      Technically I'm a lutheran, but I don't really find myself in conflict with anything the Catholic Church teaches apart from the intercessory of the saints/Mary, as well as Papal infallibility. The Pope may be head of the Catholic institution but at the end of the day he's a man, and any man can make errors. I believe Christ is the head of the church and man's intercessor to God the Father.

    A council just makes so much more sense than a single pope in matters of doctrine

      No, you simply don’t finalize the council. All valid ecumenical councils had supermajorities who came to their decision without any coercion.

      Why? Truth is not decided by consensus, or a simple majority, or a 2/3 majority or even a unanimous vote. Truth is truth if everyone denies it, and a lie is a lie if everyone accepts it as truth. There has to be an authority in matters of faith and morals. If there is no single authority, then we end up with 40000 different congregations.

      Yes we need to weigh what the Pope says carefully, and give it consideration. Unless something is proclaimed Ex Cathedra, we do have a choice in many matters. We are not in a cult with a leader that we must obey any and everything. With that being said, I also like to look at what the Pope actually states before I go and click on commentaries from others. Things may be taken out of context or exaggerated at times. This Pope does seem to have some views or statements that are on the border line of our beliefs…it’s a fine line to walk.

    • @onlyicedcrybaby7297
      @onlyicedcrybaby7297 3 месяца назад

      Its not borderline anything. It's completely different. I can read. No where does it say in 2024 you can bless gay marriage in the church. Which book ? Chapter ? Verse? Where. Which version ? Catholics aren't Christians. You are a Catholic.

    • @davyrantucci
      @davyrantucci 3 месяца назад +1

      @@onlyicedcrybaby7297 technically he is trying to get around it by saying blessings are for individuals and not blessing the couple…that’s what borderline means. Priests have always been able to bless anyone, even Non Catholics. The Document for the blessings state that its blessing the individuals and not the union, however, when two come up together outwardly it will cause scandal as it looks like it’s blessing the Union. So he definitely is walking that fine line. But the gates of Hell won’t prevail against us. I just pray for him and that others are not swayed by his decisions into sin, however the ultimate judgment lies with God. I fear the next Pope will be worse. We don’t deserve a good one.

      @eldermillennial8330 3 месяца назад

      Why do you take for granted the false post-enlightenment definition of “religion”?
      I prefer Chesterton’s, “Religion is the process in how man relates to the universe & politics is how we relate to one another”.
      Now, the Triune God is beyond the universe, but His Will & Angels do keep it in order, so it is not wrong to relate to God through the universe, in a balanced way. To reject that is to fall into a soft Gnosticism .

    • @jazrel21
      @jazrel21 3 месяца назад

      @@eldermillennial8330 did I say I reject religion? No, right? I know it is a system of belief and it is how we run things through the lens of faith. My point is, I don't find my identity in religion, it's in Christ alone, and that is through a genuine relationship with Him. A lot of of people put pride within their religion and obliviously neglect a true relationship with the Lord. Which is why Christ had more issues with the Pharisees(which by the way are the teachers of the Law and are supposed to be closer to God and to be His representatives to His people) than the common people which were sinners, and most are even despised by the people esp the religious ones.
