  • How is it possible for us to have high self-esteem when our parents were perfectly imperfect and couldn't be there for us? They couldn't take care of us because they were doing so many different things, but our defense mechanism is to blame ourselves.

That are mechanism that have been learned in the childhood or adolescents. The child thinks, a parent isn't loving them, because he rehold speaking to the child.
Some of the parent are absent, because they struggle with inner traumas and they didn't give the child the "well done ", or the full accepting of your beeing, the child blames itself and this is going with their personality through life. Because you never question the reaction of yout parent in childhood, you have to live in the circumstances, as a child.
As a child you were stuck. Get free with new learning belief sentences .

I don’t recall blaming myself for my father’s alcohol addiction. My mother was there for me. Is it possible to have blamed myself at some point and not being able to remember it? Do all children blame themselves?
From one adult child of an alcoholic parent to all of you out there: I love you all❤️

The world is mostly ill, because of trauma experiences and not so many fathers or men are able to talk necessary, uplifting things. Critics, or the deep silence is often the case. It needs a belief to hope and good faith to God. If the parents don't show love to another, show no thanks to each other, it is no good fundament. I think it is spiritual, but it is the product of trauma, too.

How are you blaming your self for not getting your parents attention during adolescence?

How do you not? It comes from mom and dad not taking responsibility because they were "perfect"-ly imperfect. But they see it as perfect. If this doesn't immediately resonate with you then your life is just different than the audience he's trying to reach
