Our team has put some serious time and effort into this evaluation to bring you the most comprehensive information available. For this Head to Head, we broke things into several categories including Precision & Accuracy, Performance (speed/power), Features, Ergonomics, Dust Collection, Decibels, and Price. For each of these categories, we’ll rank the saws and in the end, we’ll name the Best 12" Cordless Miter Saw based on all the results combined.
Article Link: www.toolboxbuzz.com/cordless-...
Precision, and Accuracy - In this category, we evaluated the accuracy of the miter saws, out of the box, and how easy it is to make adjustments.
Performance [Power / Speed Test] -We looked at cutting speed as an indicator of saw motor performance.
Run-time - Lots of pros think run-time is important. The performance evaluation took a very deep dive into the power of the saw motors and how well the saws managed repetitive cutting of framing lumber.
Features - An overall comparison of features and specifications.
Ergonomics - Ergonomics are really important to users and an important category to consider when purchasing any power tool. In addition to traditional ergonomics, we also included functionality in this category.
Dust Collection - Construction is a messy business and dust is one of the biggest evils in our industry.
Decibels - We evaluated the sound level in decibels
Price - Price is always an important factor in determining which saw is best for a user. We’ve included the current pricing found online for each of the saws “as-tested,” at the time of publication.

Another great video Rob. Keep up the great work
Once again great video, thanks
Great comprehensive video. Keep them up.
Nice video thanks for the review
I have the Makita saw. love it. One thing that i love about it is that it goes to 60 degrees in both directions.
Thanks best video I have seen! Keep it up!
Glad you liked it!
Well done by all. I walk away more knowledgeable. Excellent work!
This channel has the most thorough and trustworthy reviews out there. Excellent job on this one!
well, there are other comparings between the Bosch and Milwaukee both on 12Ah and the Bosch outperformed the Milwaukee on speed and endurance.
The table is more adjustable. The only point the Milwaukee is clearly better is dust collection...
Amazing! Neat axle glide, that’s a game changer for small workshops. Thanks Rob and team!
Agree, I love the Makita also but Bosch hasn’t ever failed me so for me it be Bosch first Makita second. I’m biased sorry. Lol
Thank you for this one👍👍👍
Another great review. Thank you for doing all these. This is the best channel for comparing tools. So important that you show all the results letting buyers rank what they prefer based on their needs.
We think that's important - not all of us care about dust collection or decibels... some don't care about price, etc
As Always Great Head to Head Test! So much solid data to chew on here!
Thanks again!
I just started the video and can't wait to see the results. I have the Milwaukee and have zero complaints. Just wish Milwaukee made a nice portable stand.
Agree! The stand sucks. I must say that being 20-25% lighter makes a huge difference to me. You would think this would be a huge deciding factor. Who would even want a cordless shop saw? Portability, accuracy and dust collection are important factors for a job site miter saw. I have the 12”, 10” and 2 - 7 1/4” Milwaukee cordless saws on the jobs every day. The 10” just plain sucks! It never touches crown.
As far as ac/dc goes, it never is a concern because I have 5 - 12AH batteries for the 12” and at least 2 - 8AH batteries for each of the other saws. I don’t use cords on the job at all. Also have 2 Milwaukee table saws on Dewalt stands, lol.
Kinda surprised they didn’t even mention the one key? It’s nice knowing I can lock down the saw when we go to lunch and also track the 12” and table saws. I run $100+ blades on the 12” and don’t need some concrete guy throwing a nail infested, covered in concrete board on my saw while we are out to lunch. I also think most people know better than to steal a One-Key tool. I only leave the One-Key tools on the job if not in a gang box and have yet to have one stolen. I lock them and grab the battery. I figured this was something worthy of at least mentioning. I believe it’s more protective than a chain by far. If locked, it’s useless if stolen and they can be tracked! Most know that and I make a point of explaining it to anyone that asks on the job.
Shopping today, great review!
Rock on!
This is gonna be a good one!
You guys do such thorough reviews. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Super review i like a lot
Impressive, that was a lot of work.
Awesome video, love all your videos. I found it interesting that your take on the Bosch as I chose the corded version for my shop for all the reasons you stated.
Same, wouldn't trade it for any of the other saws, and most of my tools are yellow😅
Thank you
Very helpful thanks
Solid Job 👌
Can't wait for the BOSCH to be available in the states!!!
Great review 👍
Wau, thank you Very much.
I'm so glade makita won this event. Im invited in makita tool. Glade see they make some best tools.
Great video
I love my Dewalt Flexvolt saw, it's been a solid performer.
Thank you ❤️
Years ago if you said to me there will be reviews of cordless 12” mitre saws coming out I’d of laughed at you, how cordless technology has come along in the last 10 years is amazing.
Agreed
You guys are so awesome
content this good usually goes behind a paywall on patreon.
love that it's free.. I don't count on it always being free.
I was thinking about getting a Makita 12” miter saw, but after watching this, I’m definitely going to get the Makita today.
Wow great review mate
Glad you liked it!
great video
Awesome job !
Thank you! Cheers!

I love my 12in flexvolt miter saw. At first I bought the Milwaukee bc I’m invested in their platform. But once I realized you can run the Dewalt on battery or ac. I had to have that. Plus I’ve been looking at a couple other Dewalt tools so getting their miter saw opened up that platform for me. Great review!!
You must be sad you didn't get the Makita 😥😥
@@jeffb321 I actually owned the 10in cordless makita but it was just so heavy and like moving a slab of concrete around. But I did like the rail system on it. That a nice feature
I have the Dewalt too. The ability to be able run it on AC or battery was a must-have for me. I wish their FlexVolt Table Saw had AC power as an option too.
I haven't been able to find one, sux. I bought the Milwaukee, what a pos.
hi Rob,Thanks for your review. I have the makita 10 inch and would by the 12 inch makita for stationary/shop saw!
Thank you !
Welcome!
I know you say that you're not a professional testing company. But I think you are. You give very good and Fair testing your results definitely show who's the best product. I Think you should give company award for best overall. At end of year total up scores see want best brand of tool for the year. That would be cool. Thanks all your hard work.
Great review. I agree with Milwaukee on real world use and would have ranked it first in run time/cuts, moving it up behind the Makita into second place. That Makita is a very nice saw but I've bought into the Milwaukee platform. For many of us, we'll end up with the tool the corresponds to the battery platform we've selected. I just picked up the 7 1/4 Milwaukee miter saw and love it.
I agree, skewing the run time data for the Milwaukee in the way that they did doesn't make sense to me, the saw made the number of cuts that it made, so what if they weren't in rapid fire succession. I think it would've been more accurate to credit it for the actual number of cuts and perhaps include an asterisk explaining the thermal protection issue resulting from unrealistic usage in the testing procedure.
Correcting that one score puts it in close second behind the Makita (which looks like very nice saw). With excellent scores in dust collection, features, and ergonomics, if you factor in the lower price, the Milwaukee becomes the logical choice for anyone not already invested in a particular battery platform, but not willing to shell out the higher price of the Makita.
I would also tend to agree though that while it is nice to see how these saws stack up against each other, most of us who are deeply invested in a particular battery platform will just end up buying the one that works with our existing batteries.
Excellent review overall, thanks guys!
@@n.c.1838 correcting that one score would cause the Makita to drop a point which in turn would give Milwaukee and Makita an overall tie. I think they realized what they did but then decided they didn't want to give the least accurate saw (milwaukee) the overall win.
Great video dewalt agree
The amount of effort you put into this review is certainly commendable
Love your reviews. Though your neighbors must hate all that noise on test day.
Awesome review! Would it be possible to show how you calibrate a miter saw? Thanks again
Great Great reveiw! Dewalt for me. Flexvolt batteries are great and can use them on my other Dewalt tools
I like my DeWalt DWS780 with shadow line corded saw. It was reasonably priced and was accurate out of the box.
very nicely done. My findings were about the same. I was torn between the Dewalt and Makita, I have the corded Bosch and like it, but the mitre cut height at the back was not tall enough to do over 4.5" material with out hitting the product. Went Dewalt because of price. Thanks for the video.
I've used Makita Bosch and DeWalt. For fine woodwork I like the bosch, smooth and just a great tool. The Makita is super reliable and had it for 25 years and the Dewalt is a good all arounder.
Rob, I really appreciate your head-to-head test videos. They provide impressions for the "fresh out of the box" experience. Does your gang of testers have any long-term results regarding how well the tools hold up under use at the jobsite?
Hi Kam, I just put up a post mentioning the issues I’ve had with my Milwaukee. It may give you insight on that particular tool in my experience.
Thank you for all your hard work and time spent to bring this review, but at the end of the day guys will buy the brand of cordless tool in the platform they're vested in.
Great testing. Only suggestion is each category has a wider range than 1,2,3,&4. If the difference between 1st and 2nd is greater than between 2nd and 3rd, category points should reflect that. This can be accomplished with a 1-10 scale, with best and worst getting 1 point and 10, and the other two on the scale relative to the best and worst. An example how this might work is say one got 400 cuts, and the others got 200, 210, and 220. Points would be awarded at 1, 8, 9, 10 ( or inverse points if you'd like). This way, a tool that dominates in one category is rewarded overall, rather than equal weighting based only in rank.
God bless you...
I'm a fan of milwaukee, but I gotta say. Bosch did surprise me
Being a Milwaukee man, the 3 top dogs are awesome saws, its all about personal preference, awesome review.
True Dat
Interesting to see how many people love the makita. We had makita saws in my high school shop class and they just felt cheap. Years later I was working for a fine furniture maker and his saw was a makita which he only really used for rough cutting but I hated the feel of that saw too. Admittedly I haven’t used their newest model but I really love my dewalt more than any other saw I’ve used, and I’m a Milwaukee guy for the record
because despite the 'cheapness' they are built like tanks. Think of it as Ak47 vs M16...AK47 just always works even if it feels loose compared to an AR style weapon.
Makita evoluated a lot they way more smooth now You cannot compare from your past experience those new models
This is incredible content. Clear, concise & informative. Thanks so much for doing these side-by-sides, you guys are the gold standard.
Just bought a makita 7 1/4 18v saw for black Friday deal at home depot. I may just hop on the miter saw as well.
I have the Makita for 2 years now and it is still in great shape, accuracy and performance is amazing specially dust collection ,the battery lasts all day either cutting lumber framing or trim moldings .
Does the makita have a battery to 120 volt option
@@lxxs3v3nxxl it comes with 2 5h batteries but you can purchase separate the120 volt detachable option or just a get the corded version .
HOLY SHITBALLS BATMAN!!!
When you guys review something, you REALLY review something!!!
This is an incredible video!!!
Great review guys!👍 Any thoughts on the Rigid R4222 12" saw for the budget people? Thanks!
Hi Rob I'm from the UK
