Singapore is a first world country, you can’t lump all Southeast Asian countries together and expect all SEA countries to be of the same price. You have to compare 1st world to 1st world, 2nd world to 2nd world and 3rd world to 3rd world. -from a M’sian working in Singapore
16:08 of the video, I was secretly hoping that you guys could venture a little bit more to try the satays (BBQ marinated meat on wooded sticks). During the evening like 7pm, the road just beside Lau Pa Sat will be closed and the BBQ grills will all come to live. You can get beers, BBQ prawns, BBQ chicken, beef, mutton and so on and soak into the atmosphere of dining in the open with towering skyscrapers around you. The experience is amazing and I love to go there. I'd recommend trying the chicken satay with peanut sauce at least. Thanks for the video, have fun and cheers. 😉
Singapore hawker food stalls are affordable but for classier restaurants that serve Western cuisine, it can get really expensive. Singapore is great for the rich, but for commoners who are living on a budget, careful planning for travel expenditure is certainly a must!
Hawker centres are great, but there is a pretty wide range in terms of food quality in there. You should always google to find out recommended stalls in any hawker centre instead of just randomly choosing one. The other option is to always choose the stalls with the longer queues.
When u r at Maxwell Food Centre, u should go next door to visit our Urban Redevelopment Authority Centre to see the models of Sg Island wide planning models & its many exhibits.
thanks for sharing. from a sg local. do consider if you have the time to go to the heartlands areas like Ang Mio Kio or Bishan via ( Red Line ) MRT from City hall or orchard. prices tends to be cheaper there and you get a feel of what the locals lives are like! have a safe trip!
If u take the North South Line to Toa Payoh or Ang Mo Kio, u can see how locals live our public housing estates. Every precinct has schools, common playground kids & exercise machines for residents, wet markets, supermarkets etc. U can also venture to Bishan- Ang Mo Kio Park to see its beauty & nature the the upper end of Kallang River with great biodiversity.
If you guys exited your hostel, turn right and walk 5 mins to High Street Centre (facing Parliament House), in there, you can find 3 food cafes at Basement 1, Level 1 and Level 2. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 2 won't cost you more than S$12.00 Because it's a local/no tourists kind of places 😊😊😊
I see that you guys could take spicy food. Have you guys tried laksa or nasi lemak? There are so many foods you haven't tried before. Popiah, bak kut teh, rojak, indian rojak, chendol, sambal stinray, sambal kangkong, hokkian mee, roti prata
Once, a friend from China wanted to try the famous Tian Tian Hainanese chicken rice at Maxwell Market. I chose to go there on a weekday afternoon at 4:00 pm and there was no queue. I can eat anytime so my breakfast is 10 am and my lunch is 3 pm and my dinner is 9pm. I don't understand why tourists choose to eat during peak hours, especially at popular eateries.
Lau pat sat is at the CDB and is a very touristy higher end hawker centre. For dinner and more local cuisine at a hawker centre should try Old Airport Road food centre. Even Chinatown Complex has some stalls open at night. By the way Chinatown Complex is the biggest hawker centre in Singapore. For indian food, there are tons of affordable options at Tekka Place hawker (at Little India)
Haha u guys r cute playing cards!! But remember to bring both water n an umbrella wherever u go next time. If u should be back, go visit the Botanical Garden; its Free n a world heritage site!! 😂
@AbbyandGaz of course the Night Safari n new Bird Paradise are not cheap but definitely worth the experience, or check out the museums. The govt has created numerous walking trails all over Singapore, for those nature lovers. This is the best nature we can do for our people... anything bigger u would have to go overseas. Haha!!
DANNY......SPORE FOOD PRICES IN ALL FOOD COURTS ARE ALREADY CHEAPEST ❗️❗️❗️ DO NOT COMPARE CENTS TO CENTS OR DOLLARS TO DOLLARS......FOOD QUALITY IS ALREADY WELL MAINTAINED ❗️❗️ FOREIGNERS WHO PAY SO MUCH FOR FOOD IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES AND VISITING SPORE.....THEY CAN WELL AFFORD THOSE NORMAL PRICES IN SPORE ❗️❗️❗️❗️ SPORE PRICES ARE SO MUCH LOWER AND CHEAPER THAN LIKE LONDON OR NEW YORK....PLACES WHERE THEY COULD NOT EVEN BUY DELICIOUS FOOD UNDER 6 SGD ❗️❗️❗️❗️ SPORE IS CERTAINLY NOT EXPENSIVE CITY.....MANY VISITORS AGREED WHOLEHEARTEDLY ❗️❗️❗️ THOSE VISITORS WHO COMPLAINED THAT SPORE IS SO EXPENSIVE .....ONE CAN ONLY GUESS THEY ARE ON VERY LOW BUDGET ❗️❗️❗️❗️ ON SUCH LOW BUDGETS......THEY MIGHT AS WELL STAY AT HOME IN THEIR HOME COUNTRIES❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️ PERIOD
You have visited one of the best places in Singapore 🇸🇬 especially the east coast park..do try some satay at Maxwell hawker center but it can be a little costly. Like both of your commentary as it is good & very detailed. You could visit little India & eat @ Ananda Bhavan or any of the coffee shops. Also do patronise Geylang Serai hawker Centre which sells exotic food.. last but not least love watching your videos and have fun.
why would u guys guys go past east coast lagoon hawker centre and not try that but instead back to the city to the most touristy hawker centre of all... makes no sense especially on a budget
Exactly !!! 🤷🏻♀️I was thinking .. surely you would eat at Lagoon Food Centre where there are cheap & delicious food . RUclipsrs usually don’t come here although it’s a lovely place where you can eat & enjoy the park view/ seaview. Hmmm 🙃
Thank you for not making one of those rage bait videos where the content creator just goes to the poshest restaurants, sits in a limo and stays at MBS and complains about it costing a kidney.
Huh ?? I thought surely you would eat at the food centre there after returning the bikes. Lagoon Fd Ctr has delicious , affordable food. Puzzled 🤔RUclipsrs hardly go there so that was your chance to show this place🤷🏻♀️
From a local, food can be relatively cheap but is generally bad because of factors such as high cost of operation, transient workers plus low quality ingredients greatly affect the taste of food. Overall, food is bad and expensive, but the branding or hype is first class.
Singapore is not expensive for hawker food, transport (train plus taxi) . Normal taxi (not Grab) about $1 for 1 minute . So can Singapore be one of the most expensive country in the world ? Don’t believe everything you read in media .
Typical tourist: Omg the food is sooo expensive in Singapore Also typical tourist: Only goes to restaurants and famous tourist traps Thank you for not being a typical tourist and exploring the true side of Singapore. If every meal cost $50 no one would survive here.
North Indian food in Singapore is not authentic. our native Indians are South Indians so you'll be better off having South Indian food like Dosas and sambar. sorry no one told u before hand
How can be non authentic as most of the food handlers & hawkers were originally from there..bt definitely it's not to the original taste coz of the ingredients & methods of cooking style used.
This is as good as saying Vietnamese and Thai food in singapore is not authentic because they are not native to Singapore. When in fact most vietnamese and thai food in singapore are opened and operated by native Vietnamese and Thai. Also it’s pretty myopic to say that our native indians are South Indians because i’ve had many north indian Gujarati and Sindhi classmates and friends whose families have been here for many generations from primary school through university.
Of course truly 100% maybe not because it is definitely localised to suit the local taste. But just as food recipes has variations between families and are still authentic, localising it doesnt make them any less authentic if the changes in taste isnt that big.
Laugh out loud😅 there is a satay street just behind of where u guys were eating, 🥣 shld do a content of the satay n rest of the Singapore food rather than just order blindly 😅

Nice to see a different side of Singapore 🇸🇬. Not the usual tourist areas……
Great to see u guys enjoying the non touristy parts of Sg & riding bicycles leisurely at East Coast Park taking in a slice of how locals live & relax.

Agreed! We were just highlighting the prices here and saying it was the same as the UK. It is a 1st world country hence why more expensive ☺️
@@AbbyandGazrentals are high, so prices just have to go up.....
I went to Penang and JB, the food there is just as expensive.
Singapore is NOT a first world country but a developing county according to Singaporean Minister for Sustainability and the Environment, Grace Fu
Welcome to Singapore. The best cheap and good food is visiting the local hawker center, I miss that since staying in Australia 😂
Yes so much delicious food
Not many tourist would visit east coast park. That was an interesting choice
We enjoyed it ☺️
What nonsense many tourist visit it LMAO
i bring tourists there if they wanna try satay.i drove a minibus 13 seater
@roslanbinahmadahmad8294 Good location and should be better deal than Lau pa sat
Love you guys!
Aw thanks ☺️

You guy’s miss 1 of the best hawkers in East Coast Park, anyway there always next time. Thank for sharing your experience in this tiny country ❤
I love Singapore 🇸🇬
my neighbourhood, the hawker centre at marine parade ain’t the cheapest around , if you want you should try those at the hdb heartland.
Ok thanks for the suggestion ☺️
@@AbbyandGaz you guys should try the old airport road hawker center , ain’t far from marine parade, they have a much bigger selection of food than us.

FOREIGNERS WHO PAY SO MUCH FOR FOOD IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES AND VISITING SPORE.....THEY CAN WELL AFFORD THOSE NORMAL PRICES IN SPORE ❗️❗️❗️❗️
SPORE PRICES ARE SO MUCH LOWER AND CHEAPER THAN LIKE LONDON OR NEW YORK....PLACES WHERE THEY COULD NOT EVEN BUY DELICIOUS FOOD UNDER 6 SGD ❗️❗️❗️❗️

PERIOD
If you cycled all the way down from the jetty onwards, you could have reach Changi Airport
you can rent a motorbike to tour Singapore aand it cheaper than you thought. You can cover Singapore in 2 days.

Halo MISS ABBY AND M.R GAZ
VERY ENJOY TO SINGAPORE
Thank you ☺️
You guys just walked past the famous Chinatown Food Centre?
Singapore does not look so much different to Kuala Lumpur. It looks equally modern to KL. I'm quite surprised. Maybe can visit when i have the chance.
I'm a Singaporean 🇸🇬🇸🇬🇸🇬🇸🇬
why would u guys guys go past east coast lagoon hawker centre and not try that but instead back to the city to the most touristy hawker centre of all... makes no sense especially on a budget

I can get a nice serviced apartment with infinity pool & views for S$72 in Kuala Lumpur😊
Yes Kayla lumpur very affordable!
Uber don't exist in singapore anymore. Most common private hire platform is grab.
Its too expensive for the bike. U should just download app and find a bike around. Like anywheel. One hr only $1-$2
Car and houses in Singapore are v expensive. Public transport food and clothing are still affordable
the roasted pork & duck cost only $4.50 in 2019.

👍
Expensive is subjective. Two items are undeniably expensive - housing and car ownership. Eating to live - you can do that on a budget.
Agree with you there!!

No true
Wah!! Super cheap guys!!!! I'm Singaporean but there are definitely better places to eat at😊
Abby kamu suka mewarnai rambut ke salon ga kalo aku boleh tau love from Indonesia 🇮🇩

Not Singapore is not an expensive country.
Nice one bro and the other gender!!!

Ooopssy. Easy to make mistakes when you’re new to a country
The last food court is a tourist place. I had not been there for years. I'm local. Fyi.😅
