Great video. I think tooless is overused. Whichever you use, I just want it to be the best solution. In this case, the Allen wrench to adjust cutting angle seems like the better option.
Thanks for video, if you could only buy one, would you do the M 18 or the M2 for General purpose sometimes finish work mostly rough work I am getting ready to buy one of the two and was leaning towards M 18 for worry of lack of power on the M12 but the MA team does appear kind of bulky. I don’t have very large hands.
I just don’t understand the build design on the M18 barrel grip. It’s a great saw, just unwieldy. I don’t think you’ll have a significant power concern going down to the M12 barre grip, but I would say that the M18 D-handle jigsaw is the best all-purpose saw
@@SpottedTongueWoodworkingthanks for reply. I have a corded old Craftsman industrial. I follow Lewis carpentry’s page and he pointed out the beauty of a barrel handle for coping crown and I really like the fit of the M12 was only concerned with power and battery life but after yours and other videos I feel confident in it now for my needs. Also only M12 tool I own in pin nailer and heated hoodie and plenty of M18 batteries. But I feel confident now more battery investment is worth it. Thanks again.
Informative, I appreciate the comparison. I certainly would have been disappointed with the plane Jane M12 jigsaw. Cordless doesn't help much if your saw won't cut worth a lick.
D jigsaws are ok, I like my dewalt one. Ridgid had a tool called the jobmax that came with a jigsaw head. That's my absolute favorite. Just bought this m12 one last night. Came with a 4ah high output battery and the jigsaw for 150. U thought that was a good deal. I had to pick that up
The original jigsaw is an embarrassment from Milwaukee mine wiggles loose 9 times out of 10 its almost been thrown at the wall many time, glad to see the fuel im excited to pick one up
Right? I can’t believe they’ve kept it in the lineup all these years. The new fuel version is incredible. Probably my favorite jigsaw across both the m12 and m18 lineups
It’s definitely getting old, especially compared to the drills and impacts that keen getting updated, but it is still a fantastic tool in its own right
"It doesn't matter the blade." Yes, it matters. You need to use the correct blade for the material you are cutting. I have the original M12 jig saw. I got a variety pack of Diablo blades with different blades meant for different material. Using the general purpose blade, my original M12 jig saw made short work of cutting though treated 2x4s. What blade were you using?
“It doesn’t matter the blade” because I was using the same blade in both saws to highlight the differences between the two saws on an equal playing field- same blade, same battery, same wood. I get what you’re saying, but I don’t think that’s the point.
This is why you don't get people on ur site. Talking negative of these great tools. These are not something for the construction guy these are for the diyer and nothing more. Course when you pay thousands for high end tool then these are useless to you..
Thanks for the feedback. Just to be clear- there’s a REALLY REALLY good M12 jigsaw. There is also a REALLY REALLY bad M12 jigsaw. You are more than welcome to waste your money on a REALLY bad tool because “DIY”. However, the M12 lineup is very specifically aimed at the trades, especially trim carpentry and cabinetry

there’s an allen key under the storage, take it out then look by the vacuum attachment you’ll see the allen wrench in the saw 👍🏼
Funny story- I was just using it yesterday and the Allen key fell out. Definitely feel like a fool for that one 🤦♂️
Thanks for the vid. What an absolutely WILD difference between those two units!
I like to think that Milwaukee learned some extremely valuable lessons from that 1st gen jigsaw.
Have you seen the m18 barrel grip jigsaw? It's like a 55 gallon drum handle. It's fkin enormous lol!
Right? That’s why I keep talking about my small hands- definitely not big enough for that monstrosity 😂 I prefer normal sized tools
Informative, I appreciate the comparison. I certainly would have been disappointed with the plane Jane M12 jigsaw. Cordless doesn't help much if your saw won't cut worth a lick.
What's the battary life with the battary in the video ???
It was either a 1.5 or 2.0 battery, I don’t remember, so not too long. The new 2.5 battery has the same size but significantly longer life.
Which model numbers are they?
Can’t recall model numbers off the top of my head, but there are only 2 M12 jigsaw models- Fuel and nonFuel

That’s a pretty good deal for that. Definitely going to see more of those sweet deals coming up!

I've had the brushed m12 jigsaw for a week and I hate it. It wiggles loose so often for me too
Mine immediately wiggles loose 10/10
@@squirreltastic-k5vI ended up gluing it shut at a 90° I was so over it
@@CodyLeon I'm going to do that. The only use I have for it is cutting cabinets for wall oven opening
Thanks for helping me not to go for that cheaper one. Will buy the perfect one now
You’re welcome- good luck!
m12 installation driver needs an update.
It’s definitely getting old, especially compared to the drills and impacts that keen getting updated, but it is still a fantastic tool in its own right
Damn thanks, ordering the fuel one !
Definitely the fuel one over the brushed one, no question
Will be the Perfect Jigsaw for me ! Awesome
It’s a good one!
I agree, I have that early version and it is unuseable. It is a piece of trash. I'm glad the new version is improved.
I honestly can’t believe the difference between the two
