Really good looking plane, i always liked the older war birds, 🤯hearing that engine rip! Nice review and thanks for the history on the Voodo! Semper Fi, God Speed! 🤙
I been waiting for this one!!!! I got my little VooDoo about a week ago and I am now just waiting on a good morning to fly her. Bro, your videos are so informative and display the Aircraft so nice, I hope one day I can be as good a RC Pilot as you are, awesome flying 🤙🏼
@@ModelAV8RChannel I keep a UMX Turbo Timber in my Truck or a couple little Esheen Warbirds so my Daughter and myself can Dog Fight each other if we get a free moment whenever we are out and about, I am definitely going to keep practicing, and watching your Uploads.
Definitely get this plane and put it somewhere. You can look at it for a while until you’ve gone through one or two trainers so that you can keep this beauty alive.
Wow Jeff thank you very much! AWESOME! Man it had to be cool seeing it scream by! Reno is on my bucket list. Slower now though with Strega, Voodoo, and Rare Bear out of the mix.
Thanks Dave. The manual CG is really a suggestion, or place to start. Often pilots (me included) end up with their CG in a different place based on the feel/performance they want.
Thank you for the very good review. I found the information you told about the plane very helpful. I just got it and only had one flight in fading sunlight. It got too small too quickly. I’m older than you and not sure this plane isn’t too fast for me. But if I can fly it, as you did, that would be a great accomplishment for me. I really like your information about keeping the power in until it’s in ground effect and then coming off power. I will play with glide up high a couple times to see what it does at different power settings. I appreciate the information about putting the extra throw into the rudder. I’ll look to see if I can figure out how to do that. Keep up the good work, you’re an inspiration! 👍👏👏
Hey thanks man, and I saw your bit of history before you edited...thanks very much I didn't know that but it explains why I saw pictures of a "regular" P-51D with that paint scheme. I was wondering about that. I appreciate you educating me. You don't ever have to edit stuff like that out, I love to learn! Thanks again man!
I recently picked up a New UMX Pitts and gotta say they have nailed it with the new 3s system, can still be good for beginners on 2s and and still a lot of fun for seasoned pilots on 3s. The voodoo is the next one I'll be adding to the collection 👍
Adam. Really enjoy your reviews on new planes. I really like your recommended setups. This is definitely a cool EDF. I have the V1 Voodoo from FMS. I see they have a lot in common. 👍👍😊
Thanks Adam, really nice review of the UMX Voodoo. It is a really pretty plane, but I would prefer invasion stripes on a D model. JK, invasion stripes would clash with that purple. Thanks for sharing your experience with that cute bird and happy landings.
What a beauty Adam, such a good looking aircraft . They are around A$400 here. I would like to get the 1400mm FmS Mustang red tail with the sliding canopy @ $495. As usual a great review with lots information mate. Well done!
Thanks Noel! Man on the Mustangs I owned the FMS 1400mm, and it is a great flier, but under powered. If you can get the E-flite 1500mm it is the best Mustang I've flown, and plenty of punch for big, scale maneuvers.
What a fantastic UMX P51-D Mustang Adam looks and flies amazing!! And very quick on 3s!! Love the paint scheme really pops in the sky!! Heidi as always did a great job of filming such a small fast plane!! Great review both 😀👍
I gotta get one of these! I have the older BL version without safe...can be a handfulll at times...had one non destructive crash due to disorientation with the silver color! Don't think that'll be an issue with this one!
Another solid review Adam and Heidi.. Great job and very detailed review. What a zippy little bird. Which configuration did you prefer, LG on or off?.. Thanks for sharing.
FWIW: I removed the wheels on mine and put the 3S battery fully forward. Balances great that way with no trim differences to the case of having the wheels on and the battery centered in the cavity. Fantastic little plane! I have a grass field so it's hand launching and belly landing for me. Does seem to fly both faster and longer with the gear off due to less drag. The extreme paint scheme works well with seeing it in the air. Mine didn't feel tail heavy in the case of wheels off and battery fully forward but I might not be as picky and I do seem to fly it at 85-100% throttle.
Hey man awesome! Glad you like it. It is a looker. What I feel may have to do with a lot of different throttle settings, or just personal preference. The main thing is if yours is set up the way you like it...its all good. I love the paint as well.
Great flite i have the umx pitts and umx turbo timber flys great with 3s batterys too I also have the e-flite air tractor and the 850 mm pitts S1-s all great flyers you have to do a review on the air tractor great mellow flyer keep the videos coming 😀
It's great that HH are investing in the UMX models once more. Maybe there's more to come (especially with the warbirds, as HK has been eating HH's lunch, dinner and dessert for years now)... so hopefully there's interesting times ahead. Superbly flown, beautifully filmed... and kudos to the model's owner for letting you share it with us. Are you going to buy one of these for yourself, Adam?
I know right! Scott is great. He's an airline pilot, and our buddy Carl, who does the same thing is a retired airline pilot. The running joke at our local flying field is that Model AV8R is sponsored by Delta. Lol.
The box they come in is nice, but the better half can spot them from 2 miles away. Was going to ask horizon if they could make the box just brown? And half the size? And only delivered when the wife isn't home? I know it's a lot to ask for but I bet they would see more sales 🤣
Absoutely wonderful review...as always! I really like where you are going with the historical aspects of the full scale aircraft; really helps to put the model in perspective. Boy, that l'il thing rips! You are right, it goes really good for a UMX plane. Heck, you could almost start a UMX racing league at the club! Hey, that would be really cool! AND cheap! Anyhoo, thanks for bringing us this Team Gault look at the latest UMX offering from our friends at Horizon. Blue skies and fair winds my friend!
Great review guys. 👏 it really looks fantastic. I have the umx p-51 d and it would be great but I can't turn the AS3X off which drives me absolutely crazy. The minute it's inverted it tries shaking me back upright. The hardest plane I have ever flown inverted 🙃
@@ModelAV8RChannel I just noticed a piece of tape holding the body together was lose. I will have to try inverted again. I bet that was the inverted issue I was having 🤣
i missed the last 2s p51 from eflite have been waiting for sooooooooooooo long for this little bird , i am wondering if it will fly with my old Di6i transmitter , ells it would cost me too much for an upgrade with the new batteries as well
I don't see why it wouldn't fly on a 6i. You wouldn't have the telemetry but should still have SAFE/AS3X on the gear switch. You could check with Horizon to make sure, but I think you'd be good.
Nice video Adam, It looks cool but I think I am finished with UMX planes for now. They just get damaged way to easy. for the price of them. I am considering picking up the larger Voodoo P-51 once Horizon has them in stock. Maybe it was just the way it was videoed but it didn't look that quick to me. But i have seen other videos where it did look fast. I know you use those lipos for your other planes but you could have double sticky the weigh on the front of the lipo just for testing. Keep those videos coming and Happy Halloween .
Thanks Chris! It is faster than I made it look. We only had one morning to fly it and none of the high speed (well full speed) stuff looked good on camera.
Great video! This is very helpful for me as a relatively new flyer who just got this plane. I'm having difficulty landing this plane because I'm used to being able to cut the throttle and glide in the last part. The way this plane behaves when I cut the throttle is something I'm still getting used to - the windmilling prop slows it down so much that it immediately stalls instead of just gliding. Other than keeping the throttle very low all the way into ground effect do you have any other tips on how to land this plane smoothly?
Thanks very much Tom! You've pretty much figured it out. A controlled approach is required with most UMX planes. Fly them all the way to touch down with a bit of power. You're right about the windmilling prop, but the biggest hurdle is the low Reynolds number of a ultra micro. There is just so little mass the retained energy in next to nothing. You chop the throttle, and two seconds later you've cashed in all your energy. They fly great, but have to land with power. Happy flying my friend!
@@ModelAV8RChannel Thank you. I had also been putting the battery in the back part of the compartment. I flew it today, but this time I put the battery all the way to the front as you suggested, and it made a world of difference. It's much easier to land now, since it doesn't go nose-up and stall as easily as it did before. Thank you for the tip!
You Do Voo Doo WELL!! I still LOVE my original P-51 UMX

Thanks for another great video. If they really wanted to take all of the confusion out of the CG location, they'd just put a mark on the wing.
Thanks Dave. The manual CG is really a suggestion, or place to start. Often pilots (me included) end up with their CG in a different place based on the feel/performance they want.
