Hey everyone, thanks for checking out this video! Weather you're a player already, or someone who just likes when I talk about new worlds, I hope you enjoyed this early breakdown of The Forever Winter. Please let me know if you'd like to see more from the game. There's SO much to talk about here, (though if I'm going to talk about it again, I'll need to invest in a better graphics card
I have to disagree with your assessment of the Europan campaign being the bastion of heroism- if it was not clear enough from the literal tank covered in corpses, they are just as inhumane as their enemies. I would hope that this game does not make a clear distinction between one side being right or wrong, that in line with the anti-war themes of the game they maintain the concept of war being evil and all who fight it being twisted by it. Demonizing one side while aggrandizing the other would run counter to that
Theory on the cow balloons; Live rations being delivered as reward to units deployed to the front as reward for achieving objectives. Its the only way anyone ever gets any fresh meat on the battlefield.
I honestly wanna see more eruopan air units like CAS aircraft and interceptors like apaches and raptor jets and some ground units like a duel cannon Abrams being a mech killer
You can see an abandoned Abrams in Scrapyard Nexus directly near the spawnpoint. I guess lore-wise, Europans abandoned Abrams in favor of Merkava since it's cheaper to produce and they have very high fatality rate anyway so something that is more cost-effective is needed.
Minor correction: the HINDs are Euruskan, not Eurasian, though it's not a big difference given the alliance. The Eurasian 'officers' are actually Assaulters - elite borgs designed and tasked with covert ops and heavy assaults, as evidenced by a quest the Europans give for Scorched Enclave. So far, Eurasia is devoid of actual officers.
Thank you! I have a pretty poor graphics card for this type of game so apologies that it's on pretty low settings. I'm planning to upgrade before the end of the year and if we do more of these, the footage ought to be a bit cleaner 😎
Never seen this channel and the video was recommended after watching TFW videos, already seen all of the lore videos and this one got me switching from lurker to typer less than 20 seconds in because it’s absolute fucking cinema. (Sending this after watching the whole intro, now to watch the rest - the assumption was correct, liked and subscribed, sharing it via playlist asap)
I realy liked your video and thank you for showing all the in-game characters in slomo and good lighting, it's almost impossible to see all the details in the normal gameplay videos.
I'm surprised Eurasia doesn't have standard enlisted Rank-and-File Rifle Infantry Units besides its Cyborgs. The Cyborgs are sent to the front as cannon fodder, while the main Eurasian Infantry is in the back.
It's because FunDog lead with the Lore first that got me playing. Unfortunately, I ended up returning the game, it felt very unfinished. I would hope to purchase and replay it once an adequate story mode is provided. There is too much potential for this World to squander that.😢
I agree. It is just early access, so here's hoping it continues to improve. It's been a bit rough around the edges for me, too, as someone with a relatively middle of the road PC.
Makes me wonder if they will make innards defense if you become too much of a nuisance for a faction. Of course they would probably make it tunnel combat to put the fear of tight and crushing spaces into you but it be cool
So the impression I get is that: Europa is the most conventional out of all the factions. Eurasia pretty much dips into the fucking "Hyper futuristic." style. And euruska just seems to be mostly jury rigged pieces of equipment.
I wonder if the Merkava 'body tank' is a hyperbolic commentary on the well-documented cases of IDF soldiers strapping wounded or dead Palestinians to the hood of their vehicles. It was a sickening sight and likely served a similar purpose (i.e. terrorize the population and the enemy). And the Merkava IV is the IDF's current main battle tank, after all.
i really hope armour and weapons are scavengeable, it'd be cool to make a custom look for my scav. if it's just finding water and going back and forth from the hq
I wanna help you out because I play the hell out of this game and want more people to dig into the lore and teach us all the craziness… in the start of your video, if you have a battalion of dudes ahead of you…. You’re pretty fucked because that’s roughly a 1,000 guys blocking your progress out of the pipes on mausoleum. Also curious about how we learn about the Eurasia-Euruska alliance. I thought it was a genuine three way. Lots of good stuff here, keep it up!
The Eurasia Euruska alliance it talked about within Riloe's video a bit more heavily, but one way it's indicated is that by killing a Euruskan or Eurasian, respectively, we lose rep with both clans.
I always dislike anti war media because we are far too comfortable in the modern west to even be able to say "end all war" as if such a thing is even possible. you cannot stop war, you cannot wish it away. we have to start from the framework that humanity is inherently flawed in some ways and that conflict somewhere somehow will always happen, and work from that assumption to make any meaningful progress for humanity.
It's kinda strange for Europa to uses merkava tanks, it's an Israeli tank, and Israel should be part of euruska. If deves didn't want to go with the standard abrams, there are still plenty more appropriate tanks to choose from.
It's worth noting that my graphics capability probably SERIOUSLY downplay how great this game could look with optimal equipment. I'm running it on some of the lowest settings.
@@everberon Oh no no I wasn't saying graphics; I meant literally the animations. The part toward the start where the T-100s --oops, I mean cyborgs-- rush those troops; both factions move so awkwardly, not with the machine precision of cyborgs OR the natural organic gait of humans. And the larger units which are ten times the size of a person pivot SO fast for their size; they're clearly just using the exact same movement as regular-sized units. And it "feels" like there's no weight or presence to the rig on the player character's back, it may as well be affixed directly to their spine with how it moves relative to them.
@@oxymoron02 That's early beta for you, weapon mods haven't been fully implemented numbers-wise for reference, it's got a long way to go but they literally threw it on the stores cause people were metaphorically tearing down the door to play it. It great to have another lore video for this game. There not many of them beside that 1 dude basically hook everyone with the game lore and story

On one of the maps there are massive piles of dead bodies, stacked to process them into canned food, there's fresh meat everywhere 😮
@@kittycatcat6962During Night Shifts, the Mother Courage Units are piling up bodies for Cyborg production. Not so fresh meat 😊
As a 40k fan, I vibe with this universe alot.
Yes, this is basically the unending war in the Age of Strife.
This game deserves more attention, it's such a work of art.
I definitely agree.
It’s heavily influenced by the art of Zdzisław Beksiński. Look up that artist and you’ll see a ton of paintings that look like this game.
To be honest a lot of the biggest youtubers and streamers have covered it
sucks that ppl dogged on it so hard. complaining about a game mechanic (need for water) which really isn’t as big of a deal as ppl make it out to be.
Nah it's lame
God, I love the design of the Mother Courage units.
I wonder what Eurasia's reasoning it to be that way.
One of my biggest questions is why they're so massive lol
@@everberon To collect more corpses of courses.
I'm more curious about why they made them look the way they do.
I'm guessing their appearance is for morale purposes.

The Hind is Eurasian if you ID it. Furthermore it is painted with Japanese characters.
This is a masterclass in footage capture. So much detail of these units revealed.

Also, the world lost all but black, white, orange, and red colors plus how those mix.
Breaking Bad filter moment
I'm getting heavy "Metal Gear" vibe
Heavy Metal Gear if you will 🤟
More like 1984
More like WH40k

REALLY well done. Thank you. This game looks beautiful and grim and I’m hoping it’ll come to a console soon.
Great video!
Thank you! Yes, here's hoping more people get to experience it!
Would love a cannon map to come out. I need to know if my beloved Croatia is with Europa or Euraska.
Also, what about Australia?? We've yet to hear their fate.

I never noticed it until now but one of Masked Man's alternate outfits features a helmet very similar to the Euruskan Medium Mech's head.

Biting Riloe's style, are we?
12:01 that has to be the dumbest helmet design I've ever seen in my life.
"For our elite solders, lets heavily armor everything, but the brain."
Completely ineffective lol
Tbf it does look like the helmet has battle damage imo.
