    Singapore is a first world country, you can’t lump all Southeast Asian countries together and expect all SEA countries to be of the same price. You have to compare 1st world to 1st world, 2nd world to 2nd world and 3rd world to 3rd world.
    -from a M’sian working in Singapore

      @AbbyandGaz  15 дней назад +2

      Agreed! We were just highlighting the prices here and saying it was the same as the UK. It is a 1st world country hence why more expensive ☺️

    16:08 of the video, I was secretly hoping that you guys could venture a little bit more to try the satays (BBQ marinated meat on wooded sticks). During the evening like 7pm, the road just beside Lau Pa Sat will be closed and the BBQ grills will all come to live. You can get beers, BBQ prawns, BBQ chicken, beef, mutton and so on and soak into the atmosphere of dining in the open with towering skyscrapers around you. The experience is amazing and I love to go there. I'd recommend trying the chicken satay with peanut sauce at least. Thanks for the video, have fun and cheers. 😉

    Singapore hawker food stalls are affordable but for classier restaurants that serve Western cuisine, it can get really expensive. Singapore is great for the rich, but for commoners who are living on a budget, careful planning for travel expenditure is certainly a must!

  • @psreinc
    @psreinc 12 дней назад

    Hawker centres are great, but there is a pretty wide range in terms of food quality in there. You should always google to find out recommended stalls in any hawker centre instead of just randomly choosing one. The other option is to always choose the stalls with the longer queues.

    thanks for sharing. from a sg local. do consider if you have the time to go to the heartlands areas like Ang Mio Kio or Bishan via ( Red Line ) MRT from City hall or orchard. prices tends to be cheaper there and you get a feel of what the locals lives are like! have a safe trip!

    If u take the North South Line to Toa Payoh or Ang Mo Kio, u can see how locals live our public housing estates. Every precinct has schools, common playground kids & exercise machines for residents, wet markets, supermarkets etc. U can also venture to Bishan- Ang Mo Kio Park to see its beauty & nature the the upper end of Kallang River with great biodiversity.

    If you guys exited your hostel, turn right and walk 5 mins to High Street Centre (facing Parliament House), in there, you can find 3 food cafes at Basement 1, Level 1 and Level 2.
    Breakfast, lunch, and dinner for 2 won't cost you more than S$12.00
    Because it's a local/no tourists kind of places 😊😊😊

    Once, a friend from China wanted to try the famous Tian Tian Hainanese chicken rice at Maxwell Market. I chose to go there on a weekday afternoon at 4:00 pm and there was no queue. I can eat anytime so my breakfast is 10 am and my lunch is 3 pm and my dinner is 9pm. I don't understand why tourists choose to eat during peak hours, especially at popular eateries.

    Lau pat sat is at the CDB and is a very touristy higher end hawker centre. For dinner and more local cuisine at a hawker centre should try Old Airport Road food centre. Even Chinatown Complex has some stalls open at night. By the way Chinatown Complex is the biggest hawker centre in Singapore. For indian food, there are tons of affordable options at Tekka Place hawker (at Little India)

      DANNY......SPORE FOOD PRICES IN ALL FOOD COURTS ARE ALREADY CHEAPEST ❗️❗️❗️
      DO NOT COMPARE CENTS TO CENTS OR DOLLARS TO DOLLARS......FOOD QUALITY IS ALREADY WELL MAINTAINED ❗️❗️
      FOREIGNERS WHO PAY SO MUCH FOR FOOD IN THEIR OWN COUNTRIES AND VISITING SPORE.....THEY CAN WELL AFFORD THOSE NORMAL PRICES IN SPORE ❗️❗️❗️❗️
      SPORE PRICES ARE SO MUCH LOWER AND CHEAPER THAN LIKE LONDON OR NEW YORK....PLACES WHERE THEY COULD NOT EVEN BUY DELICIOUS FOOD UNDER 6 SGD ❗️❗️❗️❗️
      SPORE IS CERTAINLY NOT EXPENSIVE CITY.....MANY VISITORS AGREED WHOLEHEARTEDLY ❗️❗️❗️
      THOSE VISITORS WHO COMPLAINED THAT SPORE IS SO EXPENSIVE .....ONE CAN ONLY GUESS THEY ARE ON VERY LOW BUDGET ❗️❗️❗️❗️
      ON SUCH LOW BUDGETS......THEY MIGHT AS WELL STAY AT HOME IN THEIR HOME COUNTRIES❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️
      PERIOD

    From a local, food can be relatively cheap but is generally bad because of factors such as high cost of operation, transient workers plus low quality ingredients greatly affect the taste of food. Overall, food is bad and expensive, but the branding or hype is first class.

    • @manseb5211
      @manseb5211 15 дней назад +9

      How can be non authentic as most of the food handlers & hawkers were originally from there..bt definitely it's not to the original taste coz of the ingredients & methods of cooking style used.

    • @reeeyou
      @reeeyou 11 дней назад +2

      This is as good as saying Vietnamese and Thai food in singapore is not authentic because they are not native to Singapore. When in fact most vietnamese and thai food in singapore are opened and operated by native Vietnamese and Thai.
      Also it’s pretty myopic to say that our native indians are South Indians because i’ve had many north indian Gujarati and Sindhi classmates and friends whose families have been here for many generations from primary school through university.

    • @reeeyou
      @reeeyou 11 дней назад +1

      Of course truly 100% maybe not because it is definitely localised to suit the local taste. But just as food recipes has variations between families and are still authentic, localising it doesnt make them any less authentic if the changes in taste isnt that big.
