I love both the Catholic and Protestant churches. I pray that all Christians in all Denominations will let go of their differences and come together for God. This is a time of chaos, we all need to unite, live God's will, and vote for the candidates that most represent God's will for government offices, and then hold those candidates to their promises.
We all need to put God first in our lives and walk the walk, not just say the words.
We may not all agree on everything but we all love God! ❤

I used to be Catholic. Baptized as an infant and did first communion and confirmation. However I was never a Christian or a disciple. I was not saved. I did not know Christ until I believed and trusted in Him alone. Only faith in the finished work of Christ and His righteousness will save you.
James and Romans do not contradict each other but rather complement each other. In light of the context of both books, the "protestant" interpretation is the one that makes sense. If you have true faith, your works will be evidence of it. If you have no works, you have no faith. It is not talking about your works saving you. Works will not justify you before the throne.
Baptism is an outward expression of a regenerate heart. Baptism itself cannot save either.
Only faith in the finished work of Christ and His righteousness will save you.
Mark 16:16 - Jesus says to the crowd, "He who believes and is baptized will be saved." But in reference to the same people, Jesus immediately follows with "He who does not believe will be condemned."
What about the parabol of "Good Samaritans" ??

Catholics don’t believe that you will go to heaven just because you received the sacraments. We believe in addition to general grace there are graces received in the sacraments that will help you in your faith or living out vocational sacraments etc if you cooperate with it. It’s not even that the Church’s position is that someone can’t be saved without baptism it’s that the only Known way is what Jesus told us. It’s because Protestants deny the sacraments as special graces and even characterize some Catholic sacraments as “works”. which they have to because they deny the apostolic succession of authority to deliver them. Baptism ofcourse can in certain circumstances be given by anyone because of what we understand that sacrament as doing. Marriage can be performed by Deacons because we understand the man and woman as the ministers of the sacrament with the church giving its witness and consent. In any case Catholics don’t see sacraments as works but Gifts given to the Church by Jesus in his ministry that we didn’t earn. If sacraments weren’t important it would be strange that Jesus placed so much emphasis on baptism, confession and Eucharist. One has to understand that in Paul’s church all of these were central and accepted to the people he was talking to….when he is talking to pagans it’s assumed once they receive the gospel they will then join the church and receive the sacraments…
To claim it must be personal, but which verse backs it up? Rather, anyone can make a claim and find a verse to support it. I am with you, our personality matters, but it matters like Mary's obedience mattered.

Ephesians 2:8-9 says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast."

The Catholic salvation model is as follows:
Repent : of sins
Receive : the grace of God in the form of the Sacraments and other means
Remain : in a state of grace, ie, not being in a state of mortal sin.

The Council of Trent Canon 32 says, "If anyone says that the justice received is not preserved and also not increased before God through good works, but that those works are merely the fruits and signs of justification obtained, but not the cause of its increase, let him be anathema." If you have to do good works to be saved, how is salvation a free gift received by faith? If you work for something, it's not a gift anymore. It's something you earned. The only thing we can earn is death. Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
I understand Good Works to be an outpouring of ones having been saved by Grace through Faith. The Protestant in essence believes that Good Works are a FRUIT. My question then is….Why isn’t Good Works listed among the Other Fruits of the Spirit??? If it is in fact a FRUIT by which we should know them then it would also be listed amongst the other fruits of the Spirit. Sincerely seeking the Truth ♥️🔥🙏🔥♥️
I just want you to know, this was the beginning of my exploration and deep dive into Catholicism. I came to Christ 1 year ago, and after many convictions about so many different doctrines (every other church), I kept searching for truth. Then, I learned about church history, how Catholicism is literally Christ's church. What the founding fathers wrote about (while they HUNG OUT WITH the disciples). I then looked into the biblical sources as to why catholics believe what they do about Mary, Eucharist, etc. IT IS ALL THERE. That and this strong conviction in my heart to keep searching for truth. I'm now 99.9% sure I am converting to Catholicism and it's the real church.

I really want someone to remind him of one of the first people who entered into the Kingdom Of GOD solely because of their Faith In CHRIST … the thief on the cross! “Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? He wasn’t the only case as well. But Catholics will cope saying they are only exceptions to show God’s unending grace.
The whole concept of baptizing babies is crazy anyway. Are we really going to believe that hell is full of tormented newborns that weren’t baptized since they were somehow unclean. Like since when do you have to pay for sins that you hadn’t committed, the Church fathers never even agreed on this point if my recollection is right.
Catholics have weirdo beliefs like this that just pop up out of nowhere and you can’t ask questions and must believe in it otherwise you can’t be a Catholic which necessarily means you go to hell.

@anglishbookcraft1516 I'm not catholic but I think it's because everyone is born into sin. Even if you haven't committed a sin yet. And even if the murderer wasn't baptized, I think it's okay. Only Jesus can bend rules and make the impossible possible.

There is only one truth, biblical Jesus. Anyone who read Bible at least once will know. The only way to eternal life is through Jesus. All religions were created by man and given a name to label. Jesus ordered apostles to spread Christianity to all nations but he meant his good news. No matter how many good deeds you will do throughout your lifetime it won’t save you. Repent today and sin no more and once you do that all good work will come through holly spirit because only then you are truly doing a good deed.
So George please tell us how the thief on the cross got into heaven without baptism.

Wow, George… thanks for representing! What I will say in response to the Catholic vs Protestant debate…. Let’s just all see where we end up on judgement day. We are all Christians in this argument and I wish we would focus on what we have in common rather than the differences. Because Christians are constantly persecuted let us unite on our commonalities rather than divide on our differences. Divided we fall, and United we stand! My mom was Catholic … my dad Baptist. My grandma was Catholic.. my grandad Baptist. I chose Catholicism as an adult. I was sad to hear the Protestants did not recognize Catholic baptism but Catholics recognized Protestant baptism… so long as your were baptized under/in the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. We are related/connected whether some would like to acknowledge that fact or not. Jesus died for all of our sins and didn’t ask which denomination we attend.✝️❤️
And what is the "Name" of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit? His name is Jesus.

Catholics do not recognize protestant baptism. I was baptized catholic as an infant (& received a certificate) but was never confirmed and then I baptized myself in a Protestant church when I was old enough to understand religion. I was not allowed to marry in my local Catholic church to my catholic husband without doing everything over again. My local catholic Dioceses has the final say who can get married in the church, regardless of works. If you are not a catholic at all, there is an option to donate(pay) more to get married in the church, but again, the diocese have the final say. Only some churches offer this option, but my husband’s childhood church did not.
So in James it talks about Abraham being justified by works Paul talks to Abraham being justified by believing God. When you look at the moments each author is referencing in Abrahams life Paul referring to Abraham being saved by believing before the moment in Abrahams life James referred to where Abrahams works or actions proved he already had faith (which is when Paul said Abraham was saved) the whole point is James isnt using the word justified in the same way as Paul. James isnt using justified in a meritorious way rather in the sense that Abrahams faith was vindicated by his works.
Yup his actions and obedience validated his faith it showed that it was genuine not that it merited him salvation or he was owed it because of what he did.
The Lord does not care about your denomination! He just wants you to follow him and pick up your cross!

I really like these discussions.. keep this subject alive please!! I would like to comment on how protestants claim that once you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior etc.. that you are then saved and will make it to heaven. Done, its a closed deal and you are saved.. What then will happen after you or whomever just accepted Jesus sins again! Are they still saved! where do you draw the line? Who gets to decide or claim they are still saved because they accepted Jesus? You will sin again.. it just about inevitable as human beings to not sin. If it were the case that you are saved by faith alone etc.. then you must explain and define what the faith really means. Faith is not just believing. It is an ACT! For example, if you take a married couple who are having marriage problems and are going through a divorce. They will have to face a judge in court to go over why they are getting a divorce etc.. Lets say the wife's argument is that her husband was not faithful to her. How would the judge in this case know if this were true or not? The judge would need proof of the unfaithful claim made. The wife can say things like her husband committed Adultery, he lied to her, he stole from her, he never did anything for her, he didn't love her etc. In this case the judge can officially say this man was not faithful to his wife and they are divorced. The marriage is dead. Now, if you were to look at this another way as to if the man was an honest person, worked hard, cared for his wife, was loyal to, and last but not least loved his wife... then the Judge can claim this marriage is good and valid! My point in all of this is our faith in God is not just to claim he is your lord and savior and or just believe in him. It is a ongoing relationship as if you were married to God. By showing God that you are being faithful you must do all the loving duties a good relations requires. Then, when you face the JUDGE you will have a very good fighting argument that you were faithful! This is the beautiful thing of the Catholic faith. It is a never ending fighting and challenging relationship to be faithful to God. The more you work at it the stronger and better it gets. And, it will increase your chances on receiving God's grace for eternal salvation.
I don’t know ant Protestants who believe that though I’ve heard this argument online. I think they’re countering the idea that you need to do works in order to be saved. Yes, you must have faith to be saved but you must also have genuine remorse and repentance for your sins which brings about a changed heart that no longer wants to sin. And through a continual relationship with Jesus, you produce good works through the working of the Holy Spirit. A person who only says he believes in Jesus but has no change in his behavior is not genuine in his faith or a baby Christian. How cruel would it be if God said you have to be perfect and sinless before you could be saved. God is so merciful and Jesus came to save sinners after all and not the righteous. It’s not up to me to judge whether they’re saved though as only God knows the inner workings of the heart.

That’s exactly what I thought about as well.
The thief on the Cross is Saint Dismas. He wasn't exactly in the position to be baptized or do good works after he placed his faith in Christ. It's often referred to as a baptism of desire. I wish George had pushed back on the idea that God can't save someone who isn't baptized (through no fault of their own). The Church teaches that we are bound by the sacraments but God is not.
@@sjh993 Jesus himself was baptized as an example to us, He instituted baptism. God never wanted religion it has always been about a relationship with Him Men created rituals.
Or if they do believe the thief on the cross was saved, it's because of their own made-up types of baptisms, not baptism by water.
I think the point is that it’s hard for us to interpret the Bible on our own. Human beings would always come up with different interpretations. God would need some kind of structure in place in order to interpret the Bible infallibly. The Holy Spirit used human authors, human prophets and now its using the magisterium of the church instituted by Christ.
Only the Holy Spirit can lead us into all truth and He will.
Jesus did promise us that the Holy Spirit would be with us to help us understand all the teachings He gave us.
Faith like a child. You don’t need to be an expert to understand the love of God and His gift to us. The ones who over-complicated it (added tradition, works, etc) were confronted by Jesus for this very issue.
@@judgedredd31 jesus took part in all the jewish works and traditions, he did not condemn them or the law. He then instituted new works and traditions such as baptism, confession, and the eucharist. Theres not only scripture that shows that these things were practiced in the first century, theres plenty of historical evidence outside the scripture, a lot of it written by bishops who were ordained by the apostles themselves. The holy spirit used the apostles to teach without error and they passed on their authority with a laying of hands to the next set of bishops. There is a multitude of evidence that even from the first couple decades, there was a structure and hierarchy in the church: Bishops, priests, deacon, then laity. The bishop of Rome was clearly the highest seat from 1st century evidence. The holy spirit worked through this structure and frequently squashed heresy from individuals that thought the Holy Spirit was showing them truth. Yes we frequently feel like the Holy Spirit is telling us something but if that something is going against the church then its most likely a different spirit that wants to keep us blind to and divided from the church.
And even then they can't agree amongst themselves...

I’m a Protestant (church of Christ), and I actually agreed more with the Catholic beliefs on baptism more than the Protestant ones. Because of what scripture says, I believe water baptism is when we receive the Holy Spirit, and I believe it’s necessary to enter the kingdom of Heaven.
But for god to deny a non baptized man into the kingdom of heaven, if such man couldn't receive baptisms but accepted the word of jesus and his grace later on in life is to deny the word of god and the nature of his love and understand of the circumstance of free will and what's beyond our own control. Its not your fault if you disnt get baptized and found Jesus until your final moments.
If you know about baptism you should get baptized and confirm your faith to Jesus. If circumstances prevents it, Jesus will still accept you into his kingdom, as scriptures confirm. This is how Jesus operates and scriptures are very clear.
Baptisms is important but you are not condemned if the word of god doesnt reach you to begin with. God sees through everything and understand the world we live in and the fact that not everyone is able to even get to know his word or being able to become baptized in time. To deny this is to deny not only the scriptures but the teachings of the Catholic and all the other Christian denominations.

Regarding baptism, there are verses that specifically say baptism is required to be saved. Some of them are Acts 2:38, John 3:5, and 1 Peter 3:21.
Regarding those who never hear the word of God, there are many passages that say otherwise. Romans 1:18-23, Romans 10:13-15 and 17, Acts 4:12 are three good examples.
I don’t base my beliefs on the teachings of men. I base it on what God says in the Bible. If a person says something that aligns with God’s word, I agree with that person but my belief isn’t based on their teachings. If a person says something that doesn’t align with God’s word, I’d rather align myself with God and his teachings than the teachings of a person. So if I’m denying the teachings of many different churches (not all - there are Christian denominations who don’t believe what you do regarding baptism), so be it.
I understand that both of these include a level of unfairness. Unfairness for those who never heard the name of Jesus and unfairness for those who died before being able to get baptized. However, I also believe God’s ways are higher than mine and he’s a just God. I don’t have to understand, I don’t have to agree, but I do have to follow him and his word. It’s not our place to subject God to what we as sinful humans believe is fair. However, it is our place to trust that God is still good and still merciful and have enough humility to understand that we won’t always understand why certain groups of people aren’t saved.
Did the thief on the cross next to Jesus, whom Jesus told would be with Him in paradise, actually enter into paradise with Him? Your answer to that question will tell you if you actually believe water baptism to be an absolute necessity to enter into His Kingdom.
The church of Christ is NOT PROTESTANT! what does that even mean? I’m a Protestant ( church of Christ). How long have you been studying your Bible ?
@@maddoxcampbell2230 The Church of Christ is Protestant. There are three branches main branches of Christianity in the US: Protestant, Orthodox, and Catholic. Some people do not consider it to be Protestant and consider it to be its own independent branch, but most people use the system with three branches and sub-branches. The difference between each branch is their highest source of authority. For Protestants, it’s the Bible. For Catholics, it’s a combination of the pope, church councils, Catholic tradition, and the Bible. For Orthodox, it’s tradition, the Bible, and the patriarch. If you don’t consider it to be its own branch, the only one of these that COC would fall under is Protestant. Also, there is a difference between studying your Bible and studying religion. The next time you disagree with someone regarding religion, please do some research first instead of being disrespectful and insulting.

This was brilliant and I look forward to Mr and Mrs Farmers born again experience taking place. I pray the Holy Spirit draws them even closer to the Father, and the Truth revealed that Jesus is the only way to salvation. Theology has many interpretations but the Word of God says you need no man to teach you the things of God for the Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth, even the most ignorant and unlearned children of God can come to the truth without religion. Man made religion I avoid because we are flawed as people and while many of us can have varying degrees of theology, we cannot fully understand the ways of God and that’s where our faith comes in. I pray the Farmers whom I love very dearly continue their journey to Jesus in complete unity, and that the marriage is a reflection of Gods love for his bride. Love you all 3 dearly for discussing these topics. How difficult it is!
Bible is very clear, apostles are the foundation of the church which is why it’s important to study the early church and that’s a stumbling block for Protestants as they have no ties to that foundation and only self giving authority
I'm beginning to notice the beginning of a theme here. Why is it that non-Protestants are more and more finding it necessary to make the differences in our scriptural interpretations personally insulting. It definitely takes away from the spirit of learning from and tolerating each other's opinions. Really unnecessary and not helpful. I'm not Catholic, and I'm not going to Hell. @@BarendsZA True, my beliefs have narrowed to Christian doctrine. I have weighed and set aside many other cults and belief systems at this point. However, I'm still favor of prayer for all those precious souls. God says that He is not willing that any should perish. That's a heavy burden for Christians and a frequent cause for criticism of Christian proselytizing. While salvation is a personal decision, Christians who want to follow God's instructions are bound by the instructions of the "Great Commission."

As a Catholic, my stance on salvation is in between both of these. I don’t think you’re automatically saved by faith, but I also do not think baptism and sacraments are required either. And I don’t believe in mortal sins. To me, being saved means you have faith and repent of your sins, plus you make a conscious decision to be a better person. If someone believes in God and Jesus, but they live a life of being selfish and never trying to abstain from sin, they will not be saved. If that person is on their death bed, they must recognize and apologize for the life they lived. You must repent for your sins and actually try not to repeat them. You can’t take God for granted and say “well He forgives me anyway, so I don’t have to try”

No. What the thief on the cross did do was make a simple pronouncement of faith in Jesus Christ, the only absolute requirement to enter the gates of Heaven.

Discerning this passage properly along with scripture in its entirety will lead you to see that the criminal on the cross was never told that he was forgiven, nor that he was saved but instead that he would be with him in paradise but why the difference?
Everyone after death will enter paradise to kneel before our Father and await his judgement but few will enter his kingdom.

As Christians we must learn to distinguish between paradise and kingdom in order to properly understand it within scripture. No one knows if the criminal was forgiven for his sins nor that he was saved from them but only that he entered paradise to kneel before our Father and await his judgement. A judgement only he can decide.

Doesn’t this mean that the other criminal entered paradise as well? Yes, won’t we all enter paradise when we kneel before our Father? Where else is his throne located at? Where else would we be judged? but is there a difference between the two criminals?
Before his death, the criminal who spoke with Jesus on the cross did a few things different than the other criminal next to him. By his actions/works/deeds, he spoke in fear of the Lord, confessed his sin as he stated that he deserved to die for his crimes, acknowledged Jesus through his faith when he asked to be remembered and trusted his life to Jesus as he knew he would also die.

The criminal on the cross who spoke with Jesus would not only kneel before our Father in paradise as the other but the difference is that he would also be acknowledged by Jesus himself before our Father for the actions he demonstrated before his death.
We can only pray that by our Father’s grace, through the criminals faith and by the works he demonstrated to Jesus as he hanged alongside him was good enough to be granted salvation but we must refrain from claiming that our own evaluation of the criminals story can determine our Father’s judgment, for who are we to declare anyone forgiven or even saved, what power does a mere human have?
Jesus while on the cross, taught us that it’s never too late to fear the lord, to confess, to acknowledge and trust in him while we are still alive. At the same time, Jesus showed us the free will we are given to decide for ourselves just like the other criminal… some won’t fear the lord, some wont confess, some will deny him and some won’t even trust him but the option of salvation will always be there.
The criminal on the cross who entered paradise did much more than people want to admit because they prefer a simpler way to salvation. They willingly promote that they are “saved by grace through faith alone” which is taken out of context as having more power than what the New Testament teaches in its entirety. Worst, they claim that those few words taken out of context have more power than everything Jesus himself taught. Jesus never once taught that you’re “saved by grace through faith alone” nor did he ever mention that statement anywhere in the New Testament.

He doesn't understand that baptism is a Public declaration of your faith within the church community, that is why you don't baptise yourself, by yourself. You do it surrounded by believers and generally its done by a senior leader of the church. It glorifies God, as does the supper we share as a church body in the memory of Christ's sacrifice for us, that we as a body can reflect on our sins and pray to be washed clean before partaking and being worthy of the process.

The Catholic man has no understanding of baptism, and he definitely did not win this debate. The woman just doesn’t know her stuff that well. Baptisim doesnt mean what he says. Baptism doesn’t give a person salvation. The word baptism comes from the Greek word “Baptizo” which means immersion, or to dip or plunge. Baptism represents the death, BURIAL and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God commands us to die to our old sinful self, and be resurrected to new life in Christ Jesus. This is the meaning of baptisim. This is why infant baptisim is heretical, because a baby cannot make this decision. They simply do not have the entail capacity to make such a decision.
Second, we are not saved through works as many Catholics believe. Ephesians 2:8 says “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one may boast.
It’s quite clear that we are not saved by works. The works are simply the evidence that we have salvation. James 2:18 says faith without works is dead. The works is the evidence; not what does the saving. If we could be saved by works, there would be no need for Jesus to die on the cross! This again is heretical. We cannot earn our way to heaven by doing good works. Our good works are worthless rags to God. We can never be good enough for him unless we accept Jesus’s death on the cross (his sacrifice) which justifies us.

Jesus Christ sacrifice on the cross is what saves, NOTHING ELSE. Not works, not baptism, nothing. Jesus says in John 14;6 “No one comes to the father except through me”
Often, Catholics want to Earn salvation by works but that mentality will lead them to hell. We cannot be saved by any act accept trusting in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour and having faith in him. The key to this debate is studying Gods inerrant word. The truth will set you free.

I came back to Catholicism from being a protestant for many reasons. One, all early church writings and saints taught catholic. Second, for 1,500 years after the pentecost, there was no bible interpretation which protestant currently holds. How did after 1,500 years we have to interpret bible differently? Because of this there is only one catholic church but hundreds of protestant churches all disagreeing with each other.

He talked about literalism, but to interpret the Bible literally is to interpret the Bible according to its literary genre. Not one of the apostles would have understood Jesus to be saying that that bread at the Passover Seder was actually his physical flesh, and that’s a fact. Should we go worship flames? The Bible is full of metaphors. The Bible is its own best interpreter. I converted to Catholicism after reading the early church fathers and learning church history.
The Reformers rediscovered the early church fathers. You can barely tell the difference between Augustine and Calvin. It was the corrupt church of Rome who went away from the church fathers.

No Catholic is saying we aren’t saved by faith and the grace of God. This verse is literally just saying you can’t work to get into heaven.

You're in for the adventure of your life! I read through the entire Bible (NIV) a couple years ago. Now I am in the process of reading through the KJV. And then after that I'm going to read the NASB Catholic Bible. I personally recommend that, at least once, you read through the whole Bible without additional study. That is to say, read through it all without going to the internet or a pastor or a Bible study, etc. I say this because there is so much clutter and assigned meaning to the Bible that come from other people and it can cloud the mind. But when you simply sit in the quiet with it and read it exactly as it is written, it is far easier to get to the bare bones of it.
I've read through the Bible many times and different translations. I highly recommend the New Living Translation for modern reading - but keep in mind the KJV is used for quoting. There are known issues with several other translations.

@@luredemia I am very much liking it. After 7 months I am now on the Gospel according to John. I am reading it cover-to-cover but I think reading it chronologically would be even better. The notes are helpful, but I am already looking forward to the Ignatius New Testament Study Bible for an even better understanding.

I would like to share a deeply transformative experience that occurred after I had been away from church and faith for nearly twenty years. I was saved and baptized when I was 7 but that was a long time ago. I had stopped reading the Bible, praying or going to church for decades. I was at my great aunt’s funeral, which was nearing its end, I was sitting quietly at the back of the congregation. As I was reflecting on my own absence from faith over the years, I was unexpectedly touched by the Holy Spirit in a manner I had never anticipated or believed possible.
Suddenly, I felt a sensation like lightning striking my chest, followed by an overwhelming flood of divine unconditional love that surged through me. I can only describe it as liquid light, almost pouring over me like honey. Tears were pouring out of me like never before, feelings of pure peace and contentment and joy. It felt like my heart would explode from love if it kept growing in strength. This was so intense that my wife had to assist me to the bathroom because I was unable to feel my body and needed to completely surrender. If it had been a normal church service I would've been at the altar. Despite my concerns about how others might view me at the funeral, I could not resist the power of what was happening to me, I was receiving what some call the baptism of the Holy Spirit, others say he just refills you with his spirit and that you received the baptism at conversion. Either way, this was the work of God.
Once in the bathroom, lying on the floor and fully surrendering to this experience, a vision began to unfold....I was enveloped by a brilliant, golden-white light, and I saw cathedral-like windows stretching endlessly upwards into the distance...the golden white light pouring into the room. Within this light, a throne appeared covered in jewels of all kinds. Nobody was sitting on it, as I remembered Jesus said no man had seen the father but him. And to the right of the throne was a lamb gazing at me. Above the throne, three golden crowns adorned with red jewels emerged, which I later was told by the Holy Spirit was the promises and inheritance God has made to me and my family. Our crowns of life.
The next morning, the Holy Spirit instructed me to share my testimony with every church in my county. I have been following this guidance, speaking to a few people at times and, at other times, addressing entire congregations. I still feel his presence daily as there are times there is a warm fuzzy fire like sensation in my chest when I need soothing or directing. Jesus referred to this as the living water springing forth from within. I have learned to pay attention to this as often it's him getting my attention to something happening around me or guiding me.
This experience has served as a profound reminder of God’s presence and promises, despite my long absence from church and scripture. I share this testimony to highlight the transformative power of divine love and grace and to affirm that even after a significant period away from faith, God's presence can reach us in the most unexpected and profound ways.

I really enjoyed this, this was truly insightful.
However what kept nudging me is that at the end of the day, when Christ returns, He isn’t coming for a divided body or focus on those with the right doctrines or denominations, He will be back for those who reflect Him, those who are led by His Spirit (Romans 8:14). The goal of the Christian faith isn’t heaven, not even so we have good morals, the goal is so we will be conformed to the image of Christ (Romans 8:29, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Colossians 3:10, Galatians 2:20, Ephesians 4:24, etc) God wants to populate the world with Christlikeness, to restore it to holiness and righteousness, that’s what Jesus was on earth for.
So in as much we live by logic and practice denominational faith or defend traditions (which keep us in line), a personal relationship with God through the Holy Spirit is supposed to be the focus of our lives. Being led by the Holy Spirit will produce christlikeness in us in the form of Love (Galatians 5:22-23), which is the sole differentiator between us and the world (John 13:35).

Salvation is personal we can’t determine if someone is saved based on their knowledge because anyone can say they understand the Gospel and say I am saved but you really have to believe it an have a relationship w/ our Savior.

What if he had refused to offer up Isaac and had told God "I don't have to offer up my son because I am saved by faith alone I don't have to be obedient or do anything." If faith alone was enough then surely they would also be saved because they believe in Jesus but we know they are not because they are disobient to God so faith alone itself is not enough

They've never heard of the Council of Nicaea. The very fact that there were hundreds of years of Christianity in the absence of a Bible should tell you "sola scriptura" is nonsense- because was literally impossible. How could you have a religion based solely on scripture when the scripture didn't even exist? There's obviously more to the religion than that. This very fact is what makes Christianity so amazing- there was obviously enough noise and miraculous witness that people turned to look and follow. Against all odds- people followed. In the absence of a Bible- they followed. Being chased around and killed- yet they followed. There was obviously something there....but there was no Bible. So how could it be sola scriptura?

Then go forth in the world and sin freely as you may. The world is your oyster. Maybe if you have some free time tomorrow you can go rob a bank. Just make sure you’re baptized first.

The thief on the cross was presumably not baptized. Does that mean he would not go to heaven? Of course not! Belief and baptism are necessary to those who have the opportunity to obtain them. If they were to be impeded from being able to believe or be baptized, and that could be the case for many different reasons, then God would judge them in accordance with what they were responsible for.
Christ says in Matthew that, like Jonah, he would be in the belly of the earth for 3 days. Acts tells us Christ remained on earth for 40 days before He ascends. So there were 43 days BEFORE Christ went to Heaven. Did the good thief go ahead of the Lord to make sure the lights were on for His arrival? Or, more likely, Paradise that Christ mentions, is Abrahams Boosom. The place where the prisoners Christ preached to in 1st Peter were awaiting the Messiah

A large proportion of us are not the thief on the cross. We have the opportunity to receive baptism through spirit and water, the ability to participate in the Eucharist. So why, if we have the opportunity to do these essential practices, would we not do so?

Being born again is not a Catholic or Protestant issue. It’s an individual choice. The gospel of Christ is written in the scripture. We are saved by faith, through grace, asking forgiveness of sin through Yeshua, the Christ, who died for our sins.
Amen! We need to get back to the Word of God and not put him in a box of Catholicism or Protestantism. It is not through our works but only through God’s grace and our belief that Jesus died on the cross for our sins is how we are saved.

They are saying the same thing at 9:00. Anyone with genuine faith would be doing good acts inherently. The acts help prove your faith is genuine instead of lying about it.
As a former non-denominational Christian and recent convert to Catholicism, I would say this discussion illustrates why I came to my own conclusions. I think God's saving power encompasses all we believe and more in ways that go beyond our understanding (which incidentally is also in the Catechism).
Much of the Protestant arguments against Catholicism-I know because I used to make these arguments myself- are based on an incomplete understanding of what the Catholic Church actually teaches. In other words, most of what I hear against Catholicism from other Christians (yes, we are Christians too) are strawman's arguments.
Luke 23:39-43 recounts how the thief on the cross believed that Jesus was God and had done no wrong. The thief did NO extra works, only had faith in Christ, yet Jesus said, “today you will be with me in paradise”. To me, this clearly communicates that salvation is through Christ alone, truly by faith ALONE, and that not of ourselves.
Also the thief was not able to get baptized, but still went to Paradise with Jesus.

This is also one instance. It was prior to baptism that applied the blood of Christ and prior to the baptism of the Holy Spirit being poured out. We cannot go to the thief on the cross for an example of how we should approach Christ. God is merciful, but if we know to do good and do not do it, it is sin to us.

God gave us the plan of salvation and made it available to us. It had not been given to the thief, but his faith saved him. God can do what He wants. We cannot live however we want and believe that the Lord will blindly accept what we know to be wrong. He is merciful, but He is also just. ❤

The Catholic man has no understanding of baptism, and he definitely did not win this debate. The woman just doesn’t know her stuff that well. Baptisim doesnt mean what he says. Baptism doesn’t give a person salvation. The word baptism comes from the Greek word “Baptizo” which means immersion, or to dip or plunge. Baptism represents the death, BURIAL and resurrection of Jesus Christ. God commands us to die to our old sinful self, and be resurrected to new life in Christ Jesus. This is the meaning of baptisim. This is why infant baptisim is heretical, because a baby cannot make this decision. They simply do not have the entail capacity to make such a decision.
Second, we are not saved through works as many Catholics believe. Ephesians 2:8 says “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- 9 not by works, so that no one may boast.
It’s quite clear that we are not saved by works. The works are simply the evidence that we have salvation. James 2:18 says faith without works is dead. The works is the evidence; not what does the saving. If we could be saved by works, there would be no need for Jesus to die on the cross! This again is heretical. We cannot earn our way to heaven by doing good works. Our good works are worthless rags to God. We can never be good enough for him unless we accept Jesus’s death on the cross (his sacrifice) which justifies us.

Jesus Christ sacrifice on the cross is what saves, NOTHING ELSE. Not works, not baptism, nothing. Jesus says in John 14;6 “No one comes to the father except through me”
Often, Catholics want to Earn salvation by works but that mentality will lead them to hell. We cannot be saved by any act accept trusting in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour and having faith in him. The key to this debate is studying Gods inerrant word. The truth will set you free.

My experience precisely. To know the u seen one in a way that is almost scary...the savior comes to you when you pray and you also feel his presence in your heart. Even when we don't FEEL his presence, we KNOW that HE abideth in us by faith.
Faith works. So if we abide in his presence or spirit we won't fulfill the lust of the flesh. That means that all of us love sinful things naturally. Without even thinking but with spirit no work we do is righteous. Why? Because that work doesn't come naturally. Righteousness is a natural work of Christ very own Spirit. This is what was poured out at pentecost and is still here today. The life of both the Father and the son given to those who believe. This works will naturally come out of those who abide. The problem is that professed Christians try to be Christlike without abiding in Christ. That is self righteous. Only God and Christ are good.
God wouldn’t make it that hard… to have to follow an order of events like “catechism” or being baptized at the right time, to be saved. He says come like a child, he desires everyone be saved, it’s not complicated and it’s not earned. It’s a gift given to those who believe in their hearts. The thief on the cross wasn’t baptized and catechized, and because of his faith and repentant heart, Jesus said he would see paradise. God is not the author of confusion. This basic verse will help… “seek first the kingdom of God, and all these will be added unto you” just seek Jesus with your whole heart and the rest will unfold before you
To say that there's nothing you can do to lose your salvation is ludacris to me. You can't just live anyway you want committing any sin you want and expect to not lose your salvation !!
@@juliemonyak8984 yeah, the Bible says some will have their names blotted from the book of life. How can someone get into the book if they are not saved? So being in the book means being saved, being blotted from the book means what once was is now lost.
They get around that claiming those that don’t do works and repent and change were never saved but it’s like how do you figure that out and why does it matter?
It is helpful to think of salvation as "adoption" and once you are adopted and become a child a God you cannot be unadopted, just like when someone has kids those kids cannot become not their kids.
What you don't understand is that when you are saved, you receive the Holy Spirit, and it is the guarantee of eternal life and is clearly written in scripture.
With the Holy Spirit inside of you, God has made you a new creation with new desires that do not take pleasure in sin. It is not possible for a born-again Christian to make a habit of sinning.
So, someone who has the Holy Spirit and knows they are saved can not just live in unlimited sin for the rest of their life. They cannot.
If someone lives in much sin claiming they are saved, they were likely never saved because you recognize a born-again Christian by their fruit, what they produce.
A born-again Christian produces good works.
The bible is clear on the fact that the Holy Spirit is the guarantee of eternal life, meaning when you receive it, you can not lose your salvation, you can not if you recieved it in the first place.
It isn't that the Holy Spirit is this "guarantee of eternal life." It is that the Holy Spirit is the very essence of life itself.
The Bible clearly shows that the Holy Spirit is the giver of life. It is always portrayed as "breath," or God breathing life into creation. It is not only the saved who have this breath, but all of the living, including the plants and the animals, the saints and the sinners. This is a profound thing, a free gift, and a gift so ubiquitous, and so necessary, nothing on this earth would be alive without it. It is that divine spark that separates things that are alive, and things that are not.
So, yes. Those who are "born again" have the Holy Spirit. Those who have yet to be "born again" have the Holy Spirit. Those who will never be "born again" have this spirit. And the reason all of them have this spirit is because, if they didn't have this "breath of life," they wouldn't be alive. The presence of the Holy Spirit must come before baptism because, if it wasn't there, there would be no person to baptize, and nothing that would motivate a person to even do so.

I was catholic homestly didnt know my faith as good as i should of so my protestants friends bullied me out of my church in a sense using the bible so i left after some years i learned why protestant have become catholic n really learned n returned to the truenchurch of Christ
