    I've tried the poly thing and hated it. I ended up breaking up with my ex, just in time too about a 2 years later I found out she contacted HIV and gave it to her poly husband. They ended up divorcing. I'm super happy to hear that some couples can make it work, but I'm a gigantic fan of monogamy.

    And here I am feeling guilty that I want another man (besides my husband) to finish the renovation and maybe one more just to clean the house.

    The world needs more open minded people. Just because one person doesn't agree doesn't mean it's wrong. I've considered myself open minded and free spirited but had some issues when it came to sorting out personal feelings. The way you explain how if you feel jealous, for example, you look internally; it's just what I needed to get over that hill. I keep it in mind everyday and it has helped me so much. Keep spreading the word of love for yourself and others!

    My boyfriend and I are non-monogamous after 2 years of monogamy. Our relationship is so much happier and we have never felt so much trust and love for someone since we decided to try it out. When people judge, i just laugh it off because we are happy like this and how we find our happiness is no one's business but our own.

    Call me crazy but I love my husband so much I would never share myself with another. For me, love is sacrifice. It's easy to follow my disires wherever they may lead. (and believe me I have desired other men). Because of my love for my husband, I am his and his alone. It's hard at times to not be selfish but, for me, that is love. I know I am his and he is mine and that is the most precious gift we can give one another. Like I said... call me crazy.

    wow, this is so beautiful. I found your channel a few weeks ago, and I’m so grateful. You all viscerally exude unconditional love on a level that I am still trying to learn myself. I have struggled tremendously with trauma, and that has led to anger, dishonesty, and substance abuse. While I am doing well now, it has been heartbreaking to tackle these afflictions when my spirit is so inherently loving and peaceful. In the last few weeks when I have grappled with jealousy, impatience, and anger- I have thought of you guys and the example you have set with your inner peace and incredible acceptance of each other. You are helping me grow into the open, deeply spiritual being that I always have been, but has been long tainted by pain. The way you are raising Ilya not to be subjected to the societal pressures related to gender have opened up really important conversations with my partner and I about how we will raise our someday children. You both are nearing the physical summation of your soul journey on this plane, and we are lucky to learn from your generations of wisdom. Thank you for what you do. I love you guys, and I love your love.

    I am so glad to find you two! You are such a great example that non monogamy does not have to mean a lack of commitment. Ive had a recent sexual and relational paradigm shift/epiphany/awakening and am now exploring the world of ethical non monogamy and polyamory. I relate exactly to what you said about the freedom and the safety, in being able to explore myself and my own journey but be in a loving committed relationship with someone. "enjoy the hell out of life" YES!!! Thank you both

    they are BOTH very lucky to have found another being your able to connect with on such a spiritual, mind-blowing, magical way! Watching them speak, move, look at each other, it's even a magical experience for me, the viewer! They emit so much love & confidence in their relationship & I am SO glad they are sharing it with the world! I personally as of now am monogamous, but seeing the confidence in their relationship really shows me that a polyamorous relationship can & will work if your truly open, honest, willing to try & be a little selfless, but I think for any type of relationship to work you need all those things!... Back to my point, it's so amazing that by just watching them look at each other & speak of & to each other, you can CLEARLY see the love they feel for each other & it's that BOOM boom BOOM heart beating, butterflies in my tummy kind of love, so real, so raw. We too are lucky to get to be a part of it! Thank you Connor & Brit! You two are such beautiful people & are doing an amazing job at spreading love & spreading awareness for people that might be a little closed minded, for people that don't believe they can truly live their lives the way the REALLY WANT! Your opening so many doors & showing so many possibilities! That is such a huge gift to the world!! I could go on for ages about you two, but for now I think this will do! I just want you two to keep doing what your doing, I know you will. I hope you can feel my love right now if your reading this. I would hope for you two to hug or touch each other & let my love live threw you for a couple seconds! LOVE & Light!! You two shine so bright, truly. xo- a girl named Haley

    I love this! My husband and i just recently started a non-monogamous relationship. We are hooked! We have been together for over 6 years, and married for a little over a year now. Being in a compersion relationship has brought us so much closer, i love hearing his stories as well as him hearing mine. We are both so happy we have tested the waters, and plan to stay in it. Ours is only on a Physical level and not an emotional level though, just a person he can hook up with for that ego boost and vise versa

    Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and relationship! I have always felt bad about physically connecting with another person unless there was some label attached to it. Even really recently I felt such a strong attraction and connection with someone but didn't fully connect in the way that I wanted because of social norms and the "values" I grew up with. I thought about it later and really was sad that I had felt so guilty about following my passion and doing something so natural and instinctive as connecting with another. Your videos are really helping me trust and understand myself more! Thank you so much! ❤

    I understand that there are unconventional qualities about your lifestyles and relationship, but I just felt so many emotional parallels between how you feel about each other and how the love of my life and I discovered each other.
    I think its how people should feel about each other and hearing it from you is really affirming to my personal life choices.

    Omg I doubt you will see this comment but I have to leave it anyway. I’ve been watching you guys for SO LONG and only just now watched this particular video. It is so pure and lovely. Like many people echo the love you have for each other is so evident. I have no desire to be in a poly relationship (so honestly I have no idea how I stumbled on you...lol) but I still learn so much about relationships from you guys. Your thoughtfulness and deliberateness in how you approach your life together is so great. More people should be like that. It’s also so fun to see this spark between you in hindsight before Ilya came around. I know people have commented on the palpable change but your love and respect is still just so evident and pure. I have a 6yo and those early years are just so tenuous even under the best circumstances. Continue to be kind and gentle with yourselves. And jus THANK YOU for sharing yourselves with us. ❤️

    Brittany this explains how you have such a gift with your coaching play. You have such a beautiful way of connecting with others and a solid relationship with Connor at the same time. Your story was a little bitter and mostly sweet to hear. Bitter because I am searching for something similar to what you have but sweet cause it's so beautiful to understand your story as two people who are in love with each other and all the aspects of life that others dare not explore in the light of resistance to fear. I've really been reflecting on myself lately and have realized that I have so much love to give, and I always feel so guilty when I find myself having very strong feelings towards other people and not being able to explore them because I'm in a monogamous relationship. And having just ended that relationship I've been able to explore those feelings, and even though we're just friends/"casual lovers" he seems like he may be open to this kind of relationship someday. But thank you so much, this was very helpful and reaffirming. I loved your story. You both seem very happy.

    This is beautiful to see how you guys are working with each other, and thank you for sharing. I have always felt deeply possessive in relationships, but I think I am beginning to understand that a lot of that is coming from not feeling loved enough, i.e. not being with the right person. I have learned a lot about myself, especially in the last few years, and while I am not sure that I could ever be truly comfortable in a non-monogamous relationship, watching your videos is really allowing me to challenge my own assumptions about myself, my life, and my thoughts and feelings. I tried it and I was having a great time but it turned out that it was one sided. This person that I was having such a good time with couldn't handle it when I was elsewhere connecting but I never once made him uncomfortable about his life. Needless to say, it didn't work out. I've never met anyone else that I wanted that kind of open lifestyle with. That's okay too. I'm happy with right now and that's what counts as far as I'm concerned. If everyone could remove those jealous inclinations that have been implanted since we were children, things would obviously just be easier, but I don't even know how else to explain it. Life is a like a big pit of those balls kids play in and when your head pops up you don't know who's there waiting for you? Happiness is the goal at the end of the day and I'm happy and getting happier each day and alot of it has to do with finding you both on my laptop and for that I am grateful! Huge love to both of you!

    I started watching your video tour of Winnie, because I am preparing to change my lifestyle to that of a mobile lifestyle. In viewing that, I just thought you two were awesome, then I clicked on some more of your videos. So, I went down the rabbit hole and ended up here. I plan to watch more, but this one really got me thinking. The way you presented your connection was beautiful. I have never been able to cheat on someone for several reasons. Three main reasons are: 1) Being monogamous is what is expected and it would be a betrayal of the other person. 2) I am socially awkward as hell. 3) Those first two combined would make me a crazy person. My thought process went back to situations where I was in a relationship and I met someone whom I had a connection with. Those connections can be confusing when when you're expected to care about one person at a time on that level. I never allowed those connections to turn into anything romantic or sexual, but that didn't prevent me from feeling guilty. I understand that it's the way we're programmed and what's expected of us, but seeing how you two connect seriously changed my view on connections in general. I don't know how or if I will ever integrate this kind of thinking into my future connections, but the seed is planted. I suppose I will just have to make your videos required reading for potential dates!
    I thank you both for sharing and promoting positive energy and love.

    I really like your energy together, the love you share is definitely visible :) Here's my question, from a monogamous standpoint... You both were married and had the experience of relatively "long-lasting" monogamous relationships before you became non-monogamous. Do you think that may be a reason why your relationship is so successful? With that I mean that you've both experienced marriage and now, being non-monogamous, don't feel like you're missing out on anything if you stay non-monogamous... I'm very curious to know whether somebody who has never been married or in a long monogamous relationship before would maybe initially wish for such social structures that intend some sort of "stability". What are your thoughts? :)

    Maybe you've answered this in a previous video...
    My question is: if you have so much love and adoration for your main partner (you hold others to their standard and compare them ) how do you find yourself interested in other people? If someone were the 'bees knees ' to me and I knew no one else could compare, I wouldn't bother being with other people.
    Thanks!

    I’m at a turning point in my life as I watch you two, I’m currently dating a man whose very closed minded and I’ve always felt I’m more open minded, I’ve tried so hard to get him to be more understanding but to no avail, I’m thinking about leaving but I do love him. He struggles with trust and jealousy big time, he’s always giving me his two cents or I guess you could say a way to control me about people I work with. example: my co worker is a guy who’s openly gay and my guy is jealous but over the top jealous( just because he’s of opposite sex) I’ve explained to him several times, I don’t choose who my boss hires and this is ridiculous, but what do I do when I love this person?! It’s making me bitter because I can’t get him to open his mind and heart and trust. It’s not worth fighting over and it’s wasting precious energy. He may be understanding for a few days and bam it’s back! He’s even tried making me choose him or my job! I need some advice and please don’t just say leave him because it’s more complicated then see ya bye! I struggle with some co dependency. He’s lovable and I admire many things about him when he’s not so jealous or I don’t have to go to work. We’re just so different and I find it hard to separate myself once I’m in a relationship. Hopefully I can one day have the strength to be me and let go of toxic relationships without wasting so much of my life waiting for people to change. ❤️ I aspire to one day have a loving relationship as deep as yours is. 🤩

    I feel a little bit confused by polyamory/non-monogamous relationships aha The cold hard facts of it.... I know you use the word 'connecting' a lot, I am just wondering if that simply means that if you feel like flirting, talking or getting intimate with another person, you just go ahead and do it and you also talk about it honestly. But for me, when I first fell in love with my boyfriend, whom I am still with today, I couldn't dream of looking at anyone else, let alone anything else. Maybe it's just something as inbuilt as our sexual orientation?

    • @labarbovent
      @labarbovent 8 лет назад +3

      I understand what you are saying, I feel the same way, I don't understand how you can "share" someone when you love him/her so much... It just hurts

    • @conorandbrittany
      @conorandbrittany  8 лет назад +3

      I can't speak for other people who may define their relationship as "poly" or "open" but for us, we basically have no rules. We have no expectations or assumptions and we wake up every morning with the option to choose what we will do and who we will do it with. That might mean spending all day together or it might mean connecting with someone else. The term "connection" for us doesn't at all mean explicitly sexual. Connection could be as simple as a glance or a smile or a short exchange. We really want to support each other as individuals and support what excites us, what is pulling us, what is attracting us.
      We can REALLY understand feeling confused about this approach, or maybe feeling some fear or that it is simply just not something your are interested in. More than anything else, this channel seeks to support YOU on YOUR journey which is completely unique. Our goal is to simply share what we are doing, what excites us, and what is working for us. Our hope that others can use bits and pieces to create the type of life and relationships they want.
      Thanks so much for taking the time to watch the video and comment on the channel. We hope some of our other vids will be of interest to you!
      Much love,

    My husband and I have been talking extensively about starting to open up our marriage. The one issue that I'm having is that my husband is a very sexual person and I am not sexual whatsoever. How do you two navigate through those kind of hardships? I mean, I want my husband to be able to be with whoever you want to be with, but I tend to feel jealous at times thinking that he doesn't love me when he wants to have sex with other people. And I figured I would ask someone who has been in a polyamorous relationship for years as a source of advice.

    To him:
    how do you guard YOUR heart from NOT “falling in love” with the other ones, their bodies, sex,... or,...
    Guard from not having an “emotional connection” that causes you to naturally feel OR THINK LESS about her
    SEPARATELY, ok, once you’ve already fantasized about others while doing your “main squeeze” here, how do you make it so that you can STILLLLL sometimes (or often?) think about JUST HER ALONE?
    - I ask because the addiction or biological chemical change causes a strong habit of feeling that is VERY HARD TO BREAK

  • @hiskevandermeer5655

    I was wondering, is your relationship so good because you are clear about you feelings for each other? It sounds like you are both deeply in love with each other and really are choosing one and other. So like this is your home base and sometimes you go out to play and explore. That sounds so much fun! But what if it feels like the other person is connecting more with someone else?
    What I wanted to ask is, does this kind of a relationship ask for this deep connecting 'home base'? Is that why you dont get insecure?

    • @conorandbrittany
      @conorandbrittany  8 лет назад +1

      +Hiske van der Meer We have been asked this before. I think it works really well because it is the set up of our relationship. But we know people who get their home base needs met from multiple partners and are very happy with that set up. I think it really just depends on the people involved. Thanks for the question!

    • @conorandbrittany

      +Kathryn Rollins Great question. I feel like every connection has its own unique intensity about it that requires some balance. The amount of energy we share with others and one another tends to look like waves. There is a certain flow to it all that, once accepted, feels very fluid and absent of resistance.

I wonder if you two do that with one another, maybe yourself, and other people you are in deeper relationships with? To be very clear and mindful and intentional of the spaces you create with others and be open about what needs you bring into the relationship and might wanna get met and which not, etc. :) would love to hear you talk about it! also navagating all these greyzones of realtionships that in society is not really talked about, everything that's not just sex, not just friendship, not you're one i will love for ever ... ;)

I'm adventerously fun, and playful! full of pure loving qualities that humans crave for! luckily for me, I believe I have too found a partner that I can explore all possibilities with! I've been the most open and honest, more than with any other partner. post-monogamous, ex divorcee, with 3 children! life is full of so many amazing opportunities, and I want to experience it all!

    If you've ever had your heart just completely smashed so brutally that the pain lasted several years then I seriously doubt one could ever attempt an open relationship. From my perspective this is playing with fire. But I suppose if one runs off on the other then it simply wasn't meant to be open relationship or not.
    It's like why are we exploring Mars and other planets when there's still so much unknown about our own Earth. We've seen 5% of our oceans.
    Why pursue multiple partners when there's still so much to explore and learn about each other? Have you both reached the end and you know all there is to know about the other?
