Actually the shelters were introduced only in the 90s. :) We do recycle, there are recycling bins everywhere, but it isn't strict by-law and we want it to be cultivated habit to self-sort and recycle.

(1) In SG most walkway at residential estates are covered shelter against sun and rain. (2) Singapore and Brunei currency are in same rate and usable in both countries. (3) SG car are the most expensive in the world as to ease the traffic problem in this tiny island (4) Around 80%+ SG local population lives in government subsidised flats. (5) Singlish is common used in SG (6) Alcohol is off the table after 10:30pm (7) SG is a city state with many wild life - chicken, monitor lizard, otter, wild boar etc.
