The island hopping tours of the Philippines are a popular day trip for many Filipinos and foreigners on vacation, but sometimes I prefer to stray from the pack. In this episode in the the Philippines, my friend and I explore islands near Bohol, Philippines.

Hey Jonathan, I travelled to The Philippines a few weeks ago, primarily encouraged by your clips. We must have crossed each other along the way! It was so exciting to be in familiar places, to travel by local bus, Jeepney and tricycle and to practise my new words and to meet, eat and just have fun. First time solo TP traveller. I had a ball. Good job 👍 🚌
❤❤❤
I have fun watching your videos, I havent gone in that place except Boracay , Cebu and Mindanao.
Yes Christine is smart lady
Hey Lisa! I’m glad you had a fun trip that my videos helped encourage you to visit! I love hearing that!!
😊@@travelescapesOFFICIAL

The store lady who insisted on giving the change was 👍🏻
She was funny!
@@travelescapesOFFICIALso true. I'm always laughing. So funny and enjoyable.
Jonathan, you're making me jealous. I was a filipino citizen, but I've never been to where you've been going. Thank you so much for showing me how amazing the Philippines 🇵🇭 ❤
Youre filipino language is improving. Keep up the great work!
Hi jonathan maybe it's good to see you and Anne travelling together
Thank you again for another great video. Such relaxed and genuine wholesome interactions, I can see how you can motivate people to come to the Philippines just because of your videos.
Your the man my friend your videos are amazing one day I would see the Philippines
Thanks so much Chris! Hopefully you can one day!
Our family went to Balicasag and Virgin Island back in 2020 before the pandemic and quarantine started. We saw dophins and sea turtles. I also remember snorkling and there were tons of fish it was like swimming inside an aquarium.
I’m a fan of the sea turtles!
❤
Thank you for watching God bless

Balicasag has changed a lot. A few years ago, that island is empty. stayed there for several days in a small hut & we loved it! 🏖️☀️
I know very well what that happy feeling is when you find a "perfect" place in the Philippines. I lived there for a while in Aguson del Norte, but now...back in Mississippi 😕. Making plans to move back before I get too old to enjoy it. Stay safe and happy. From tupelo Ms
Dude man. ! Cool vlogs. I went to dipolog to capture my wife 5 years ago. Cool city. Cool attractions there.
I love the cool interaction you have with Ann. Please do more cooking segments with her. It’s very entertaining.
I’m Daryl from Branson Mo. 👍🏻👍🏻‼️☮️

@@travelescapesOFFICIAL and what’s funny, i find my self learning some bisaya from your vlog- i speak Ilocano and Ibaloi 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I like the way you interact with locals. Thanks you Jonathan
They’re the best part of exploring the Philippines!
The seller asked "are you here for watching?" she was referring to coral watching.
Thank You Very Much for the new upload. 🎉😊🎉
And thank you for watching it!!
Hello Jonathan Love all you videoke Thank you
Thank you!!
Thank you for sharing this video, Jonathan🙂
Thank you for watching!!
It was so fun watching you converse with the ladies, buying your coffee! Makes me miss talking to my aunties and uncles. Your Bisaya is getting better and better! 😀
Thank you for God bless
You getting better in visaya 😂 funny hearing you talking visaya with the local that’s so cute
It’s mostly just random words I know haha
Another awesome video. Thank you for sharing it. 🙏
Thank you for watching it!
I missed Balicasag. I lived there in the 90’s before I came to Kuwait 🇰🇼 at that time there were 25households only. Nostalgic ❤
Oh wow! That would have been super cool to see. I may go stay there for a night!
Very enjoyable interaction Jonathan. I had a good laugh with the locals.
😂 thank you for watching!
It’s really good your learning Bisayan Cebuano as 2/3 in Mindanao speaks same language. You have to visit Mindanao too someday. 👍
I subscribe..enjoy watching for the first time...I am from Mindanao. Watching from Reno Nevada USA.
We enjoyed the dolphin watch in Bohol. I think it is a hit or miss thing.
It was a cloudy day when we went out and also about a dozen boats with us. It was definitely a fun day. It is worth renting the GoPro for the snorkeling adventure. Also recommend checking the tide table you you arrive at Virgin Island close to low tide. Otherwise the sandbar will be covered at high tide.
Gihapon means still and is used as in, "Gigutom gihapon ko," which means, "I'm still hungry." Butong is the Visayan word for the young coconut while lubi is our general term for coconuts, whether young or mature.
That’s the problem in Balicasag island the drinking water. When I was there we’re dependent only in the rain water, we have to save and stocked the rain water. Very Beautiful island but difficult to live without water. Specially drinking water.
Cool vlog today. Can't beat the chill island vibes life 🌞. 🫶🇵🇭. Fr. SF CA 🇺🇲
You genuine cool guy..always love content ..
Positive...happy... the stuff the world needs ❤❤❤❤❤
Hey how is your friend liking his trip there ..is it much of a culture shock for him? I also find it fascinating that all of the villagers are still trying to get you hitched lol I love it 😂😂 cheers buddy and thanks !!!!!!
ive been watching your videos everyday while i am preparing for work.. its funny u exactly know what they are trying to mean in vernacular 😄 seems that ur more familiar to the language . .more vlogs with steven
I love hearing that you enjoy watching my videos! 😂 I just base my interpretation off context haah
I'm watching your vlog and you are such a kind of guys that fit what your doing as a vloger, friendly and learning how to speak Tagalog, visaya and etc...take care always and be safe !!!!
Wonderful videos! Would have been wonderful if you talked a little bit of the tides around this time on the different popular beaches, I still did not managed to find any information. We will travel in christmas and want to choose the best beach for swimming. TIA
Still on with the great adventures, Jon. Enjoy every bit of it. I hope that friend of yours is enjoying as well. he is a little laid back. ☺
Yeah he’s pretty laid back! Better than stressed or uptight 😅
Hoping you always enjoy your travel ,because we are enjoy watching you ,take care
Hi Jonathan, love your videos! I am visiting the Philippines next year for 5 weeks, my mother is from Davao. Because of your videos I feel so much more connected to my heritage. I do wonder; you’re traveling with a friend right now. But most of the time you don’t. Do you get lonely sometimes? And how do you handle it?
Hi Clarissa! I'm actually going to talk about that in my upcoming recorded Q&A video I'm working on. But to answer it here, I'm just used to it. I spend most of my time alone, and it's just become normal for me. It's not what I want, but it is what is. Sometimes there are good coworking or coliving spaces that you can find around the world with other digital nomads doing the same thing, and so that is a great way to meet people. Or language exchange meetups, meetups arranged in facebook groups, etc.
Talking to locals gets you more info and knowledge of where to go what to do. Not wanting average anything tours prefer hiring going where I want no schedule-my pace my choices. If I’m with someone we confer. Choices matter lol. Have a great week and thank you again🙏🏻❤️
I wouldn't worry too much about the Dolphin. They can always dive deeper or do a 180 to avoid issues, they are pretty intelligent and very aware of their surroundings. They also travel in pods to extend their "sight" and expand their "knowledge" of the surroundings. I am willing to bet they were having fun, unless the boats were using sonic devices like sonar fish finders.
Your video is always been amazing ! So far Your video is the only vlog that haven't been involve in any dramas😂 unlike some other vlog that I watch lately lol.Keep it up people will love you for sure.stay safe enjoy and have fun!
Tell me, tell me! Which vlog is that you watched where there’s drama?
Always the best ❤ hi Jonathan be safe always . Enjoy
Thank you!! You too!
I love watching your videos. You can also visit the Southern Luzon part, in Bicol region particularly Sorsogon. It's also a very nice province. You will experience a lot of touristy places. Greetings from Manila! Enjoy!
Thank you for the tip! And I’m assuming this is where I can eat Bicol express?!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL why u nkt dating anne you guys are awesome together
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL yesss! Bicol express, laing, and lots of dishes and fruits you may not find in other parts of the Phils. There are places there that when you swim it's either too hot(hot springs) or too cold( it's like the water has ice on it). There are beaches, mountains, lakes, etc. The people are very warm and hospitable too, and Bicolanas are 'magayon'/maganda, just like me, LOL!
You have great energy! I am flying into manila Wednesday march 7!
Happy to see ur video always make me feel Im in philippines now
G0d bless Jonathan, i always watching your vlog i love it.🙏🙏Take care always.💖🙋
FWIW: you might have success dissolving the coffee powder in a small bit of hot water, then adding the cold for a smoother cup of cold brew. 😊
Not a bad idea!
i like this video because it's 45 min duration..more ads but i don't skip to support your effort..btw, "pawikan" is sea turtle but the usual living on land most of the time is "bao"..the word "also"(tambien) is "pud" emphasizing quantity(included) while "gihapon" means "still" emphasizing time..like "how are you" kumusta ka answer "good"maayo adding guapa/guapo gihapon"still beautiful/handsome" if one says"i am handsome"ako guapo or guapo ko and another one says "me too" in bisaya " ako pud"
Thank you for the translation and for not skipping ads! I don’t choose where or how often the ads are placed, i just let RUclips do that. Were there a lot of them? Thank you for watching!
After travelling in the South.. Hope to see you explore the Northern Philippines as well :)
I'm staying on Alona Beach now.. Always great content
Oh nice! Welcome! And thank you!
Really enjoyed your blog n interaction with the locals, tnx for your vlog bro
Thank you for watching!!
I love your vlogs. It feels like I'm watching a livestream!! Also, I'm learning bisaya the same phase as you 🤣🤣
Oh really? Have you found a good source to learn online? I can find Tagalog but not bisaya
Thank you for visiting the Philippines ❤❤❤
Hi Jonathan! Bet you didn’t miss Thanksgiving! Getting chilly here in Vancouver WA. Enjoy my home country. I have family in Panglao
Yes, that's the way to go about drinking and eating fresh coconut❣️😋 So very healthy for us😊 and such a beautiful island, too💕
It definitely is!!
Jonathan,Hope your friend will decided to stay longer in the Philippines.
Amping Brother 😎
Amping!!
Scrambled egg in bisaya is tortilyas. Sunny-side up is estrelyao/estrelyawo (estrellado).
Be careful with the word #Ugay or Ugay-Ugay 😅😂it's a double meaning word. Usually, it's ain't use for food, but about how you handle something. It's closely related to caressing something so gently 😅.... Scrambled in Tagalog is (Bati) and scrambled Eggs it's (Binating Itlog) also (#Bati) has a double meaning, so careful using them😅...it closely related to ugay😂....it's just about naughtiness 😁✌️
I know most of the people in Bisayan Region knows English better than Tagalog, just base on experience. Just some of them are hesitant to speak, but if they're expose to foreigners then that's when it's becomes easy for them to communicate and have a conversation with you.
But, appreciated the effort for learning Bisaya 😊❤
Love Alona beach and Balikasag Island too my friend 👋
I remember going to balicasag dolphins were swimming very close to tge boat they were almost asking to be pettd, i hope u get to experience them someday❣️
jaja these ladies where on top of you two, I'm not going to lie, they got something special...
Food is expensive in Balicasag because they have to ride in a banca/motor boat in order to buy groceries in Panglao. There is a government facility there, the Balicasag Island Dive Resort. It's a very nice place & the food is good also. Nice video Jonathan. Ayo-ayo, amping 💕
Oh have you stayed a night on Balicasag at that resort?! That would be super cool to stay a night there!
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL Yes, I have with 3 of my bffs/ zumbamates. The OIC there is our zumbamate & our bff also. She treated us to an overnight stay/full accomodation with free food. Ayo-ayo, amping 💕
@@travelescapesOFFICIAL Jonathan, can you give me some info on how to stay overnight in that island 🏝️ or was there a video made that I missed?
it doesn't seem like there are many options for hotels or anything like that. I'm honestly not sure, but I was considering investigating it. There might be a couple options of places to stay there, but I'm not sure yet @@kikayme8134
Next time you get the coconut jelly that is a little hard try adding brown sugar to it very delicious
❤ nice weather cloudy and not windy 😍 good to travel...
Butong is when the coconut is still young (for eating-soft flesh) and Lubi is when the coconut 🥥 is hard or old enough...which is usually for cooking....
Engine is noisy because it’s not a regular outboard engine they use in the US. Small engine almost like a generator engine .
I like your impromptu adventure. Enjoy!
Did the same tour like 7 years ago. Price back then was 400 pesos.
Alona got too touristic imho. Have been back almost every year (except during the pandemic), but for me it was so much nicer before.
You're really great sir, I'm a fan.
Thank you for watching!!
Hi Jonathan blessings God bless you blessings.
Hi! Same to you and thank you for watching!
Now I’m impressed po Kuya
Great progress bisaya ❤🇵🇭
I live in Mindanao with my lovely Filipina. I wouldn't live anywhere else but the Philippines.

I was hoping you will show also about the town (school, tower, etc) but you stayed longer in one section.
If I had more time I would have explored more
Omg I miss Bohol! ❤❤
