This video has some good insight into mounting your shower valve to the wall studs and positioning the shower valve on the center of your tub drain location. We also discuss plumbing protector plates and why and how we must use them in our project.
This video will help you with your bathroom remodel project rough-in plumbing tasks.
Nice to see HONEST plumbers that are not into hiden crap in walls great job guys keep up the good work. and keep posting great video
Thanks for making these videos! Great natural dialog and communication on explanation and demonstration of installing/bracing shower faucet system! To be honest I enjoy your videos much more than majority of those that are so staged and try to perfect everything to the point of almost like they are trying to make you feel inferior compared to their capabilities. I enjoy your videos much more because you are more down to earth, less staged (rehearsed), and much closer to reality to the average DIYer. Keep videos coming!
Thanks Allen...We are definitely not rehearsed! We'll keep making em.

Excellent video. I'm popping-in a new bathtub faucet and needed to see how someone else secures the faucet-body in the rough in. Thank you.
If it's available in your area I would recommend using a substrate board called DensShield. Comes in 4x5 foot sheets with a built in vapor barrier. Cuts with a razor knife and lightweight. It's made by Georgia-Pacific and they have done extensive water test on the board with no problems. Of course I always tape and use a product like dragon skin or redgard on all my seams and screw holes
I like yous guys. Good camera work and comeraderie.
I should have watched this before I already tiled my shower and now I have to rip it all out.
Love your videos-I am now working on basement bathroom. I am using pex pipe. I will need an auto vent, as there is no room to run a air vent outside, do you recommend them. Also they precut a 18 square in my slab with a pipe, no p trap. Is pex easy to work with and connect. Could I install the shower rough in, or do you recommend a plumber? Thanks again for your time and videos
Hey man your welcome! Good luck with this bathroom project...it's going to turn out great I'm sure, keep it going man. Thanks again for stopping by our bathroom remodeling channel. Got questions about your bath just let me know and I'll do my best to help you get-er-done!

Thanks. This is what I was looking for as I need to install a new shower faucet system in my mobile home and they only fit certain mobile home faucets. I'm getting away from there junk. thanks so much. :-) I just don't trust that banding strap type plumbing. I love the shark bites. They are so east and supposed to last about forever.
Your welcome John! Yeah Sharlbite fittings are so awesome! Good luck with your faucet installation!
Eddie
Wow good job.
Wow! Look at those huge notches cut out of the studs!!!!! Hope that’s not a supporting wall but still!
That drain pipe had some sawzall chew marks in it that were deep...hopefully that got fixed. Besides the tub getting scratched up it was a helpful video.
On the copper joint on the tub spout, will that joint take the torque when screwing on the spout?
Thanks for tuning-in to our bathroom remodeling channel here on RUclips!

If you ever need to change this out , theses screws are in the wrong direction 2x4 mounts toward trap door …needs to be directed …for removal years later or even a lemon mount plumbing
In my opinion
how long should the pipe for the bottom faucet be sticking out ??
Thanks for the video! One question for you.. Is there any specific reason you used the PEX Barb 90-Degree Elbow instead of the Push-to-Connect 90-Degree Elbow? I guess more specifically, why would you ever use one over the other?
+Joel Jones the PEX Barb 90-Degree Elbow is a lot cheaper than a Push-to-Connect 90-Degree Elbow.
+Fishingtuts Yep...that's the main reason! Cheaper and does the same thing...maybe even better!
Is the osb on the 2x4 studs on the water valve/shower head wall basically furring strips to keep the tub tight wall to wall?
Yes we needed to pack-out the wall so it would be tight...you are correct Kyle!
Eddie
Bathroom Remodel Videos thank you so much for the quick reply. Made a subscriber out of me!
I wonder if "How to Destroy Structure" is a formal part of plumbers' licensing. :)
7:40 Those plumbing plates that cover the water lines etc, do they cause bulging issues when attaching drywall?
No they do not.
they do. i recess them into the 2x by chiseling out the wood so they lay flush. It takes me 30 seconds.
kirk58 yep, and it wouldn't hurt removing the old glue also lol.
The tub should not sit on the tile floor, it should sit on the wood subfloor (plywood). You then tile up-to the side of the tub base. I would bust out the concrete bed and get down to virgin wood flooring. Then buy concrete board (Durarock or Wonderboard) put that down over the virgin wood flooring and then tile over the concrete board. If you do this a 1" marble threshold will work great at the door entrance to the bathroom door. Hpe this helps.

What is the piece called where the hot and cold connect? Is that a valve? Will any brand work with any fixture? Or, as an example, if you buy a Delta valve, do you need Delta fixtures?
Yes that is the Valve where all the connections happen. Yes the Valve has to match the brand faucet your purchasing!
Eddie
At the 3:57 point in your video you state that the plaster ring has to be flush with the framing. Is that for a thin wall or a thick wall with backer board and tile? I'm putting in a thick wall with backer board and tile. Does flush with framing work for thick wall as well?
+Abrams1970 Yes it does Abrams...set it up the same way. You have some play with the trim ring on the faucet handle.
Eddie
+Bathroom Remodel Videos thanks for the quick reply. You've helped me tremendously.
Your welcome. Good luck with your bath faucet install.
Eddie
Use the front face of the plaster ground as a reference point for the face of the finished wall (which is probably 3/4" out from the front face of the wall stud {(3/4" = 1/2" backer-board plus 1/4" tile including the thin set}).
So o ce im putting on the tub faucet does the copper half inch pipe at the end need to be threaded in order for the spout adaptor inside to screw in?
slimunique84 It depends on the spout you get. If you get a slip on it has a set screw on the bottom that tightens up on your your spout.
@@ronh9384 ok. Thanks. Cheers.
Did you use a 1/2" pex pipe between the valve and the shower head? I have the same valve here but it specifically says not to do that. How does it perform?
YesMan85 Yes..it's standard to use 1/2" line from the shower valve to the shower head.
Eddie
BathroomRemodelVideo Sorry I meant between the valve and the spout. Pex says no, Kohler says no, but plumber says yes. So I did it.
1/2" between a tub valve and a tub spout is OK and is the most common size water line for this application.
Eddie
Pex Piping makes its connections inside the pipe, making the opening smaller than 1/2". Where as copper uses coupling that go outside the pipe, making the connection maintin its 1/2" size. Water is more likely to seep up the line and out the shower head if your just trying to run the tub spout due to the pressure increase of a smaller diameter. But its no big deal if ur not having problems.
Every time I've seen it done I see water dripping from the shower head. I use 12" galvanized nipple and 90.
Thanks for the positive comment! Thanks for watching our Bathroom remodeling Videos!
Glad you liked the bathroom video! Let us know if there is another bathroom video training video that you would like to see us do.

Hex head or torque screws .....
I hope that wasn't a load bearing wall that you cut 85% to 90% of the stud out of for that sink drain plumbing plate part . 6:41
😆
How do you bid for a job like this?
By the total project. This is not a Time & Materials project.
Only thing missing is the suds.
Pex drain line , weld copper ? What the hell are we dealing with ? PVC vent line , and solder pipe .
It's PEX water lines and PVC drain lines and vent lines Floyd.
Eddie
I would be jumping on my guys if that tub was not covered up with cardboard and protection
@ 2:38, I will send you to drilling school body.
whatsamatter? dont know how to weld copper??
+Mr Vinyl First of all it's solder copper not weld copper...Lol, and secondly this is a better system than copper all the way around!
Eddie
Bathroom Remodel Videos or sweat copper lol
The days of sweat-soldering are over. Pex and sharkbytes are my preference. It's been going on in Europe for years.
