    Love this video, Adrien!! The Balinese people are so warm and friendly! I was there for 3 weeks in 2019 before leaving to teach in Thailand. Like the language lesson! Working on my retirement Evisa that is in queue now due to covid. Should be back there by the end of April!! Yah!!

    The treatment of animals in Bali also upsets me. I have lived there and it was one of the most concerning things for me. For a culture who believes in Karma, I don’t understand how they turn a blind eye to the suffering.

    Thank you for this informative video! Loved it. ❤️ I'm planning to go to Bali myself in the future. But after what you said about single woman being attacted I'm really nervous to go😬 are there any things you can do to make it more save and would you recommend as a single women to travel solo? ✈️🙋‍♀️

    • @megahern8467
      @megahern8467 4 года назад +5

      This is a good question and I can't give an full answer myself since I've just been to Bali as a tourist, and was last there in 2018. But here are some general tips on solo travel as a woman, that I tend to use in whatever developing country I'm visiting: 1) dress respectfully, covering a similar amount of skin as local women (i.e., long skirts and non-skimpy t-shirts are what I usually wear). Communicating respect is always a good way to start. :) It also makes you look less like a basic tourist. 2) avoid drawing attention to yourself with flashy jewelry or technology (e.g., iPad or big camera). I wear simple jewelry, a plain silver band in place of my wedding rings, and I have this super old Kindle that I love for reading in cafes -- it's indestructible and the batteries last forever. 3) basic safe habits, like using registered taxis or Grabs rather than hopping in whatever unmarked car pulls over; and for me I usually plan on staying in after dark in most places I'm traveling alone unless I know them to be safe. 4) this is specific but super helpful for swimming: online you can find a small fanny-pack dry bag that can fit your phone/keys/wallet, and you can wear it while you go for a swim at the beach! not high fashion haha but a handy solution for swimming alone. :) 5) If you're concerned about safety where you're staying you can also buy a device (Google "travel door lock") that you put in the door of your room once you're inside, to ensure no one can unlock the door from outside. Good luck!

      @@primemarketing7218 I lived there for 2 years. Crime against women is a huge problem don't underestimate it. . Even older women are not exempt. Beware don't walk alone at night, never leave a drink unattended. Always carry a small shoulder bag across your shoulder under clothing if possible. Never take rides from motorbikes unless they are certified. Take a photo of grab and taxi drivers. The rest is OK. Oh yeah watch our for street dogs.

    The bad : Pollution, intense traffic jam, very dangerous road driving, dirty ocean, extremly dirty beaches from december to march, very high tourist pressure, very loud at any time (Party Music bass, dog, chicken, motorbike, building construction, ceremony...), overcrowded, disease due to dirty water, became expensive, too many expats, some dangerous people, 2/3 of the times overcast, high humidity, poor food hygiene in some hotels and restaurants, no real serious hospital. The good : Very friendly local, top quality waves, warm ocean, nice beaches, clear water during the dry season, nice party, tip-top villa, restaurants and bars, good shopping for women's with many affordable local brands.

Maybe there are some other terms how foreigners are called there, depend on their purpose of staying, but never I heard someone call "expatriate workers"...

  • @walakin5593

    Hi. I usually like your videos as I tend to find them pretty informative. However, I find that the cons you're complaining about are clearly avoidable. You complain about natural things such as the humidity, well then perhaps you should go for a different country. Complaining about the way people take care of their trash, perhaps you should try and live in a more developed country. Complaining about traffic, maybe you should go to somewhere less crowded. Complaining about the tourists...... that's the cherry on top. what are you? It's crazy the ease with which foreigners tempt to appropriate themselves with places they don't belong in and follow up with complaints. Sis, if you don't feel comfortable with the way things are done, stay home or go where you belong.

      He isn’t complaining but explaining and there’s a difference. He makes the videos for educational purposes to help those who are curious and perhaps interested in doing the same. I like his balanced approach and I’m interested in the truth, not a sanitised version of reality. It’s also his perspective on reality and he’s entitled to share it and I plus others are more than happy to hear his point of view and to also be educated.

      There's always room for improvement. The rubbish problem in Bali is devistating and needs addressing. Not just for tourists which they rely on but for their own health.
