Another excellent demo / video. I enjoyed your 'Bob Hoover' one wheelers and other scale flying. I guess it was fairly calm, but it looked like the plane was smooth all through the flight - almost like a larger model. I love how the Mustangs handle, and this one looked good even being the smaller size!
Great review and flying of the “Detroit Miss” Adam. Very informative and like how in your vids, comments are kept short and precise so the viewer can absorb the demonstration and not distracted by continuous talking as in other yet vids. Excellent camera footage Heidi, enjoy your knowledge on the subject at hand. Keep up the good work you two!😊
Thanks Adam another good video and mine is still in the box due to weather, its waiting for that maiden I know it will handle good like all the other umx's 😊👍👍👍👍
Thanks, another great little plane. A UMX Stuka has to be on the cards, then we may as well have the rest of the WWII warbirds, including the P38 and Mosquito.
Adam thanks for the video, I just received my Detroit Miss as I never purchased the VooDoo as I wasn't a fan of that paint scheme. funny how the Voodoo's battery was placed forward and the DM all the way back. Hope to maiden it soon due to the weather in NY and try some one wheel landings.
Outstanding little Mustang Adam! She really looks the part, both on the ground and in the air. I simply CANNOT believe the price point on this, very nice and it appears inflation isn't effecting many of the Horizon products, and that's a good thing for sure! All the best to Team Gault!
Thanks Adam; thoroughly enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing your experiences 4:17 regarding ‘linear servo lock potential’ and your recommendation to ‘limit’ servo travel to 95%.
Very good review, Tug's bank said I have spent too much till may at least, LoL Mini Draco, SWS Turbo Timber, X-Fly Twin Otter2m and Repairs have put my hobby dollars out there. I also donate planes and radios to Disabled/PTSD veterans and have had other YT channels donate planes to this cause. Again Adam flies yet another plane Tug wants in his hanger. Good video and great Job Heidi.
Thanks Tug! I know what you mean man, the hangar gets full quick! Heidi's uncle works with dogs that are trained and given to veterans with PTSD. Amazing what a furry friend can do.
Dang! Heidi really earned her pay (ha! As if!) Filming this little bugger! Power and agility. Once I'm out of the credit card dog house (3 new planes since New Years...ouch) I'll slide this on my short list for sure. I don't have ANY P51's!😮 I know- shameful... 😂 Great review! Thanks y'all 👍
She did Al! Lol. Thanks man. Wow three since NY...awesome. He he. YES, a Spitfire or Mustang must be in every fleet! Ok not really. I just like sayin' that. Lol
Always a great presentation & flights that do not disappoint I have the larger 800mm HK version with gyro & flies so well . This is a nice little model with the similar price here as the Micro Draco.well done Adam🇺🇸🇦🇺👍
Looked like an excellent UMX once the gear was removed. When you were flying inverted with the gear, it was too much for me and I had to make use of the chapter marks ;) I threw away the gear from my old PZ 1.1M Trojan many years ago! I loved that last flight you did. Although I don't need a UMX (that Crescendo keeps calling though), I have to admit that E-Flite are really kicking it out of the park with the current selection.
Thanks man! Yep, the Micro and UMX line is awesome right now. Interesting fact...Bob Hoover did a (slightly) dirty inverted pass with his P-51 in airshows for a while. Gear down but flaps up. He only did it one or two seasons, but he did it.
Well to be fair you're still pretty much right as this isn't normally scale with a warbird like that. I think he only did it a short time because it was sketch. Going slow enough not to over speed the gear, but inverted and low doesn't leave much margin at all.
Hello there. Im curious if you grab your nose cone or prop does your motor kind of wiggle ? Mine does and not sure if it's supposed to be like that. I wouldn't think so lol. It's not like these are easy to open up and get to the motor either.
Interesting. I mean, if I put some pressure on it, yes. Not much though, and you have to remember it is a plastic mount in a very small piece of foam. There is more potential play in any UMX than say a park flyer where you have mush more foam, and more dense foam. So a tiny bit you're fine, if it moves a lot not so much.
…also went back and watched your voodoo upload and compared your set up ; the expo values are little different on this one, and with the voodoo you had the battery forward …go back and slam that voodoo battery to the rear ! 8^)
Ford doesn't spend the money to develop things that benefit Chevy. Getting a Spektrum TX will solve your problem. And listen, I get the "proprietary" argument. Horizon/Spektrum makes planes for Spektrum...I get it. Funny how nobody asks why doesn't FrSky/Futaba/Jeti/ etc. make cool planes. Your TX of choice could, but they don't...Horizon does spend the money to develop all that, and I'm okay with them making the money off of it. Just my two cents...
Hi Adam - for me and I think for the money the FMS P51D 800mm Big Beautiful Doll gives you more bang per buck, its bigger but still small enough to be an easy transport option... also comes with Reflex (Safe and AS3X) for those who want it, how about doing a side by side comparison that would make a good video.. I might have missed it but did you say anything about the weight, is this another one of those lets go small so we don't need remote ID.... ?
Yes, he mentioned the weight, at around 4 ounces, and it is under 250 grams, so no ID requirement, if you’re not flying at a FRIA. Just like the UMX Voodoo, which is also an excellent flyer. I also agree with his comment about Horizon making the planes in this category.
The size difference is much more than you're thinking. The UMX is tiny. It costs more to shrink things up sometimes. I would rather have this than an 800m as I already have many 800mm planes. It flies just as well and is under 250 grams. It's two different animals. I can fly this in much smaller areas with a 2s. lol.
Hi Martyn. The UMX flying weight is 112g (4 oz) so about 1/4 of the 800mm planes. I do not have the FMS P-51 but I do have the Corsair. Every UMX plane I own (10 or so) is more enjoyable than it has been.
Great review. I was going to fly mine , but noticed that the aileron deflection was not equal when going from left to right. (ie -full aileron right gave a smaller deflection on the left and vice-versa) My other UMX planes had equal aileron differential deflection. Did you notice this? Thanks k
Thanks for getting back to me. I spoke to manufactures about the difference aileron throw. They said the differential aileron throw is normal . To stop the plane from stalling on a turn. -great channel and flying !!@@ModelAV8RChannel
Ahh yes. I thought you meant the total deflection one way was more than the other. Mechanical differential is normal with a lot of models. The aileron that goes up will go up farther than the aileron that goes down. This is actually more to coordinate the turn without rudder (as most model pilots don't use rudder much). The plane will still stall in a turn...or even straight and level if you get too slow and reach critical angle of attack. Differential can't prevent that, however it can delay a wing drop in a stall a bit, but the wing will eventually drop in a hard stall.
Wow so eloquently put. So basically the umx mustang is designed that way with differential aileron movement. You certainly know your stuff -thanks for explaining to me…. As a relative rookie in rc flying, i thought the mustang was faulty, when I tested ether ailerons. Cheers @@ModelAV8RChannel
Looks cool. The trim colors are wrong for that squadron. They should be blue. Many documentation sources have it wrong too. The red on the canopy is just the German flags. It was never red.
There's actual pictures from the war of that plane...the canopy frame is clearly painted, not just kill markings. According to testimony of actual pilots that served in that squadron...the trim was red. The 352nd fighter group had blue trim.
They are both great flyers, but for me personally the Waco all day long. It will fly much slower and can be enjoyed in a smaller area. Very aerobatic, and just really pretty.
I wonder why the Voodoo needs the battery all the way foward wit 1/8 oz weight added sugjested by you and this one needs the battery all tyhe way back if it's the same plane with a new paint scheme.
Probably the paint itself. We've seen some differences in CG with UMX planes that are fully painted. At that size, if one plane has more paint to the rear than another it can affect the CG. It can be as simple as how fast one person person on the line moves the spray gun vs another. Whatever the reason, we fly, test, tune, and determine the set up for each plane. If one comes out different than another it is what it is as long as they fly well.
@@ModelAV8RChannel yes my controlsurfaces are all perfectly mechanically adjust without safe and checked all. Neat review of a neat little UMX, Adam. It's time E-flite fought back against the tide of Eachine-esque mini warbirds.
