  • Does your old mechanical keyboard or Model M no longer work on your new PC that lacks PS/2 ports? With this adapter, that's not a problem whatsoever. This adapter allows you to use that old PS/2 Model M or other mechanical keyboard on your new desktop, laptop, or Mac.
The adapter: amzn.to/2RzYwvx (I get paid with this link thx)

As a guy who started out using the old IBM 3270 steel keyboards and later used PS/2 keyboards like this cannot tell you how I miss those buckling spring keyboards!

WOOOOOOOW Amazing information... I never would have thought of getting a converter! What a smart guy.

Actually the video is useful. I have an IBM model M and one of those keyboard and mouse cables. For my model M it works quite well. Recently I acquired an old logo Dell bigfoot with alps black (pine) switches. It's very nice but would not work with my cable at all. I might have thought WOOOOOOOOOW there's something wrong with the keyboard. However I tried it directly on a machine which had ps2 connectors...and the keyboard worked just fine. The original posters observation that all adapters are not created equal is useful.

Smart but deceptive... click the link in his description which he gets paid from, and it leads to a Y cable that simply doesn't work.

Well done.PS/2 is 5V, GND, CLK and DATA but USB is 5V, GND, D+, D- which is a different protocol and would NEVER work just splicing wires.

This is actually good information. Idk why everyone disliked it. I’ve seen people splicing keyboard wires to usb so it’s nice that stuff like this exist.

I need this type of converter, but the keyboard's own "clock face" plug is notably larger than the one you plugged into the adaptor, in the video. Given that it's a "clock face" plug, but larger than that on your keyboard, what is the name of that larger circular plug? I can't find an adaptor, anywhere, for the larger keyboard plug, and it's a trifle annoying, because I have lots of old keyboards in perfect condition, like they've not even been bought, yet, and I'd like to get some life out of them.

I don't need to worry about having to turn off my computer to unplug the keyboard when I use this right? Because my PC has a ps/2 port, and it works fine, but I need to turn off my computer every time I want to change my keyboards.

@@cocotower I commented before clicking on the link, yes. It is strange that the link goes to a different adapter, especially when he specifically says that the kind that connect both mouse and keyboard don't work very well.

I am using a converter, exactly the same you have, and it literally does not work... I have enabled the ps/2 on BIOS, enabled the ps/2 port in my Registry Editor. Restarted my PC with the keyboard plugged in. Doesn't work.

    Hi
Thanks for the excellent video. In your demonstration at 0:49Seconds you display a Brand USB adapter do you have details where you have purchased it? There has been mention of the dual keyboard and mouse ps2 adapter not working well. But your link which you have advertised goes to such a device on Amazon. Could you help me please as I clicked on the link as suggested and found this product SANOXY PS2 Keyboard to USB Adapter . Would you recommend it still? Otherwise the sourced shopkeeper information would be helpful.
