I just married a Filipina last month from a southern province of Luzon. This video captures the hospitable nature of the Filipino people and the reason I decided to marry a Filipina. I had to return to work after our wedding and have only been out of the Philippines for a few weeks, and I am already homesick.
The excitement of those kids getting to interact with you is infectious. It constantly astounds me how people with little are the happiest. A leason for all of us.

All Filipinos know how to speak English, even if it is broken English. Filipinos are exposed to different dialects that's why they learn easily to speak English or any languages
Learning foreign languages is very important. However, preserving own language is more important. I know (some well, some beginning level) 7 languages, however I still pay utmost attention to speak and write my mother language flawlessly. Pinoys are not paying enough attention to their mother languages (Tagalog and local languages). I always explain to my Pinoy friends and future relatives the importance of Tagalog and other local languages. The language is the core of a culture. Once it is gone, the bridge between the past and the future is destroyed. Written language seems like English in Pilipinas now. In my opinion this is very wrong. Pinoys must be proud of their lnaguages.
I hope you realize how fortunate you are being outside of the U.S.A. and in the Philippines. I live my dreams through your Philippine travels. I know there are many other beautiful places to visit and live but given a choice, my forever home would be the Philippines THANKS.

The old lady is saying that her name is Luzviminda which is short for LUZ-on, VI-sayas and MINDA-nao. Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao are the 3 main islands of the Philippines. Those 3 Main Island roughly divides the Philippines into 3. Luzon being the upper part of the country, Visayas being the middle part and Mindanao being the Lower part. You are in Cebu which is in Visayas. (Central Visayas to be specific).
This is what makes you, Jon, different from all the rest. Your connection with the Filipinos is just unparalleled, plus your good nature shows in even the smallest interaction that you have with the locals. 😍
You are such a kind and beautiful human being. I’m a Filipina who left the Philippines and moved to San Francisco, California in 1980 at the age of 14. I’ve visited about 5 times; I was just there in February for my sister’s 60th birthday celebration turned into family reunion because she invited both sides of the family. Brought back a lot of fond childhood memories and I had a lot of fun bonding with childhood friends and extended family. I’m hoping to convince my husband to retire there.
