    I really like your explanation and build of cabinets in general. Definitely going to incorporate the techniques in my next build.😊

    Josh, thank you for all the information and insight on the way you manufacture and assemble your cabinets while you're building them. I appreciate the honesty as well. Spot on to the way I make cabinets. It's just nice to know how a professional cabinet maker does it. Keep the good educational information coming!!

    Also maybe one day you can give us a run down on your blades? What you use , who sharpens them , ect.,.

    Every system has its advantages, and disadvantages too.
    I've done minimal ladder frames.
    Have learned if you set a single ladder in an out of square corner for an oven stack....then the wall twists and toekick is not parallel the stack.
    This where I like your system being a hybrid .
    Really really like your upper ledger/cleat system shimming lower back 1/2 away from wall.
    Often there are drywall bulges down low and thus 1/2 really gives forgiveness.
    My area is old school and typically main floor is on slab construction.
    1/2 raw plywood, ff glued and nailed with integrated toekick.
    Entire inside and exterior gets painted or stained.
    Huge labor,tons of sanding and finish needed.
    Integrated toekick means entire cabinet is either scribed, or quarter-round used to hide shims.
    Moving a 10ft ovenstack into space to mark,remove and scribe...then finally install it the 2nd time.
    I really enjoy learning new systems!
    I hink everyone uses a hybrid that fits for them and their region.

    Great build and insight. I might have missed it, but you might want to replace the upper shelf with upper cabinets. The diagonal bracing seems like wasted wall space ... or additional storage opportunity.

    Yep I learned the same build way for cabinets along long time ago and also prefinished plywood is worth the cost because once the cabinet is built its built and you don't need to spray the inside finish which is alot harder in a tight space. Spot on

    • @NE_woodworks
      @NE_woodworks  2 месяца назад

      Yeah you’re right. Pre finished is the way to go

    Your box method makes so much more sense. How would you secure the ladder style toe kick to an island?

    • @NE_woodworks
      @NE_woodworks  Месяц назад +1

      I level the ladder toe kick and screw it to the floor. Then I will set the cabinets on it and screw them to the ladder.

    I like seeing how other guys do it. I do ladders instead of feet, this way I can prescribe and install my toe kick skin first and then put the boxes on, since the floors are wonky sometimes.

    interesting way that you build and install, I do separate kicks I have found that shooting them with the laser and getting a platform is the fastest way, your way works too, there is no wrong way, whatever works best for us.

    I am now using a Festool Kapex the reason being say your installing and just R running on a clock set for “get it dun yesterday “ ! Having an accurate miter saw is important or trimming a 4’, 5 or 6’ end piece miter for me anyway is not possible you probably have the room?
    I hv different needs obviously than you but I bet in the future a super accurate miter saw would serve any cabinet maker well? By the way super nice shop set up which not only is key to your work ! But also your mental health!

    Have you tried the axilo cabinet feet mate? I've been using them for a few years now, and with the adjustment tool I think they're great, makes levelling so much quicker just spinning them up or down with your drill.

      @@NE_woodworks they're a way more sturdy than the usual cheap plastic feet too, and have a wider foot. I'm not sure how Hafele works over there, but if you've got a rep they often do a deal on the tool of you buy X amount of feet off them.

    Thanks for sharing your process and ideas. I saw your video on your plywood storage and had a question: do you not worry about the plywood developing a bow being stored on end? Flat storage is best but that's a huge footprint.

    • @NE_woodworks
      @NE_woodworks  2 месяца назад

      Thanks. I’m not worried about it bowing. I have had vertical plywood storage in an old shop and it wasn’t an issue. Storing flat is best though. I would agree. Just takes up a lot of space.

    I feel like I am over commenting here ? However I have always built my boxes that way? My Dad who was a contractor ( GC home builder ) taught me that way? I believe your seeing all that dado stuff is because the carcass’ are 1/2” and the back’s 1/4” ? Just flimsy junk in my book?
    Cabinets are 3/4” and 1/2” construction! Spend your time on doors and drawers !
