For a least 20 years I had the Bosch jigsaw, 3 years ago I purchased a mafell, what I like, 1,the unique blade clamping system, no roller blade guide so little friction so very little heat and the blades last much longer, 2, the base slides back providing an amazing line of sight and you can almost cut up to a wall /backsplash, 3, you can put the blade in backwards which allows you to cut from underneath...great for scribing what I don't like the price and the special non deflection blades are only available through mafell . Ofcourse the blade itself is a big factor also. Dunno if new ones arent that good or blade roller wasnt adjusted correctly in this test?
First off, thanks for the thorough and informative video. You always do a great job. Second, although the specs, data, and comparisons are enjoyable (because I'm a fanatic) I seem to keep falling back to familiarity and enjoyment of use as qualifications for my tool purchases. Visual appearance is in play as well. I'm quite loyal to Makita and have only been let down once I think. Unless they just completely flop on a specific tool, I'm pretty much happy with my purchases. Love all the head to head videos Rob. Keep them coming. I just have one little thought and it may very well be solely my opinion but I wanted to share. I don’t think breaking the power / performance category down into watt hours is 100% fair. The Milwaukee would perform the same whether it has a 3.0 HO battery on it as if it were to have their 12.0 HO battery on it. I know the Milwaukee won this performance category but did not in your D handle head to head due to higher watt hours. If you would have had a 3.0 HO battery on the M18 D handle it would have won the performance category and then won overall I believe. Get what I’m saying? Just wanted to comment on that, love the videos.

Good jigsaw review, 15:38 Makita is not the only one with a stored Allen wrench. Milwaukee's is in the back bottom side of the shoe. it is a bit hard to see.
I have a old Ryobi brushed D handle jig saw. One day I was making circular cuts on a two by four and when I looked the cut wasn't square it was like a bevel while the saw was at 90 degrees. Does this mean it's not meant to cut a two by four or I need a new jig saw. Im sure it was the blade bending as I was twisting the saw to cut
my only critique is the watt hour standardization... that doesnt actually work because the same saw will run a LOT better with a 5 or 6 Ah battery thaan say a 2 or 3 Ah battery... especially saws and stuff that uses a lot of power... you gotta use the same size battery in each saw... even if that means getting adapters and using the same battery in every saw (recharged and let cool down between runs) to make any sort of even comparison of actual power and run time comparisons... other than that your reviews and tests are awesome, keep up the great work! thank you

Hello! I would like to get a jigsaw for my 7 year old daughter to use (with very close supervision, of course!). Is there a model that you would recommend for smaller hands or safety overall? i wish you would add in DBsound rating but love these vids the wirk that must go ib=n thanks guys
We usually do on longer use tools but with a jigsaw it’s such an under used in auxiliary tool we didn’t think it was a big metric
Again!??? No way!! Makita wins! It’s $100 less and performs as well.
Thank you. A lot of good info.
Probably the blade you were using
my only critique is the watt hour standardization... that doesnt actually work because the same saw will run a LOT better with a 5 or 6 Ah battery thaan say a 2 or 3 Ah battery... especially saws and stuff that uses a lot of power... you gotta use the same size battery in each saw... even if that means getting adapters and using the same battery in every saw (recharged and let cool down between runs) to make any sort of even comparison of actual power and run time comparisons...
other than that your reviews and tests are awesome, keep up the great work! thank you
Is there a reason why Bosch’s GST18V-47 was not in the test ?
Yes - out of stock. Bosch could not get us one. COVID supply issues
Looks like I won't go wrong with the dewalt already being invested in the platform. My hitachi corded is due for a replacement. Happy Father's day to me.
Is there no Bosch cordless jigsaw?
yes a D handle
How does the Flex 24V compare?
decent
What are the comparative benefits and downsides to the barrel vs D-handle jigsaws?
Preference
Great video thanks very helpful, saved me a few quid
Hello! I would like to get a jigsaw for my 7 year old daughter to use (with very close supervision, of course!). Is there a model that you would recommend for smaller hands or safety overall? Would a barrel-handle jigsaw be safer or easier to control for smaller hands? I have Makita and Dewalt platforms already if that matters. Thank you to anyone that can help!
Thank you for your videos
what about a camera near the blade with a 2" screen on top!
Mount a wireless boroscope/endoscope on the tool and connect it to a VR headset or your phone.
