Toolsday Compact Router Review. They go by multiple names, trim router, compact router, laminate router, and today we put some of the most popular brands head to head to see which ones are worthy of purchase. I used and abused these routers and did a complete overview of some of the most important factors that should affect your buying decision. We spent a ton of time with each router and the results definitely surprised me. I make my high level recommendation at the end. As always, I have never and will never take money for paid reviews. These are tools I have purchased and tested extensively. Let me know what you’d like to see next. Thanks for watching! Please like, comment and subscribe. Cheers!

Great Video. One thing you mentioned was that the Bosch LED would shine in your eyes when changing bits. Good point but one thing to note is that when changing bits the tool should always be unplugged to prevent accidental start up when your hands are near the bit so the LED being on all the time wouldn't matter in that regard. Safety First.

The comment i was originally replying to seems to have disappeared. Deleted? Blocked? I don't know. First time viewer here. I don't know this guy from Adam. I have no knowledge of his stance on safety, only the flippant replies to suggestions that a router should be unplugged. And because of it, I don't care to watch his channel ever again. It's ridiculously cocky for no good reason. You're an online educator. Be the example.

  • @johnmutton799

When changing a bit power should be off, so lights would not be on. So pointless complaint!

  • @pneumatica3

Unplug it when you change the bit and the light won’t shine in your eyes. Just sayin’…

  • @traceoeight7549

Light in your eyes while changing the bit?!? It's a safety feature letting you know that power is applied, but if you want to change your bits that way It's just a finger or two...

You shouldn't get blinded by the Bosch when changing a bit as it should be uplugged when doing so. Changing a bit with any router, let alone a top switched palm router, is just mental.

That Milwaukee is awesome! It is the best of those. You went from it not being tight enough to over tightening it, no need to crank it down so hard, When you use the micro adjustment you don't do that with it locked down, you open the lock, adjust it then lock it down. It has zero play to it. Awesome router.

If you change bits, shouldn't the router be unplugged for safety? Therefore the 'blinding lights' will be off.

Bruh, I have the Ryobi router and it doesn't drop the bit at all, haven't needed to take off the base yet, was it really tight or one turn past hand tight on the nut? Weird

Much respect to a man who can admit they are a fanboy then admit that their tool of choice is not the best in the category and give a fair assessment of the tools tested. Thank you.

Jonathan, if you un-plug the router, like you should when changing bits, the lights wont be in your eyes, I have the colt, and your right, its great.

  • @leepennington4649

The Milwaukee has an adjustment screw on the latch. If you tighten it, it will have 0 play. It’s actually in the instructions. Give it another shot. Likely the best one on the table.

Thanks Jonathan! Great timing on this one. I need a trim router for some inlay and sign-making, and it has to accept bushings. Thank you so much for doing this style of tool comparison. I really appreciate your content.
