    Visit www.horizonhob... for more information on the UMX P-51D Mustang.
    The P-51D Mustang is world-renowned as quite possibly the most iconic fighter aircraft of all time! Its unique design resulted in it delivering some of the best performance among all fighter aircraft flown in WWII. “Detroit Miss” is a history-making P-51D Mustang that was flown by Urban “Ben” Drew, and in 1944 he became the first USAAF pilot to shoot down two jet-powered Messerschmitt Me 262 fighter aircraft with it. The E-flite UMX P-51D Mustang is an ultra-micro sized model of the famous aircraft that’s a warbird version of the popular UMX P-51D Voodoo racer. It’s equipped with expertly-tuned AS3X and optional-use SAFE Select technologies, is 2S and 3S battery compatible, and provides real-time battery voltage telemetry to compatible transmitters. Because of its ultra-micro size, the UMX P-51 can be flown in more places and smaller spaces including many yards, parks, and sports fields! The fixed landing gear with a steerable tailwheel makes it easy to taxi, takeoff from, and land on smooth surfaces, or you can leave the landing gear off for more speed and vertical performance with easy hand launches over and landings on grass. It’s the most affordable, convenient, and easiest-to-fly replica of a P-51D Mustang yet!

    These umx planes are just getting better! But, a big pet peeve is the foam you use. No matter how well you take care of it, it dents scratches and eventually warps.. especially the planes without wheels like the grass-landed umx conscendo, radian, etc.

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  7 месяцев назад +2

      EPS foam is lighter and stiffer than EPO and EPP, plus it allows us to mold in more surface details like panel lines, rivets, etc. which is why we use it for most of our scale, sport, and high performance UMX/ultra-micro class models. We do use EPO/EPP foam for UMX/ultra-micro models when durability is more important than scale details and/or lower weight (e.g. the E-flite UMX Ultrix is EPP and the HobbyZone Apprentice STOL S 700mm is EPO), but generally speaking we will continue to use EPS foam for scale, sport, and higher performance models. And with proper care EPS airframes can last for many, many years (decades even!)...especially if you put them back in the box they come in for the safest storage and transport!

      We've tried many times to get permission from the current owner of the full-scale Miss America so we can offer a model of it, but unfortunately he's never responded :( If anyone can help us reach him we would appreciate it because we'd like to offer that scheme too!

    I wish they stop making these small planes BNF. The nano3s and the sport cub have a cheap radios, why not add this? The plane is 149.99, DXS Transmitter 114.99, battery 14.99, charger 24.99 on of course and adapter, that is not listed to charge the battery. Total with tax $326... (The carbon cub with tax $321..no battery and charger.)

    • @HorizonHobbyProducts
      @HorizonHobbyProducts  7 месяцев назад +2

      We will continue to only offer most UMX models in BNF Basic versions because more people prefer to fly them with their "full-size/standard" transmitter...along with batteries and chargers they already own. Also, many of the newest UMX models -- including this one -- are so fast and cover so much ground now you MUST use a full-range transmitter for reliable control! The MLP6DSM, which is a "Micro Low Power" (the MLP in MLP6DSM) transmitter, included with the Nano and Sport Cub will not work reliably with this and most other recent generation UMX models due to its limited range...which is why we do not recommend using it and will never include it with any of them. The DXS is a 7-channel full-range transmitter that will work. But if you would like to fly multiple models with a single transmitter, as most people prefer, you should upgrade to a DX6e, NX7e, etc. Then you can fly up to 250+ models with the same $250-$300 transmitter...which, over time, is much less expensive than buying an RTF version with a transmitter (plus a battery and charger you may already have) every time you want a new model!
