- Опубликовано: 18 сен 2024
- The 2019 Acura RDX, 2019 Volvo XC60 and 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio are quite simply the best luxury crossovers on sale in America right now, but they appeal to slightly different CUV shoppers. To help us figure out which one is right for you I teamed up with Sofyan Bey from Redline Reviews, snagged the ultimate example of each contender and we shot our longest episode yet!

Thanks for the fun week in Northern Cali Alex! We had a blast shooting this video, can't wait for the next one! We'll have to figure out what to compare next! :D
Great review! You guys should do a comparison review together on the 2019 Altima, Accord, and Camry (when the Altima becomes available).
Redline Reviews Great Teamwork! 2 Great Minds together!
Cool collaboration.
would be nice to see best sellers of this class like glc, x3, q5 also new infiniti qx50
Seriously top notch! You two men work very well off each other! More please!
I love my 2019 RDX, and I understand performance, since I also own a 2016 Corvette Z51 with a 7 speed manual. I love driving the RDX in Sport+ mode. The steering, suspension and shift point changes are obvious. The car is eager to go and wants you to push it, and the torque vectoring with the SH-AWD is also obvious. Not as much fun as my Vette, but definitely a great driver’s car. And like the Vette, a real value compared to the competition. I drove a BMW X3 and a Mercedes Benz GLC and simply could not justify the extra money ($10,000 or more). They simply were not that much better. I highly recommend the. RDX.
Bob Nordlie Car & Driver didn't like the performance as much as you and their testing shows the 2019 RDX almost a half second slower than RDX V6. They did say it was a good value.
Norm T I owned a 2017 RDX. The difference in power was not significant to me. Yes, there is a tiny bit of turbo lag in the first second or two, but it’s quickly forgotten when the turbo kicks in. I don’t feel like I lost anything in going from the six to the turbo 4, plus the mileage is better with the four.
Bob Nordlie Thanks for sharing!
I love my rdx too
I’m looking at the RDX. Do you like the comfort?
Love this collaboration from my two favorite car channels! Please do more!
For my money 💰💴 it’s either the Acura or Volvo. I’ll go with Acura b/c of excellent reliability.
,.. and your dreams are filled with images of reliability? Each to their own.
Acura reliable died in the mid 2000s
I own the alpha Romeo Stelvio and the Gulia, love driving both of them and they are very quick. They are just fun to drive and never had any mechanical issues with either one. Bought both of them new in 2018, in volcano black and both are Ti Sport models , with painted calibers. I would definetely recommend.
The Rdx is overall a great car and much improved from the previous generation. It offers a good blend of sport and luxury which Is a win in my book. Really looking forward to see what Acura is cooking up with the type s variant of the Rdx.
Jordan Catcher There was almost $10,000 on the old version XC60. It would be the designer's choice.
Wow nice one acurra rdx . Rdx is the best one for me💪💪
Acura is the best buy due to its solid reliability and value.
I wish the RDX had better styling. That is the one thing that is stopping me from getting it.
zd trn Actually on true cost to buy and own the Buick Envision 2.0T with torque vectoring AWD for $35K has more features.
Acura reliability is horrible. Check the latest rankings; they're right down there with VW etc.
Mr24scott, All those rankings are paid off/extremely inaccurate, The Kia Niro, A small hybrid hatchback that JUST came out, brand new model is ranked #1 in reliability lol, I asked and no one can explain how if not a single one has even 20k miles lol, Audi is #4 and BMW #5, Doesn't take anymore than that lol.
JrVtec some of consumer reports is predicted reliability. But there is no denying that Acura is falling and is probably near the bottom.
For the price & features, it's a no-brainer for me...the RDX wins by a MILE!
Gregory C. Wright, Ed.D. Have you weighed the Envision 2.0T with torque vectoring AWD for $35K with even more features?
No, I haven't. I will have to check that out! Thanks.
@@normt5463 It's a Buick. Don't waste your time it's pure garbage
nuna yobiznass Newsflash: Buick topples Toyota in quality. Acura is no where to be found and has dropped quite a bit this decade.
Gregory C. Wright, Ed.D. I'd looked at a Buick Envisiion Premium 2.0T with torque vectoring AWD for low $30's as found on autotrader. It was is the rated compact for initial quality by J.D. Power. Buick has also toppled Toyota for the best quality of a mass produced brand.
My two favorite car journalist is the same review?!?! 😮🤗😮🤗😮🤗
Hhhhhhh
you mean in usa.
in uk its carwow
@@joanna6866 I meant MY favorite car journalist regardless of county of origin.
The Acura is best value, and probably the most reliable. It is my choice.
You guys are the two best reviewers on RUclips and seem to work really great together, each bringing something unique. You should team up and rule the Tubes. Just sayin. I've put 2500 miles on my Alfa Ti Sport and it's been fine, despite my driving it like a total lunatic. It's the best car no one has ever heard of.
15:12 Best part of the review, “buddy trunk comfort index.” Love you guys!!!
Acura RDX is the winner here. It has a great combination of sportiness, aggressive design, fuel-efficient engines, luxury, and value. Also, it's bigger than the Volvo XC60 (not XC90).
U guys should do more comparisons or reviews together!!
I disagree, their styles are too different. Its good so viewers of either can notice each other's channels, but Alex has a very specific formula to be very scientific and engineer like about his review process, whereas Soyfan just kinda yacks casually. BTW, why no refreshed Mercedes GLA 200 or GLA 45? Its marketed as a luxury crossover.
And it clearly frazzled Alex because he didn't even spell "following" right on his intro. ;)
DumbDuck44 well they can do that and comparisons and things!
. . . and better proofreading of the video titles and captions ;)
Literally my two favorite car reviewers in one video talking about the three exact cars I am debating about which one to buy. Awesome review guys!
2 best car reviewers on youtube. I like the exterior of the RDX, but I'm not a fan of SUV or crossover they cost so much.
Alex, i love your channel. Always honest reviews with a lot of details. Thank you.
We just bought a 2020 XC60 T5 Momentum for the wife a couple of days ago, and she loves it, and so do I. For those of you that are considering other makes besides Volvo, the wife's previous vehicle was Mercedes Benz (our third MB) and we shopped the Lexus NX, Acura RDX, Cadillac XT, the brand new Lincoln Corsair and Mercedes GLC. Volvo wasn't even on our radar when we were out shopping and we decided to stop at a Volvo dealer on our way to another brand. Needless to say, after test driving and closely examining the XC 60 both of us were sold. If you are like us that never considered Volvo before, do a yourself a big favor and check out what Volvo has to offer. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. And if matters, the current Volvo XC60 being sold in the U.S is made in Sweden, not China.
The Alfa is easily the oddball of the 3 and is a true enthusiasts car. Drove one about a month ago and man did I have a great time. The Rdx and xc60 are both great however they are just another SUV that screams "Blend in the crowd". I want something different so the Alfa would get my vote.
Jordan Catcher I just can’t get past the ugly grill.
Jordan Catcher Volvo inside and out, from every angle is a the stand out.
Talk is cheap. If you had to spend your own money I'd doubt you'd buy the alfa
Very accurate. I do think the GLC should be here rather than the RDX as the interior is not impressive. The Volvo belongs here because of the interior and the Alfa for the handling. Acura is the oddball
@@snazari1994 what makes you say that ?
Acura is great, but please, please, give us also RDX sport hybrid or R/S type with extra power, improved sport brakes, steering and extended wheel arches) that will be a bit like new NSX and will beat competitors)
Your multiple reviews of the 3rd generation RDX on your separate channels played a role on me purchasing a new RDX Advanced with SH-AWD last week. Given what I would have had to pay for a Volvo T-6 or a comparable vehicle, I also added Acura’s Glint Black Wheels which gives it a somewhat similar look to the A-Spec, but with all the goodies that the Advanced trim includes. Thanks, guys. Love your reviews and would like to see you team up some more in the future.
Bill Mattos How are you liking your new RDX so far?
How is it so far?
Eleanor Massaro The forums are reporting issues of harsh up shifting.
Tucker Oliver The forums are reporting issues of harsh up shifting.
How do I like the RDX? I literally could not be happier with it. The build quality is superb, the performance from the turbo four with its 280 foot pounds of torque combined with the 10-speed tranny and its low 1st and 2nd gears make it crazy fast when the light turns green (if you’re into that sort of thing), and the cool features that come with the Advanced trim such as the HUD, 16-way adjustable front seats, touchless rear lift gate and others make me feel like I’m driving a $75,000 machine. I was very picky about the exterior and interior colors and trim that I wanted and had to wait almost a month for the RDX to be built and delivered to my dealer in the Bay Area from Ohio, but it was well worth it.
You can always rely on acura giving you 70k+ luxury and performance for 40k.
The Volvo is very elegant in it's design. As a volvo owner myself I may be a bit biased but I find the interior of the Volvo far superior out of the three if your concerned about luxury (The only complaint I have is the infotainment. Volvo needs to work on the feedback. It's slow to respond and sometimes doesn't sense motion.)
Jordan Catcher Most would chose the Volvo in this segment when it comes to style, in and out.
Norm T obviously the sales would reflect that
Power of Pine Sol The Volvo is much more expensive with turbo and SC and even more with electric than Acura, failed to compete at Pikes Peak in the RDX.
It’s not bias, you’re right. The Volvo is a much better luxury crossover than the two. Basically if you want style and luxury get the Volvo. If you want sportiness, an edgier design, and tuns of standard features get the Acura. If you want less features, less space, and questionable reliability get the Stelvio.... lol
lol if you want sportiest car with best handling and driveability get Alfa, if you want sofa with wheels get Volvo, and not in any circumstances get Japan rust bucket
The most ambitious "crossover" since Avengers Infinity War
Nerd alert...lol.
Yay! My two favorite reviewers together! Two great minds, two different styles, and it works beautifully. More please!
The 2.0L turbo in the alfa would make 280hp, and it would be still sportier than the Volvo, since its lightness.. This is something to think about.
Wow, this is an amazing video. It is amazing how is has one person who is a total class act, smooth and just oozing with a great personality and the other is like a teenager that is rough around the edges and eager to take jabs. It was so much fun to watch. On the car side of the aisle, I would like to have seen a domestic in the mix considering the title of this movie :)
1. Pretentious and condescending is not classy.
2. California liberals hate America and prob hate everything made in America
3. Domestic cars are just awful and can't compare with their foreign counterparts
Thanks... Two of my favorite RUclips reviewers! Hope to see more.
I second that you guys should do more collabs....there is good chemistry and all of us love you two already!!
or do I smell.... mabye a grand tour/top gear type of show in the future ^_____^
Great crossover episode, would be great to see more of these in the future
In terms of value and practicality; RDX. In terms of performance and amazing driving experience; Stelvio. Notice I didn't mention anything about the Volvo.
Jia L. Volvo = luxury
Jia L. Acura does not discount much. But a discounted Buick Envision or Volvo XC60 is a stellar deal a d much more affordable than the Acura after all the disconts.
The seats are very comfortable on Volvo. This is a big issue for long distance travels.
Wait.... when will reviewers get the glass roof situation? Most continue to say there is less headroom. Not so. That maybe was the case when smaller sunroofs retracted internally within the headliner, however, today they all retract externally over the fixed rear panel. So without question, the head clearance goes all the way to the underside of the glass, which has to be more space than if an insulated fixed or moulded headliner was in place. While a roller inner shade will subtract some space, it is likely no more space than that taken by a fixed headliner.
eurouc Not so. Look at them in the back seat with Soy barely missing his hair to roof while Alex touches a d has to slouch in the RDX.
Great collab, you should do it more often.
David Salazar Soy is definitely pro Honda while Alex is not....as much.
Alfa Romeo with Ferrari DNA any day, everyday.
RDX is hands down the most complete and impressive.
not really
@@kristians2704 Yes, really
@@ThirdBrainLives how? it only comes with one engine option, the interior is pretty ugly, the tech is dated and there’s nothing special about it, it’s not bad, but def not as good as you said.
what a Review.....Right after watching the video. You guys forced me to spend $52000 to get an Acura RDX A Spec. I am picking up the Car Next week.......
Love that you guys teamed up. You are my favorite automotive review content creators on RUclips. I was so excited when I saw that you were working together at the start of this video :) Can't wait to see what you guys come up with next!
First of all, I like you two together. Throw in Tommy V from Driven reviews and I’d pay to watch you three.
Second of all, I think you guys hit it on the head. At $45,000 the RDX is a no-brainer. I looked at a few XC60’s when my wife and I were shopping for a car and at $45,000 they’re just a little basic. At $50,000 though they are much more appealing. Even more so at $60,000 and even more at $70,000. At $85,000 I’m still not buying then Stelvio.... that’s a really nice XC90 or next generation X5. I’m not a fan of the Stelvio because it mostly fails at being a utility vehicle, which is what I’d want first and foremost.
Cecil L The $43K Buick Envision 2.0T with torque vectoring AWD offers tri-zone climate control and reclining and sliding rear seat. Before discou ting this is close to RDX but with over $10,000 off MSRP and the best compact in initial quality in the segment and size the Envision is a better choice.
I can't believe those two spent all that time at each engine bay, but failed to mention the key differentiator between the vehicles - that the Alpha has a longitudinally mounted engine, and related drivetrain and dynamics.
Stelvio is in the league of x5m , cayenne turbo , range rover sport svr etc .
Reliability? Luggage space? It's like looking at a beautiful woman and wondering if she's punctual. "Reliability' guys. Get a life!
I have the 2019 ASpec with SH AWD and it has a full size spare under the rear of the vehicle. Maybe because it is a Canadian version? Love both of you as reviewers!
Best choice!
For Canadian version. Is there folding mirror ?
@@anthonylam493 Yes, auto folding mirrors on lock and unlocking doors.
Fred Schneider Thank you !!
Fred Schneider We often get features the Americans don't. Not sure why but Honda/Acura often does this.
The top two car journalists join. Really happy to see this happening. Please do more of this.
great to see 2 car review legends in same video
Yay Collabes with Alex on Autos!
Test drove all three - went with the Alfa. the Stelvio is just so more fun and exciting. I could not stand the Volvo and the Acura left me feeling mid-luxury.
Best collaboration ever! Both of my favorite shows together. It’s awesome 👏🏽 😎. I’m an Acura fan but I have to say that I’d love to test drive the Alfa Romeo.
I often watch both channels but I have to say that AA and Redline work great together. Informative and yet entertaining.
Congrats on the review you should consider joining forces.
Two automotive reviewer giants together. Nuff Respect gents!! Keep doing what you do!!!
Incredible to see these two men together! Super great review, do more of these! Thanks guys!
I used to like these new Alfas when they first came out. Then they started looking more and more like Infinities to me.
I hope it wouldn’t be too much to ask if you guy could do this for every segment lol. But honestly great job! There was good chemistry, great dialogue and you executed your own opinions in a natural way.
I agree Two of my favorite car journalists!!! Fun video to watch!! As always informative and helpful!!!!
I'd get the Volvo.
I have been waiting for you guys to team up!!
Great review from the two best in quality content on RUclips! When I the last time you've seen those cheap lugs nuts on that Alfa on anything with exposed lug nuts?!!
You both are great -- my two go to reviewers --- I spend way to much time watching both of these guys!
Yessss my 2 favorite reviewers
I loved this team up, guys. Please do more in the future, I watch both of you guys.
The two titan
I love their channel
love the tag teaming on the review! especially the cargo capacity comparisons :D
Great to see 2 of the best car reviewers collaborating, great review as always guys!!!
Outstanding job from both my favorite car/SUV reviewers!
This NEEDS to be a regular series!
I love the collabo!!!
Excellent unbiased review! Every point is spot on. Can't wait to see a comparison review of the F Pace SVR vs the Stelvio QV.
nice review i love to see both of you guys more often together. and you guys looks like father and son reviewing the car together.
In my opinion the best choice is the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, moreover with the latest updates it has become even more innovative and luxurious and then surely you have fun with it thanks to its 510. And then in my opinion it is the most sporty, elegant and fun.🔥👑🐍
It would be interesting to see the units sold for the vehicles you test. How many 2019 Alfa Romeo Stelvio that go sub 4 seconds do they sell?
Hey Alex, great comparison video! What is your opinion the R-Design trim in recent Volvo models? Are the sporty leather/nubuck seats, paddle shifters, and sportier suspension not worth giving up the more luxurious options in the Inscription trim, like the air suspension? And what about the Polestar tuning option? It would seem like a T6 R-Design XC60 with the Polestar tune could be an even better “sportier” middle ground between the luxury-oriented T6 and the Stelvio.
As an aside, I must say that the value proposition of modern Acuras is impressive!
Samcrac’s banana gazing crew checking in! 🍌
Really had a blast watching this review! I’m super excited about the new RDX coming out. I know they are a bit challenging to find but would be sweet to see you guys review the Porsche Macan and compare it w these sporty offerings :)
Loved the my two fav reviewer doing an excellent comparison. Please invite Roman (tfl cars ) to the party 🎉.
Thanks for your contribution to the auto world.
I like this format. Good exchange of information! GJ!
Good to see you guys collabing!!
My two favorite people in one video! Love this!
Definitely enjoy this collaborative review!
Loved this! More collabs please!
Great video guys, keep em coming!
Please do one for compact luxury sedans..!!
Great job guys really appreciate the perspectives you brought to this and it will help my buying decision
This is a huge win for Acura to be compared to these cars
Lots of fun to watch, guys. Please do reviews together more often. My choice would be the Volvo with the T6 power train rather than the T8.
Best massaging seats I've tried are on the LS500 I wish Lexus incorporates massaging seats on more vehicles
I don't know why, I really don't, BUT I have to give the video 50 bonus points for them sitting in the cargo area.
Thumbs up.
This was very enjoyable comparison videos!
Great shot of both of you in the back truck of the Acura. Haha
love to see both of your guys!
I wanted the Stelvio but I was unable to find a certified one, which raised my concern...or even any info on the maintenance cost.
RDX might be my first cross over.
Alfa Romeo Stelvio !!!!!!!!!
My most both favorite car reviewer.
Good on you guys!!
And that is what I do check both channels out mon wed frid --- great job guys.
You guys are awesome together. The Mercedes GLC should be there also.
My two favorite RUclips reviewers.
Nice . . . two of my favorite car guys together!
1) Lets be honest . . . neither the Volvo or the Stelvio (oh, I want one!) are in my price range . . . Can we do a 2021 update with the RDX, the Venza and the Lincoln Corsair?
2) The RDX is so solid across . . . but the trany and screen interfaces are hard for me to accept. Most say that they can be gotten used to . . . still . . .
3) The Volvo is just too . . . cushy. As Sofyan said, it's not playful!
4) I do love the Stelvio!!!
Please note that all 2019 RDX have a full size spare tire in Canada
Greatest crossover event in history
Great video I enjoy both of your channels. What about the X5 M?
Yo this is craZy! Both of my favorite car reviewer here!
Great job gentlemen, thanks.
