idk why people call final horizon the alternate ending. Its clearly the true one. To me this is the story they wanted to tell, but didnt have much time for due to the deadline
It is seperate from everything and not the ending you are going to get if you just follow the mainstory. By definition, that makes it the alternate ending, even if it is the true ending.
wierd notes for The end fight: The part where you need to dodge while attacking Supreme's face to attack the cord is not the first time we see this implemented in any of the titans. 2 features of the Knight battle is ported to this battle in the first phase of Knight, you can skip the shield-riding sequence by performing 1 combo. BUT before the combo ends, you need to dodge to the right to throw the attacks to his face. if you don't know this trick, you will NEVER finish the fight with The End. another part of the Knight battle is the ending cutscene. where Sonic knocks his sword away, and steals it with Cyloop. You don't get to do this yourself, but when you realize Supreme's gun is targetable, AND STEALABLE via Cyloop, the game is basically telling you: "Hey, rember how the knight battle ended? *WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE* "
Watching Frontiers blossom into this wonderful showcase for Sonic Teams talent and commitment has really been such a heart-warming experience, as it finally helped prove to me that they never lost their flow, they were just held back by their own publisher time and time again. I'm right there with you in not only being excited for the franchises future, but with feeling confident that what comes next will showcase just what this team of talented developers can do. Amazing video as always homie, loved the energy, humor and the pacing of it all. Despite being 45 minutes, it barely felt like I spent 20 watching, which is a testament to how engaging it was to watch. Looking forward to what's next, Keep up the great work!
The final horizon really shows that sonic team has talented and skilled developers all they need is more time and money to be able to create their vision the way they want.
Frontiers, mainly with its DLC 2 and 3 content proved to me that Sonic Team really do know how to make a really good Sonic platformer The movement and level design in DLC 3 specifically is what I’d call genuinely some of the best 3D Sonic has ever seen and this has all been done in a free post launch content update, in a game that was never built around these mechanics no less. That and the game being very obviously rushed and lower budget than it should’ve been Considering the success of Frontiers, the brand as a whole and Sonic Team gaining more members and budget, can you imagine what we could see in the next one if they play their cards right?? The next mainline Sonic game is one of my most anticipated of all time and we literally know nothing about it, it really could be an amazing game I just hope they don’t get fucked over again Also great video btw the production value is shockingly good
I had no idea. I think that speaks more to how vague the game is about it than anything lol. Thats good to know though, Ill have to try it next time I do that fight
20:00 Yesn't, I cheesed them. 37:02 My biggest jank-moment is the 4th tower. Not only were the rail launches wack and seemingly random(I didn't get better at them, I just got more lucky.), the tower is also unbeatable on Switch because a spring just does not launch you anywhere near high enough. So yeah, one needs to use easy mode to get through there.(The extreme mode-players are probably looking for a way to glitch-launch yourself up there, otherwise they are stuck. And then they get smacked in the face by Master King's nonsense later.) 37:40 A lot of this is on a similar level weirdly, biggest example is the Ninjaboss that gives you 10 minutes when...you can beat it in like 30 seconds on average? The best parts were probably the towers(that work) because they are hard, but aren't cheap unlike a lot of other stuff here. And you aren't encouraged or even able to easily skip past. Meaning they are actually good design. Though I am absolutely not a fan of the lack of checkpoints...like sure, it makes it slightly harder, but it just produces more frustration than anything.(Kinda like how I wish they cut out the unskippable cutscenes and other timewaste out of the final trial, not actually add to it.) 38:41 The pains of inconsistent animation budget. Shadow, 06 and Unleashed have these superb CGI cutscenes sprinkled across and I wish that became the standard for ALL cutscenes at some point, but sadly no. But then Lost World and Forces showed us that cutscenes recorded in-engine could have potential for a lot of expression too, even if those games failed to capitalize on it...and then Frontiers just kinda feels dead for some reason? It didn't have to be like that either, the titan bossfights have more dynamic fluidity in their small toe than the cutscenes have in their whole being.
differences between the endings between the base game and the final horizon ending: 1. In the scene where sonic crashes into the ground as super sonic, the emeralds ditch sonic before hitting the ground. meaning he took fall damage this time. In the original, the emeralds left sonic AFTER he touched the ground. 2. White Sage gets to be with Eggman 3. The credits music plays "I'm with you" with a vocal track by sage. 4. there's an extra 20 seconds to the 2nd part of the credits. that got me happy crying the first time I saw it.
im sure a part of that is the edgy 2000s era music sang my kellen quinn titan music is a part of that. He has done so well, they even brought him back for a reprise of the main theme for the final battle.
I honestly couldn't be bothered to GAF about Frontiers, even after these updates. It's such a vapid, directionless overcorrection from the Colors Era, while still acknowledging it and repeating much of its stupidity. It has some admirable parts like most of the soundtrack (some tracks are trash), the scope of being an open world game, trying to take itself seriously once again, putting emphasis on 3D (until it crams lazy 2D sections), making decent interactions between characters (even it's just a repetition of their Adventure character arcs, which makes it pointless, Knuckles especially since he hasn't been seen guarding the Master Emerald in years, and Tails being used a mouthpiece). But on the other hand, it's barebone, unfocused, the plot is paperthin and barely existing, most of the dialogues consist of repeating character arcs from SA1 (Amy want to spread love, Knuckles wants freedom, Tails wants independence), tedious easter eggs of even the stupidest things, or sappy melodrama with uninteresting characters. Sage especially is the most useless addition, and in fact, she detracts from Eggman by being his little girl. Eggman himself has no agency. The End is a lazy, last minute twist villain with no explanation or motivation. It's literally the more boring version of the Brethren Moon from Dead Space 3. The retcons like Chaos and the Emeralds being alien also cheapen their mystique. And the constant reference to bs like Zavok, Infinite, Sticks, those IDW garbage comics. Things don't get better with gameplay : Sonic feels like a weird attempt at mixing Boost and Adventure but with terrible physics, the combat feels redundant as all combos feel same-y, most puzzles, minigames and minibosses feel repetitive and tedious, there's still pointless 2D, the Cyberspace stages are just lazy nostalgia rehashes of the same tired motives over and over. People poured so much praise for this flimsy game, while I couldn't feel more apathetic and not hopeful for this franchise.
Sonic spent many years running away from it's cringe. It was afraid to call itself cringe, and tried to escape. It hid in it's past, trying desperatly not to acknowledge it's early 3D years, and it stagnated, unable to move forward. Wiith Frontiers, it stopped running, and finally faced itself. No longer would it run away, this time, it would embrace it's cringe. It would discover what it was truly capable of. The cyber power in the game is a representation of this.
You couldn't be more goddamn dead wrong. Sonic spent 13 years being cringe by being meta and self deprecating, while clinging so hard to a fabled "glorious" past. Frontiers is a pathetic overcorrection, the story is nonexistent, most of of the dialogue consists of flimsy memberberries of the stupidest things like Zavok, Infinite, Boom or those trash IDW comics. That's not "embracing the cringe", it's a declaration of defeat and desperation. And this franchise is a dumpster fire.
MFW when she finals my horizons 😳
Damn
ee eh ee eh

Lets hope Sega gives them the time they need for the next game
Always believe in hope
Sonic Frontiers makes me hopeful for the future of 3D Sonic games
It doesn't for me. Because it's an unfocused mess still repeating many of the same issues of the past decade, while pretending to move on.

That mini amv at the end was incredible!
for the master koko trial... JUST FRICCEN SUPER PSYLOOP ITS REALLY NOT THAT HARD, I BEAT IT ON HARD MODE WITH 140 RINGS LEFT
I also beat it on hard, the only hang up for me was wyvern cause I suck at parries 😭 Was still pretty fun though
@@JP2427 you know good for you, you're a real gamer, it's all these kids whining about running out of rings I have a problem with
they made my boy knuckles great again???????
Hes rougher than the rest of them, the best of them
I still remember how hyped af both of us were in that vc over the final scene good times 😂
peak video tbh
You mentioned that no other fight has you switching Target, but knight also has this mechanic when he has his shield up, but its never communicated
I had no idea. I think that speaks more to how vague the game is about it than anything lol. Thats good to know though, Ill have to try it next time I do that fight

even if the final update wasn't that great, they fixed the final boss so it's a 10/10

This game went through more transformations than Goku
OK SO ABOUT THE CORD, IT PISSED ME OFF TOO. But......the game tells you about that mechanic at the very beginning...I just never used it.
Fuck my sonic phase is coming back after this!!!
