This sounds an awful lot like what Doug Tennapel was saying on the episode where you discussed an artist's motivation with him. It also reminds me of the discussion of a Leonardo Da Vinci Biography on the Book Pile (please don't think I'm patient enough to read a biography) where they made jokes about him wanting to find a patron so he could get paid and do whatever he wanted. So, basically, good art can only happen when it's both produced and valued for excellence rather than pragmatism. I don't know why anyone would disagree with this episode.
Surely not. It’s better to phrase it, “Ambition doesn’t create great art.” The problem is that our freedom has given rise to us quickly getting to bottom line and to money. Only Marxists try to divine bad intentions by freedom-loving capitalists. But capitalism doesn’t ’require’ you being motivated by ambition & money. It can instead simply provide you with the freedom to create and this allows good men motivated by duty to provide for a community. That’s not an anti-capitalism scenario.
The problem we discuss (which has ruined our streaming services) has nothing to do with ambition and everything to do with money being the only incentive.
I think they titled it that way to lure in the Socialists. 😂
Haha -- getting socialists with preconceived notions, or conservatives with rage bait? Maybe BOTH!
Could it be that capitalism funds the opportunity to study how to be more of an artist?
Maybe, but it's even more obvious that art schools don't produce great artists. Next week's episode??

Thank you Sarutaru.
