Jonathan is very genuine. He really like Philippines and the people. He is not staying here just for vlogging but he really loves the people. The fact that he interacts with the locals a lot. Not pretending.

No wonder why a huge influx of foreigners are frenzied in coming to the Philippines not only bcoz of its natural pristine beauty but the filipinos themselves who are truly friendly and chatty and most of all, the non-language barrier bcz english is pretty much widely spoken in the country.

Hi Jonathan from Charleston SC!! I came across your vlogs a couple of weeks ago and now I'm hooked. I'm a Filipina who moved to the US when I was 17. I recently went back 2 years ago for the first time in decades. I sponsor a couple of families with children and the mothers are the only ones supporting their children; hardly anything to eat and no housing 😞. I love seeing you genuinely interact with the kids and everyone you meet. Thank you for showing everyone kindness and gratitude. Godspeed with your travels , thank you for showcasing my beloved country and much success with your channels. I subscribed and binge watch on my weekends off. Ingat and Salamat!

Sticky rice with mangoes is something that we already have in the Philippines. It’s not a copy of the Thai dish. The presentation though varies. In some areas, the sticky rice is wrapped in coconut leaves and then served with sliced fresh mangoes and thick hot chocolate. I think a similar presentation as the Thai’s would be Cebu’s puto maya.

Hey Johnathan, you weren't eating thai food. I'm from Cebu city and the sticky rice you were eating is a tradional Cebuano breakfast called puto maya. Its normally wrapped in banana leaves and served with sikwate (real hot chocolate) and mango. It can be also found in Visaysas and Mindanao region. Glad you liked it.

1.) Puto Bumbong IS NOT ube sticky rice. It is sticky rice but has no ube. The purple color is food color, but the legit one uses black (dark purple) glutinous rice and white glutinous rice. No street vendor will use black glutinous rice because it’s super expensive.
2.) Filipino ice cream is also called “dirty ice cream”, not because it’s dirty but becaue it’s sold on the street. It’s mostly made of coconut milk instead of whole milk. It’s not vegan though because they add a little bit of skimmed milk.
3.) Mango sticky rice DID NOT originate in Thailand. It’s a Lao food. When Thailand invaded a part of Laos, they embraced their food like sticky rice and mango sticky rice.
