniformly scaled extrusion? Sometimes referred to as an offset edge method that is baked into the cake of Blender that does not require an add-on?
Thank you for your nice exact nad very clear tutorials. Mean this about Blender and also abot Sketchup. Many of knowledges I got rightly for you. Thank you thank you thank you. Zdeněk
Good day. I am working on a model where I am converting a 2D drawing of an airplane from the 1950's into a 3D model. Not just a mesh but a complete airplane. I have been working on it for almost 11 months now. I am now getting into using the extrude tool to make some of the parts. you did help me understand the extrude tool better. The airplane that I am building is the Avro Arrow and as many of the 38, 000 parts as possible.
Hi nice video! I just want to ask, what should i do if I want to make “cone” based on merged faces? I don’t know if it makes sense but here’s a pic of what I’m trying to achieve: ibb.co/3yMZNtf I’m sorry if it is a low quality pic. Thank you so much ❤️
I don't really understand what you're trying to achieve. You could go into edit mode, select the vertices, right click, and select "Merge Vertices" I guess
Yes please am using a laptop and I did everything but still I can't extrude don't know if I did something but what's d requirements to extrude in blender using laptop no mouse
@@TheCGEssentials All of the extrude seem to be done in a square block. I was wondering if I can extrude a circular shape from a cube or do I just have to use Boolean add?
@@theunraveler Well I don't understand how you'd extrude a circular shape from a cube - you can extrude any face or groups of faces, so as long as you can create the profile you want, you should be able to extrude it...
What about angling extrusion? For example, when you look on a building, sometimes there is scaffolding and they go along the same angle with the wall of the building. I want to learn how to extrude a long a specific angle. I'm building a Model T car in Blender and there is a metal step that extends across the car and angles inward toward the hood and the straightens back out. Please help me with that. I've been trying to resolve it with many tutorials but this specific one isn't easy to find. Thank you so much and love your channel.
Learned more geenral Blender skills just watching this than I have from vids made for noobs thanks to the way you tell us what you are doing at every step. Thanks so much for beign a great teacher!
Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions about the Blender Extrude Tool in the comments below! :)
CAN YOU GET LIKE, TOTALLY BAKED OFF OF BLENDER EXTRUDE TOOLS??!
For some reason alt-shift-click dosnt select the edge loop. it dosnt select anything
Thank you for the video. I wish you showed a way to extrude the top of a box or a cylinder so the circumference is wider on the top than the bottom.

How do you make that Extrude Region and Move window at the bottom left at 1:28 visible?
You explained the really basic parts of the tool and gradually increased the difficulty, you explained in a way others don't and that is fantastic! Really saved me a lot of time
Glad it was helpful!
thanksss man you saved my life!!!!!!!!!! the most easiest tutorial to teach how to extrude object on the Internet !!! thanks again
AT LAST! THANK YOU, WHAT A WONDERFUL CHANNEL, YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY A TALENTED SUPER DIAMOND, THANK YOU FOR YOUR TEACHINGS, IM SUBSCRIBING RIGHT AWAY
Also if you extrude with "E" and then press "S" to scale then "SHIFT + Z" you can exclude the scaling in the z direction or x or y.
hello i know this video was uploaded a long time ago but i would highly appreciate if you answered my question, whenever i try extruding the cylinder it always seems to also go outwards inside the mesh ive tried finding alternate ways to fix it but i dont seem to get it too much can you please help?
Nice! Very helpful, thanks!
That Shift+Z is what I was looking for. Thanks!
Awesome - glad it helped!
Take a shot every time he says Extrude

This is what I am wondering too. I looked online and there doesn't seem to be an easy method, but maybe you'll find out, if so please let me know.

My dude, you explain way better than 80% of people that make these types of videos!
Thanks, I learned a ton with this short video, you did cover different primitives with extrude.
Excellent, works perfectly on the current 2024 version
is there a way to extruxe a vertex in the opposite way of its edge ? like an "extrude" shift v. thank you
You missed a huge point, you need to select the FACE selection mode.
How do you extrude giving dimension from your keyboard?
Thank you so much man. I've been looking for something straight to the point. Keep it up!
he looks like the chad version of Mark Zuckerberg
Those r very good tips, thank u so much!!!
when i try to size up or down the edge extrusion it just doesnt work

Did ya design this dog in ur videos
6:10 not working it just drags the parts :/
Found any use for the Extrude to cursor? The fact that with each extrusion of faces it doesn't keep the scale uniform its kinda a deal breaker for me.
help, it wont let me extrude in 1 direction
Hello, may I ask if the surface I extruded is not parallel but is inclined at an angle. Is there any way to modify it?
Superb - you saved my bacon with extrude along normals option just what I need

Interesting - thanks!

this video is excellent👌
I am originally a maya student but I moved to blender as had problem with this. quiet complex(getting used to) in blender so thankyou.
Glad I could help!
Yes please am using a laptop and I did everything but still I can't extrude don't know if I did something but what's d requirements to extrude in blender using laptop no mouse
Ummm...the only system requirement to extrude is to have an "e" key...
You saved me! i tried for days to extrude outward and i got so frustrated
many things learnt from you video. thanks
do you sleep
Hi. Extrude scale doesn't scale in proper direction.
Is it possible to do a circular extrude on a cube object?
I don't understand what you mean by "circular extrude"

Thanks bro helps a lot
No problem 👍
Very helpful, thanks man!
Hi! I made a 2D mesh from an image. How do I make the 2D mesh into a 3D mesh, while retaining the angles and curves from the mesh? Thank you!
THANK YOU!!!! YOU SAVE MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!
your videos are awesome and explained very well, thank you very much.👍
Glad they're helping!
Thank you, helped a lot.
Glad it helped!
Bless you for this video. Just finished donut tutorial and this was the next thing i wanted to learn
Awesome!
THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH!
YOU ARE DOING A GREAT JOB THANKS
Nothin happens when I press 'E'
Ah you have to be "face select" mode
Yep, Edit mode :)
Thank you, that's really helpful.
I can create a recess
When I scale anything it scales from both sides or faces
Once you're in scale you can press x y or z to scale along those axis
Really helpful. Lots of implication in one video
Glad you liked it!
Awesome... Great tutorial and much needed.
Glad you liked it!
Excellent tutorial, as always.
