  • I've made quite a few drifting videos up to this point, but I don't think I've ever relayed the information that allows me to find consistency while drifting...
    Seeing as the FRS/GT86/FRS is a pretty tricky platform to start on, I figured I'd share how I set it up, and also the general process I go through to find what works for me in a given session.
    Big Thanks to @Drip_N_Drift for all the rad footage!
    If you have any tips that would help Subs/Fellow Viewers/Or even myself, please don't hesitate to leave it in the comments! Leave a Like if you enjoyed the video, and Subscribe for more content like this!

    The swivel mount is so nice cause its letting me also see where you point the tires on your run. You have no idea how helpful this has been for my own seat time in my twin! Thank you! 🙏 🏎💨

    What section width tires are you running up front? Do you keep it square? Great videos btw!!

    • @ryevdee6064
      @ryevdee6064  Месяц назад +1

      If you’re initially learning and no angle mods I’d run the stocks or a narrow front 215 or 225s all around would be best imo, any wider wheel will limit angle.

      I'd call it "full-bolt-on"...but doesn't have a ton of angle, just the Megan tie rods, coils, and good headers!

    hi dude nice vid!. On this setup with megan tie rods, what are ur front wheel spec?, and is it safe from rubbing?

    • @ryevdee6064
      @ryevdee6064  2 года назад

      This setup was a 17x9 +35mm w/ +25mm spacer, I was rubbing prior to the spacer on the roll bar but not enough to be a detriment. I know a few drivers who removed their roll bar and prefer it vs keeping it, I now also run no roll bar up front with the PBM angle kit for similar reasons. Hope the info helps! 🙏

    great video! so tempting unfortunately but fortunately i daily mine to take make 86 out like this. That last run with the helmet pov was so smooth. What mods (angle kit?) are you running and camber?

    • @ryevdee6064
      @ryevdee6064  9 месяцев назад +1

      Back then the FRS was my daily haha 🤠 It was on Megan inner tie rods and coil overs that’s about it mods wise for drifting, camber around -3 I believe!

    Hey man sick video I know this was 3 years ago, but do you prefer the front and rear tyres to be balanced in terms of grip? I know in the video you had super grippy tyres in the front but didn't like it. What was the reasoning for this? Cheers.

    • @ryevdee6064
      @ryevdee6064  8 дней назад

      Too much of a variance in wheel speed essentially, rear wants to gain speed at a high rate but the front grippier tire won’t won’t move as fast since there’s more friction/stick slowing down the front tires, early on it’s hard to manage that differential and in my case the RE71Rs definitely didn’t help, they really aren’t meant to “float” rather stick no matter the situation, which led to a super twitchy feel I could barely handle. I’d say good rule of thumb stay within 100 treadwear front to rear and you’ll be fine, in this case the difference would have been around 200 TW difference, these days I run Kendas KR20a 300 TW for fronts which feels good but isn’t unbearably sticky.

    Ik this video is old but I came across it looking for answers I have a 2018 86 and I was just curious but would I need to pull the fuse in my car cuz I’ve tried it with traction control all the way off with the normal bottoms but car feels under powered ?

    • @ryevdee6064
      @ryevdee6064  8 месяцев назад +1

      Without headers and such it really is pretty gutless from the factory, high air pressure in the rear always helps and I prefer keeping the fuse pulled if you’re drifting for any prolonged time. Rather have 0 extra factors when drifting if possible 🙌

  • @cripplingdepression1623
    @cripplingdepression1623 2 года назад +1

    Is it a bad idea to run two different tire brands/tread ratings on front and rear? I only have 2 sets of wheels and one is for grip driving. So something like Yoko AD08R front and Ironman Gen2 rear.

    • @ryevdee6064
      @ryevdee6064  2 года назад +1

      You’d be able to figure out, it’s just not conducive to learning imo, you’d learn techniques, the car, and link courses quicker with a more predictable setup. These cars in stockish form are super snappy, so I think it’s best to make everything as easy and simple as possible starting out so you got some room for error.

    • @cripplingdepression1623
      @cripplingdepression1623 2 года назад

      Thanks for the advice! I’ll probably keep an eye out for an extra set of stock wheels over the winter just so I can have consistency with extra tires. In the meantime…more Assetto.

    How is the engine holding up? Hella to nervous to drift mine. Also what do you to prevent it from blowing up while drifting?

    • @ryevdee6064
      @ryevdee6064  3 года назад +5

      Engine is doing great as far as I see! I do frequent oil changes, run good 5w30 oils to avoid over-heating, and I make sure it's filled up to the top line so there's not a lot of fear of oil starvation. Way I see it, it's going to blow one day whether I do it on the street casually or in drift, I'd rather be having fun when the time comes.....XD

      Had a great time learning on the Ironman iMove Gen 2s, relatively cheap, very consistent until they're getting towards the end of life. So far that's really the only tire I have experience with but I've gone through x4 pairs in the rear, no regrets with the iMoves at all!
