Some tips after watching this video. 1. You could have had a meal at Maxwell Food Centre before going towards Woodlands North. It is located just opposite the entrance of the Buddha Tooth Relic Temple (same side of the road at 1:43). Maxwell Food Centre has a stall called Heng Heng Ondeh-Ondeh and Tapioca Cake. Their Ondeh-Ondeh (pronounced as 'On Day-On Day', consists of a palm sugar filled round tapioca ball that is boiled to melt the sugar filling into liquid and coated with grated coconut) and Tapioca Cake (consists of Steamed Tapioca Cake made from Water, Grated Cassava, Coconut Cream and Sugar, then coated with grated coconut) are their bestsellers. Do note that some of the popular stalls like Heng Heng open very early and close around lunchtime, so if you want to patronise such stalls, go to Maxwell Food Centre at around 9am or 10am to have the most food options. 2. Just outside the entrance of Takashimaya at 7:41 and seen as 3 different coloured beach umbrellas at 7:53, you can find a famous ice-cream uncle selling ice-cream. He is one of the few ice-cream uncles that sells both block ice-cream (which is the Peppermint ice-cream with bread that you tried in a previous video) and scoop ice-cream (as the name suggests, it means the uncle opens a lid that leads to a deep metal drum, takes an ice-cream scoop and begins scooping the ice-cream onto bread or an ice-cream cone or into a plastic cup). Do note that for the scoop ice-cream, only 4 flavours are available. For the ice-cream uncle outside Takashimaya, the 4 flavours he offers (which is visible once it is your turn to order) are chocolate, corn, attap chee (pronounced as 'Ah Tarp Chi', which is Nipa Palm Fruit and coloured pink, which many people mistake for strawberry flavour) and peanut (he is the only ice-cream uncle that I know who sells peanut flavour as part of the 4 flavours in scoop ice-cream). 3. At around 19:40 to 19:41, I believe you mentioned 'you can hear the birds', I would like to kindly correct you on that point. The surrounding sound that you are hearing does not come from birds, it comes from cicadas. If you are lucky, you can sometimes see a cicada resting on the tree trunk while making that sound.
Speaking of crocs, if you guys are coming back to Singapore again. Do visit the Sungei Buloh wetland reserve. There are high chances you may encounter a few wild crocs there

People who come into Singapore thinking that it is a Malay or China related countries, usually are surprised. Not because Singapore is extraordinary (it is BTW) but because of their mindset with which they bring with. Singaporeans are used to people in US, UK and France, thinking that we HAVE TO SPEAK Mandarin (if you meet a ethnically Chinese person). @@sunkissedbucketlist Among the common rumours about its feng shui, Ngee Ann City was architecturally designed to look like Chinese tombstone. The building resembles the curved structure of traditional Teochew headstones. Five flagpoles in front of it are like joss sticks, while the fountain represents wine as offering. One possible reason is that it was built on a former cemetery and therefore Ngee Ann City was designed to appease spirits who used to rest there.

Despite all the hate Singapore may get, everyone can agree that it is one of the most convenient countries to travel in. Even the more suburban areas (Bedok and Jurong) are well connected and walkable!
There is an urban myth about the Buddha Tooth Temple. It goes like this: Historically, Sago lane, used to be a street with many funeral parlours. In addition to handling funeral matters, these funeral parlours also set up “places to recuperate from illness”, which provided shelter for chronically and terminally ill patients. Thus it also known as "dying / dead people street". Some people claimed that wandering spirits were still seen from time to time in spite of the place being rebuilt and repurposed for other business since 1982. As a result, the Buddha Tooth relic temple was constructed right next to it, where a tooth of the Buddha was brought in so that together with the daily chanting of Buddhist sutras, the wandering spirits will find their way to reincarnation. :P
Those "crickets" you heard at the botanic gardens are probably cicadas. Male cicadas vibrate certain parts of their body to attract females. If you get close enough to one, they will stop making the noise.
too bad you didn't go to the Orchid Garden and you can see all the named Orchids after British Royalties, Prime Ministers and Presidents and First Ladies and gentlemen who visited. You could have experience fish head curry at Samy's served on banana skin on just not far from Botanical Garden - depending on which exit you took - the other exit would lead you to Adam Road Food Court (non-AC). You should take a bus to East Coast Parkway food center. Nice selection of food but a chance for you to see the housing estates etc.

many of the buildings in orchard road has a superstitious urban legend about the way the building is designed. takashimaya is one of them
Takashimaya is a departmental store. The building name is Ngee Ann city
What’s the superstition though?
@@sunkissedbucketlist Among the common rumours about its feng shui, Ngee Ann City was architecturally designed to look like Chinese tombstone. The building resembles the curved structure of traditional Teochew headstones. Five flagpoles in front of it are like joss sticks, while the fountain represents wine as offering. One possible reason is that it was built on a former cemetery and therefore Ngee Ann City was designed to appease spirits who used to rest there.
@@sunkissedbucketlist if you notice at most of the building there is sure to be a fountain? In Asia country most Asian businesses man believe in good geomancy also known as (fengshui) and water resembles wealth, so most of the business man would want to have a fountain to show of abundant weath, and when you see twin towers at takashimaya it means double of everything , Asian like the feeling of double the wealth double the happiness 😁🍷🍻👍
@@sunkissedbucketlist if you notice our national symbol Merlion is place at the place which is actually the mouth of the river before Marina Bay Sands came up also has it's special reason for the country .
Can you interview the food protocol secret that made Singapore the blue zone? Most of the older Singapore do not eat unhealthy hawaker foods...they only patron hawkers that sells veges and meat with rice dishes that offers lots of dark leafly greens and black fungus. They focus on dishes that makes the skin supple and hair black.

Would love to see your source that states it’s “not accepted” anywhere because that is not true 👍🏻 but thank you for your concern
Yeah, we have quite a number of water monitor lizards around, some are very large in size
Wow, amazooon! 😮
Fabulous really
you need to take the elevator up to see the relic.
Despite all the hate Singapore may get, everyone can agree that it is one of the most convenient countries to travel in. Even the more suburban areas (Bedok and Jurong) are well connected and walkable!
There is an urban myth about the Buddha Tooth Temple. It goes like this:
Historically, Sago lane, used to be a street with many funeral parlours. :P
That Takashimaya place is not only a fashion heaven it's also a food heaven , you guys should have put on a few kilos after all that bread and food 🤣
The food court was indeed massive 😮
@@sunkissedbucketlist You should've tried the Chef Wai's Poached Rice in the food village!
@@sunkissedbucketlist to try all the different kind of food available in Singapore, you probably need at least six months 😁🍺👍
Nice selection of food but a chance for you to see the housing estates etc.
the temple has 4 floors.
