I play on Riplomacy a lot and the meta is armored units over everything. I try calling out the different abilities and stuff the different units get but all you can hear is "They have more tanks! Pick them! Pick them!"
Support and Logistics divisions wreck armor, and light infantry can just ignore them and cap out. If you pick armor, 30-50% of your team is going to be driving around in ticket piñata’s and not playing the objectives. Counter that with multiple FOBs per radio for easy objective defense, and pop up a TOW FOB or two with good sight lines to start burning their tickets. They can shoot your TOWs all day long and you lose maybe one ticket and some build… every tank you kill is 15 tickets. It’s a war of attrition that’s very easy to win. Light Infantry can just largely ignore the armor and concentrate on taking and holding objectives. If tanks push in to try to support… well we all know what happens to tanks that push into enemy infantry. Not to say you can’t win with an armor division - especially if the enemy is stupid enough to choose mechanized or airborne, but they’re hard countered by the support / logistics division and they burn tickets ridiculously quickly. Fastest loss I’ve ever seen was a team choosing British armor on Fallujah against insurgents. Brits ran out of tickets to dead vehicles in less than 20 minutes.
@@lairdperkins Exactly this. People just want to W and shoot and not think how to play their own sub-faction or how to counter the opponent's. You have to play in different way if you have different vehicles. Not to say that there aren't some minor balances tweaks that can be done - I think air assault is a bit weak rn - but they are not so unbalanced as people think
No offense, but that genuinely sounds like a skill issue for most players. Light infantry, while it will have a rough time, can absolutely grind an armored push to a halt. Mines, HATs, LATs, and knowing how to cut off routes is essential to beating armor. That, and speed. Armored units don't get normal logis, but heavy, slow ones. Harder to kill, but also less effective in covering ground (ie, dropping off supplies across the map). Hell, I've had a lot of fun lately, blasting vics as light inf. Especially as Militia, now that they have the Kornet techie.
A big part of the reason people are so sporadic about choosing factions is there isn't enough information on the voting screen, you have to click the question mark to see the details, and with a 30 second voting window, you can't read all the information let alone comprehend it before the vote is completed. I'd like to see them change the voting screen to have a small flag, a list of vehicles, and icons for special features of the faction (such as double HABs or TOWs, intel, etc) and eliminate the need to drill down into the details entirely. Some servers have locked the voting down to only allow voting for combined arms factions because of the drastic imbalance caused by people voting for a particular country rather than paying attention to any of the important details.
I feel like your first point will be less of an issue as time goes on and people get more familiar with each faction's units. As of now, I almost always end up voting light inf for militia and insurgents. Who needs a weak tank that's easy to spot and kill, when I can zoom around in a Kornet techie and plink away at Abrams and T-72s.
Don’t think we missed the war crime committed in the B-Roll Honcho! Anyways, this is a very good video that I think OWI should promote. I know someone is making a unit-by-unit video, but I think this is much better for the general player base to watch and implement quickly.

Those tracked logis are such a handicap I’m surprised Honcho didn’t mention it. In fact, it’s enough of a detriment that if you don’t have good comms in command chat you will suffer at the start. What, you are not doing an Sphere Update video? What are you and OWI hiding from us.
🎱
is this game enjoyable without milsim larp cringe? dont feel like listening to 15yo yelling brevity into their cheap mics. guess my question is can this be played like bf with the option to enjoy some casual mic play? how is the politics in this game? can you enjoy playing the "bad" guys or are people obnoxious about it like in hell let loose. just looking for a fun game since getting bored of bf1. played a lot of hell let lose so getting one shotted is fine
Yes, Squad is far more casual than people male out.
Head on over to my Server - Dead on Dismount. Loads of easy going people in there 👍
cool thanks for the quick reply bro
just had a look on steamdb. why is no one playing squad 44? seems like a good deal to get the bundle rn but if noone is playing then probably not lel
Squad 44 used to be Post Scriptum which was dead (due to previous CEO of Dev team)
OWI acquired it fully end of last year and are in the process of ressurecting it
Just stay away
this game fell off harder than kobe's helicopter
