As much as I enjoy project farm and what he does, your head to head shootouts are much more realistic to what a tradesmen like myself sees out in the real world.
I like project farm better because the tests are explained better and you can see more of the tests. And he sometimes test durability like when a tool is dropped. He also factors in the coat Project farm would have identified Festool as a good tool but a 350 dollar jog saw that you need to buy the additional accessory pack and a 350 dollar tool that didn’t nail down 1st in some important categories. He also over stresses some tools too

You and Project Farm are all i use now for choosing tools to buy. I know they are your competition but you guys are both great.
I think having BOTH your channels putting expensive tools through the ringer is a good thing, it keeps these companies in check. Just got a free Ryobi D-Handle jigsaw with my Ryobi HP Brad nailer purchase and Project Farm did NOT have a Jigsaw review so gj! keep it up!

Got the Milwaukee jigsaw as a freebie on a holiday sale with my Drill/Impact M18 Fuel kit. I'm loving it so far. Comfortable to use and very smooth operating.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I am a scientist and a physician, this is the best work I have seen when comparing tools. Like the fact of creating jigs to minimize human factors and allowing the tool to perform without any interference, making the data collection more accurate. Excellent job and believe this should be the standard to be emulated by others. Agree with those expressing that price is essential to be included as it is an important factor in the mind of many when buying any power tool. Maybe consider collecting data on tool's durability, more common damage incurred from its long use combined with the price as it may show that higher price tools may not be equal to durability or vice versa; as it may help buyers to see durability, as more important than price in the long run. We used this approach when buying, for example, cars or power washers, as in the latter, Honda motors equipped power washers are considered very durable/reliable. Great job!
been in the market recently for a table saw, benchtop planer and jigsaw and the reviews here have all been excellent. You also quite honestly mention in each video that you are not "professional testers" but I think pro testers could take a leaf out of your book as you do a really comprehensive job and also allow potential buyers to make their own minds up based on user case and whats important for them. Thanks for all the effort, it's really appreciated 🙏👊👍
This was the best video on reviews for jig saws. It lacked bullet points while he mentioned the top runners but you can write your notes down from the very well written article. Thank you for all the great insight! Looks like I’ll be shopping for a Ridgid since the Festool is pricey.

I just finished watching your barrel handle jigsaw review and heard you say the same thing "we're not a professional tool testing company." Your reviews are definitely that good and your real-world everyday hands-on experience gives you more credibility than professional testing companies.
A question, why would you use a barrel jigsaw vs a standard handle jigsaw?

I’m a huge makita guy but recently got into kobalt namely for the 7 1/4 miter saw which is amazing. So I bought the kobalt jig because it was so much cheaper then the makita and I absolutely love it. Hard to beat kobalt especially for the prices.

Just a general comment about jig saws:
A jigsaw was one of my first power tools. This was partly because you can find some really affordable ones; I think I paid $20 back then.
I didn’t use it very often - or not nearly as often as I liked. The deficiencies of the tool left me discouraged: wandering cuts, bending blades on big curved cuts, fussy blade changes.
I then got an early Makita stick- battery model. Not much better, very short run time, and required different blades. I did notice how excellent the Makita blade was.
Years later I got a corded “pro” model. This $$$ Makita worked like a dream. What a difference! Tool-less blade change (which I first saw on a DeWalt) was heavenly.
In my use, blade change is a big factor. Lighting the cut line is huge. Having the saw blow sawdust out off the cut line is critical.
Less important is how close I can get the saw to cut to the front edge of the tool. When cutting a curve, I need the blade to remain vertical.

I own and use several of these saws. Chief among them are my Festool Carvex (PSB420C) with the barrel handle and the Dewalt Cordless. I typically use my Dewalt during rough framing but use the Carvex for cabinetry installations, thicker stock, countertops, and when the cut truly matters.
I prefer the Festool for the accessories available, extended capabilities, battery life, and dust collection. While expensive, for my use, it's definitely worth the money.
As a Ryobi Tool Owner(because the Ryobi tool package that I bought that day was on sale for almost half of what DeWalt tool package I first went to get.) Only a couple of times have I had to stop working with Ryobi tool for something more powerful/capable. I've found Ryobi battery powered tools like to have a larger battery. I haven't tried anything bigger than the 6ah that's recently been released, but with the 6ah's, these tools have a whole new personality. Since I already have a couple Ryobi chargers, it made sense to invest in 6ah's, a huge step up from the 3ah's I picked up a year and a half ago. The change from the 1.5ah oe batteries that my kit came with, did well when new, the 3ah's gave them nearly twice the tool they each were, the 6ah's more so, and they last longer than I do at this point. I'm an amateur at this point, should ever go pro, I depend very much on channels like yours to test all these different tool brands to give us the low down on who's best bang for the buck. You guys are the best.!😎

It is Tempting to add the ridgid to the kit, but an el'cheapo is good enough for my needs. Although if i can find a some brands that share the same battery (with little mod) that may be the go. 😁

@@ericmann1781 Same. Even if not the best, top 3 usually. Frequent sales make it pretty inexpensive to add tools to the arsenal too.
1:40 aren't Festool jigsaw blades thicker than Diablo? Honestly, I think the Carvex would perform better if the blade were retained properly. Also, with prolonged use, the smaller blade might deform the rectangular shape of the blade holder.
I got milwaukee m18 fuel its great just the size of box and jigsaw its little bit bigger
@@grassrunner7983 diablo jigsaw blades, circ blades are very thin. The circ and recip blades are some of the best. Not sure about the jigsaw blades. I have a pack but have not tested them jet. Waiting to pick up a jigsaw

I heard festool is making a recipricating saw that only pushes the saw forward. You have to buy an add-on to get it to move back. Otherwise, it's silky smooth.

Thanks Rob for another great review. One feature not discussed but the reason that I have a lot of Ridgid power tools; warranty. Ridgid has a lifetime warranty, and they have fixed or replaced tools for me over the years.
Nice to know that over the years you won’t have to pay to replace a tool.

Really great comparison! After 20yrs of using my 110v Bosch 1587vsk, I am very happy with my Makita 18v LXT for about 200 street price its not super cheap but its a beast and works very well.
To help select a tool I trust the testing.
One set of testing needs to be conducted portable tool storage from pro line of tools,
I have the milwaukee packout, like to see how it compares to ...
Dewalt
Bosch
Makita
Festool
Rigid
And whatever other brand(s) for testing.
The real world testing allows the viewer to decide, then make their selection.

I’ll still go with the DeWalt since all my other cordless tools are 20v DeWalt platform and already have the batteries and 3 chargers. Good video!
Try Mafell is on another level, I have them both Festool and Mafell and I’m telling you I love using the Carvex thanks to being cordless but every time I’m using the Mafell I’m wondering myself why do I use something else.

Interesting ranking system, owning 3 different Bosch saws (1 corded/2 cordless) never found them to be lacking. Do like some of the newer features available, though mine suit me fine. Before this video I did recommend a friend buy the Milwaukee for a project, and I’m happy to see Ridgid hold it’s own.

I have an M18 fuel barrel grip. It’s very solid and it has a soft start feature. There are hobbyists that swear by the Festool Carvex when it comes to jigsaws but, due to my satisfaction with the Milwaukee Fuel, I cannot justify the extra cost of a festool carvex. However what makes you happy makes you happy.
As always I appreciate your thorough reviews. I just got the corded Carvex and I think it’s worth it for the accuracy as a woodworker. For rough carpentry I would get whatever battery platform you’re on

I'm pretty much too far down the road of Makita cordless to change now...so was happy to see the Makita do so well. It took me forever to get one because the price was so dang prohibitive, made me hang onto my corded saw for a lot longer than I should have and almost got me to consider a second battery line if there were other tools I wanted for low use and wouldn't mind a different brand.

Looks like my Kobalt was always middle of the pack. It has all the features and for a good chunk of the year it's $99. I never thought i would see jig saws this in-depth.
