Some kababayans think that we are friendly to foreigners because they have money. That’s a very sarcastic and ignorant point of view. We’re really very friendly, not only does it break the monotony of work, it gives us a sense of value, “you see me as a person and not just a service provider”. I’m Pinoy and rarely do our kababayans frown at me when I talk to them or smile at them. Usually it’s returned with a smile and a quick chat. We are always ready for a friendly conversation. It’s fun and uplifting.
No. You’re friendly to foreigners (specifically white people) because of the white worship ideals. It’s the basis for wanting to hitch an “afam”, to be able to marry a race you think is better, to elevate your perceived status in society. You believe that by marrying white, you get to be in a better class, more status, more yabang compared to other pinoys. You think a white man will salvage you out of your life- land of milk and honey chariot. White savior complex- it’s true and it’s deep. The colonial mentality is so deep that a sight of a white man, a lot of Filipinos are drooling. It’s quite sad actually.
That woman in the store who gave you tuba is the true representation of Filipinos’ sincere welcoming spirit. Very sweet and charming with a wide smile.
Filipinos are naturally chatty and comfortable with foreigners. They're not shy. Easy to talk to. Comfortable communicating in basic English. Easy for foreigners.

I am a Filipino and proud to say with my whole heart l invite to all good hearted foreigners to visit Phil. and enjoy our kind, caring hospitality. Your experience here will not forget thru out your life. Please visit this country again. Thanks.
I am grateful for your recent exploration of the island. Your journey had me convinced that you had ventured off the beaten path and stumbled upon a different beach, one that was not the Hidden Beach. However, I was pleased to learn that the way to Hidden Beach was not far from Salagdoong Beach. While your visit was brief, I encourage you to stay longer and explore the island's lesser-known destinations and beaches waiting to be discovered. These secluded spots are often overlooked by tourists, both local and international, who tend to flock to the crowded beaches of San Juan. By venturing to these off-the-beaten-path locations, you may become the first foreigner to do so and feature them on your vlog. Imagine the unique experiences that await you, from trekking through lush forests to discovering hidden coves with crystal-clear waters. Your journey could inspire others to seek out these hidden gems and experience the beauty of the island in a more intimate and authentic way.
Puso is Hanging Rice. It is just rice covered with palm or coconut leaves. Kan-on is just rice. But if its wrapped with palm or coconut leaves its called Puso. I guess its called Puso because it is usually the shape of a human heart. In tagalog, Puso literally translates to Heart.
Ahhh eggplant is talong or tarong in some regions. Yes, with the ginataang puso, I think you are referring to puso sa saging (banana blossom). You and your filipina friend cooked that in your bohol video.
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL Puso [pooh'-soh] is generally the Filipino word for "heart" ü The banana bud inside of which are the male flowers is heart-shaped, hence "puso ng saging" (heart of the banana). Malunggay is a kind of vegetable. It's very good for chicken tinola soup. It has good benefits for nursing mothers. It's moringga in English term. It helps produce mother's milk for nursing moms. It can also cook with coconut milk.
At least I can see the rest of the Philippines through your videos. Got to love the people there for sure. So beautiful. No coconuts to buy here in Florida. LOL

the best thing about it is that it can grow anywhere as long as it has soil and a bit of moisture.. before you know it, you would have an abundance of leaves..
Brilliant share,I have never visited The Philipines but I hope to one day.I love that you are not afraid to taste foreign foods,I love food but sometimes worry about food I can not pronounce. Still, really lovely to watch. Thanks so much
that's been super high on my list for a long time.. the only reason I haven't gone is because it's not that easy to get to.. I think you need to book the ferry in advance and leave from Jagna, Bohol.. 4 hour ferry.. or fly into Cagayan de Oro and go from there.. but it seems to be one of the best islands from what I've heard!
After Mergim, you are the second foreigner whom I find very friendly with the people you met. It’s good to see that you are enjoying the Philippines. Stay safe! New subscriber here btw
As a filipino, we appreciate a lot for every foreign who visit here from any part of the world and we appreciate the effort from you guys trying to speak our native language/dialects. That's the reason why we really love foreign who can speak tagalog and bisaya. Thank you for visiting our country.
Just watching your videos makes me jealous! I’m originally from the Philippines and I miss my birth place. been in the U.S.A. not been home for 16 years. you’re a lucky guy that you’re enjoying life. Enjoy!
Getting very good with the local dialect which is visayan, or cebuano. Miss the philippines, your in fact a hour away from my alma mater, silliman university. Im from dipolog city by the way, but im now based in new jersey usa
i remembered the foreigners earlier today who asked for direction on how to get to the falls on our place and he was shocked when i answered in english lol coz i love to wear tattered shirts like its hot and i really look funny earlier coz i just woke up... glad to help them with directions....
These beaches and roads were GORGEOUS! Thanks for sharing. Also FWIW, tides follow the moon. So a low might be at 9am as easily as noon - just gotta check the tides that day.
To be fair, if you could find Secret Beach easily then it wouldn't be much of a secret :P Amazing video btw. I've been itching to go to the Philippines for some time now. My friend of over 15yrs is from there, and the people and sights are to die for. The USD goes much further too, which is always a plus. I went to Puerto Rico when I was a wee lad and the beaches in this vid remind me of those times. :)
@Travel Escapes Eggplant is "talong" Jonathan and "puso" is the type of rice steamed inside the coconut leaves that way in the Visayas - take away rice for people on the go. "Puso" in Tagalog is also heart. What she gave you is fresh "Tuba" which is the must from the coconut palm and is turned into liquor and vinegar when fermented.

You should tried Nilupak is made from boiled cassava, butter or margarine, and condensed milk or sugar. It's commonly enjoyed as a midday midday snack or after-meal dessert. The root word LUPAK is to pound its a general term when you cook a certain type of kakanin that needed to mash or ppund.
The age limit on driving in the philippines is 16 and above... But in some rural areas i the philippines you could see kids as young as 9 taking their dads bike around town
I keep on coming back watching this episode. Been living in the US for almost 8 years and Im wishing and hoping to come back to Philippines for good in the next 5 years. I love the simple life with nice people around.❤❤❤
Young coconut has meat that is jelly-like consistency that is easier to eat and has a sweeter taste but the juice is usually bland/tasteless. And it is the the opposite when you eat mature coconut like he had in this video. The meat is tough, fibrous and bland, but the water is sweet and full of coconut flavor. It is the mature coconut meat that is ground where they extract coconut "milk".
Malunggay is an amazing plant grown everywhere in the Philippines. It has many beneficial nutrients and is used in a lot of the Filipino cooking. Check into it. It is an amazing food. Another great video Jonathan. Cheers!
I apologize this one was delayed. I posted one last Saturday of the Boodle fight.. I tried to get this one finished yesterday, but it wasn't ready. These longer videos take awhile to edit.. It must have taken you a long time from going in circles before you finally got out. 🤣🤣🤣

Oh, wow. What. A. Day. At the 28min mark and even from before with the dirt road forks and all, we were saying: Uh-oh, Jonathan…where are you going being lured by the steps that seem to lead to a cave? Thankfully, it was a way to the shore. But oh, what a secluded shore it is. The view of the great Bohol Sea is gorgeous, though. A little rough, that shore, but the sea sure is mighty. Great to see you get through the day.
PS. Hope the eyes have healed. Great to know it's not conjunctivitis which, in the Philippines, is commonly referred to (but not entirely accurate) as "sore eyes."
Hi Jonathan !! I LOVE Philippines and will NEVER grow tired of this beautiful Country. One question though: Why don't you ever visit Palawan? PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO OF El Nido and Coron.

its not a coconut wine yet because its still freshly harvested from a coconut flower. it will just become wine when it will undergo the process and adding ingredients to become wine.
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL when other ingredients is mixed then it will become wine and will turn into brownish maroon liquid. in bisaya we call it "TUBA", thats coconut wine hehehe
There is no other ingredients added to make the coconut sap or tuba becomes fermented. It will ferment on its own. Fermentation process depends in the Sugong (collecting vessel or container which is made from bamboo segments), some or most Manananggot or Mananguete (coconut sap harvester or maker) prefer not to wash their sugong after collecting the coconut sap to expedite the fermentation process. If the sugong is not washed after collection, fermented residue from previous collection will help the coconut sap ferments faster. But if you want a very sweet and flavorful coconut sap or tuba this world can offer, just thoroughly wash the sugong with clean water every after collection. Believe me, its best natural drink in the world.
@@pwertingutogatv5742 without tungog the coconut sap will still ferments on its own.The major physical, chemical and microbiological changes occurring in the fermenting sap indicated that a natural fermentation of coconut sap consist of an initial lactic acid fermentation, ito yong stage na sobrang tamis pa ng tuba, a middle alcoholic fermentation stage, ito yong may alcohol content na ang tuba at nakakalasing na lalo na yong bahalina and a final acetic acid fermentation stage, ito yong nagiging suka na ang tuba. Based on your claim that without tungog the tuba will turn into vinegar, my question is: almost all manangguete use tungog, then why their tuba still turn into vinegar after a few days despite adding some tungog? With or without tungog, the coconut sap will still undergo those 3 stages of fermentation ive cited above. Tungog is both fermentation agent and tanning agent for tuba, thats why your tuba keeps on releasing gases in the form of bubbles and gives your tuba its pale orange distinctive color. Without tungog, the coconut sap will still ferments because it containts yeast and other useful bacteria that eats away the sugar content of the coconut sap.

The vegetable you asked the guy is called Moringa. In Seychelles we use it a lot for cooking and medicine too. When we got hang over we make soup with fried fish, also cooked with coconut milk and dried salted fish.
We use this to stop bleeding in wounds in the Philippines .Best vegetables/medicinal plant ever. A super food
the best thing about it is that it can grow anywhere as long as it has soil and a bit of moisture.. before you know it, you would have an abundance of leaves..
Brilliant share,I have never visited The Philipines but I hope to one day.I love that you are not afraid to taste foreign foods,I love food but sometimes worry about food I can not pronounce.
Still, really lovely to watch. Thanks so much
What a beautiful view, so peaceful. Love to hear the birds chirping.
I agree!
I heard Camiguin Island is another peaceful and beautiful island. Not too far from Siquijor. I plan to check it out next time I go to the Philippines.
that's been super high on my list for a long time.. the only reason I haven't gone is because it's not that easy to get to.. I think you need to book the ferry in advance and leave from Jagna, Bohol.. 4 hour ferry.. or fly into Cagayan de Oro and go from there.. but it seems to be one of the best islands from what I've heard!
@@travelescapesOFFICIALJagna to camiguin 3 hours ferry directly..
Aquarium come visit our place
Camiguin is so beautiful. Very clean.
camiguin is the best island by far. you can book a flight from manila ($50) or cebu ($30)
love your interaction with the people. you're really very polite
Enjoy!
I don’t take it for granted! Hopefully you can come back to visit soon!
Getting very good with the local dialect which is visayan, or cebuano. Miss the philippines, your in fact a hour away from my alma mater, silliman university. Im from dipolog city by the way, but im now based in new jersey usa
I’ve got a long way to go with learning the languages 😂
I love watching your videos Jonathan! Thank you for making a new one..much love from Canada but born and raised in the Philippines❤
thank you for watching and supporting in Canada!!
i remembered the foreigners earlier today who asked for direction on how to get to the falls on our place and he was shocked when i answered in english lol coz i love to wear tattered shirts like its hot and i really look funny earlier coz i just woke up... glad to help them with directions....
These beaches and roads were GORGEOUS! Thanks for sharing. Also FWIW, tides follow the moon. So a low might be at 9am as easily as noon - just gotta check the tides that day.
To be fair, if you could find Secret Beach easily then it wouldn't be much of a secret :P
Amazing video btw.
What she gave you is fresh "Tuba" which is the must from the coconut palm and is turned into liquor and vinegar when fermented.
the must? what part is that?
@@oxoelfoxo The flowers of the coconut palm are cut and the must is collected from these in bamboo tubes attached to the flowers. ruclips.net/video/-tNp4RAkHPQ/видео.htmlsi=8Sjo8o6JZmx8H9vE

Oooo they definitely looked younger than 16 haha
I keep on coming back watching this episode. Been living in the US for almost 8 years and Im wishing and hoping to come back to Philippines for good in the next 5 years. I love the simple life with nice people around.❤❤❤
they really are the nicest most chill locals! Come on back! I left the US 10 years ago and haven't moved back!
your vlog is interesting people in the philippines is amazing and you interact well thank you jonathan your good person
Friendly suggestion do not go alone in a secluded area, try to bring a friend or just avoid going alone for your own safety reasons
Thank you for all your hard work, its very inspiring.
Thank you for watching!
Advocate of New things, that is cool. Thanks for coming to the Philippines 🇵🇭 and God bless
Enjoy your travel in the Philippines. May the Lord guide you, where ever you go.
Enjoy your channel Johnathan . How do you stay in the P.I. long term? Peace/Cheers
I extend tourist visas and leave/come back on a new tourist also
Malunggay is an amazing plant grown everywhere in the Philippines. It has many beneficial nutrients and is used in a lot of the Filipino cooking. Check into it. It is an amazing food. Another great video Jonathan. Cheers!
Superfood basically.
Jonathan please more vlog to upload every week we are just missing your content channel always.
I apologize this one was delayed. I posted one last Saturday of the Boodle fight.. I tried to get this one finished yesterday, but it wasn't ready. These longer videos take awhile to edit.. Love that. You are the best vlogger. Salamat kaayo!
Where you bought the coconut they can take magical photos with your phone when you fly a broom. It is just up the stairs behind the relaxing sofa. (From the couple you met at the karaoke bar and at the hotel across the road)
Thanks for saying that Chris! Oh, I didn’t know about that upstairs!
Hi Jonathan I love your vlogs, if u have time please visit leyte/samar island it's near bohol it's very underated island with great culture
When I saw the part where you got lost with all those trails going in every direction, all I could think about was, ‘This must be the Sequior people always talked about being mysterious, enchanted, and places where witches live’!!! 😳😳😳 And, I noticed how you didn’t show how you got out of that place. It must have taken you a long time from going in circles before you finally got out. 🤣🤣🤣
😂 no, it was easy getting out. The video was Just getting long and I had already shown a lot of driving scenes, so I Just decided to speed it up and go ahead with the next scene
i'm so hooked on cliff diving... i'm anxiously awaiting a video of you jumping from this place. And charge your drone remote next time lol.
It turns out the controller is broken…

MAbait kapo sir jhonathan na bloger ingat po ikaw palage welcome ka dito sa pilipinas
Oh, wow. What. A.
Always amazing videos Johnathan. Thanks a ton bro 👍🏼. I can’t wait until I make it over there to explore
Hi Jonathan !! I LOVE Philippines and will NEVER grow tired of this beautiful Country. One question though: Why don't you ever visit Palawan? PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO OF El Nido and Coron.

Hi my friend Jonathan!thanks for Visiting Siquijor🎉
Hi! Are you Roy from the video?!
@@travelescapesOFFICIALI think it's him. You rock @roygaming7052 :)

Omg. Literally stayed in the same cottage!!! Beautiful
Really? Small world!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL yes! and in the same exact room too. Beautiful view and very relaxing.
its not a coconut wine yet because its still freshly harvested from a coconut flower. it will just become wine when it will undergo the process and adding ingredients to become wine.
Oook gotcha.. thanks for the clarification!
@@IsaganiOnahon not me, im a tuba (coconut wine)maker, if you you will not add the what we call "tungog" in bisaya, it will turn to a vinegar.
Lots of the words I understand, because very similar to Spanish
Yeah the numbers and “how are you?” Are very similar
Philippines was colonized by the Spaniard that's why we have lots of borrowed words from them.
Thank you for being such a respectful, considerate traveler ❤ Kamusta from Manila!
Yes indeed Siquijor is very beautiful, crystal clear water, less people, less crowded beaches! Perfect! But the problem the locals have are: Water i have heared, Hospital that is most of foreigners also have to look to beacuse of their health issues

Hi Johnathan. Question. How high is the cliff jumping? I haven't been there yet but I'll make next time. Those DJIs are alot of hype to me. I've got a S132 and it's never let me down. Even in an 15mph wind. First lesson I've learned is always carry a portable battery pack😊
