Probably the most engaging and entertaining drift video event I’ve watched. To see The Stout on real roads allows you to truly understand the skill it takes to handle these vehicles. Just seeing the sidewall of the hill as Ryan slides for at least 40m shows how difficult drifting really is. Mad props to Ryan and this build. One of my favorites.
I always said if WV improved its roads it would be a drifters dream destination. Beautiful scenery crazy switchbacks and constant changing in camber and direction.
SO awesome to see a STOUT getting some love. I grew up in one and later a 79 pickup and now the only thing our family drives are Toyotas. In fact I own "too many" Toyota 4wd's according to the wife.
@@SAMPLETEXT285 Oh cool. You ever see the Amish people in (Lang-Kissed-Her) Lancaster? I got a guy I worked with that his town was on fire for so long because of the coal. It’s called Centralia. Wild stuff in that part of the country. They disrespect you guys. They got that train that blew up on the Ohio and Pennsylvania border and the politicians didn’t care!
@@franko8572 i see amish people all the time riding around on horses and buggy's and doing farming and such. But you kinda have to be on your toes a little bit while driving through Lancaster because the roads around there follow the property lines of old farmsteads and properties that no longer exist so they are very twisty and have alot of blind corners and sudden elevation changes and you never know if you'll turn one of those corners and see a horse drawn buggy going well under the speed limit it's definitely sketchy but it will make you a better driver.

Thanks for putting WV on the map. Lived here all my life. When it snows the entire state turns into an epic drift playground. I use a 97 toyota tacoma with a LSD in the rear and its every bit as epic as what these vehicles do in the snow! I also autocross and rally cross in WV with an Fc3s. If you all want to go to the New River Gorge bridge there is a 1-way perfectly paved touge style road similar to irohazaka slopes! Hit me up I want to be involved.
Being from the great state of WVa. I'd like to let you know you are doing it wrong. We stay in our lane, lol. Everything else looks up to par for our roads, lol. Oh, one more thing. Gotta try it in the snow, haha
Ya'll need to come to Madison Indiana. We have 3 hills similar to what you were just running in the video. We sit on the Ohio River and our town is kind of split up in 2 sections that we refer to as top of the hill and bottom of the hill. We are a historic town as well. Just a thought. I've been saying that I would love to time attack the hills but have no idea how to pull it off legally. Lol
When the Pros get behind the Amateurs it mixes things up, a bet of a different challenge added to the new terra-rain. Many many years back before "Deals Gap" was even known about to the "Internet" back when "Pete" the man that started it and built the "Dragons Den." Pete was a great guy, he used to catch fresh fish and cook it for us and we would watch our homemade duct taped VHS players mounted to our CBR's, the first one I road there was my Hurricane so that should say how long ago it was lol. Yeah, our knee dragoning setup up was a Coffee Can smashed in a round-like shape and duct taped to our knees, oh and some foam padding sometimes. Cafe Racing was just a word that had not taken hold but I saw racers dragging their knees on TV so I made my own knee pad sliders and did it so finding curves became a passion, pavement types too.

I would love to see y'all on the Diamondback, 226A in North Carolina. Small town, can definitely get something worked out up here. 210 curves over 11 miles with 2000ft elevation change.
While I'm not a drifter. seeing all the vids coming out of drift Appalachia is amazing. some of these roads grip driving are equally as scary, as you'll close in on 100mph very quick in some of the longer straights, sweeping corners. we also have the Appalachian Hillclimb series, which has events all up and down the mountain range. would love to maybe see these two events partner up at some point.
I've drove this road every day for 20+ years.. put me in one of those and you'll see something. I can drive it with my eyes closed... was drifting my Mustang GT in 91.. road is all smooth and paved recently. It's easy now.
Dope that you guys stopped at the go mart in white sulphur springs wva!!! Not from there but I’ve spent plenty of time growing up around the area. Also the last good gas station before you get to snowshoe mountain ski resort!
Once you are in the drift and the pendulum is established, you don't need to keep using the drift brake. You only need that for entry if you want to avoid adding excessive energy with throttle.
