6/30/24 PM Sunday UPDATE: Beryl now a CAT 4 landfall, a record early major hurricane with high impacts for my Caribbean island friends. Let's look at new landfall locations and where it goes long term. Plus "Chris" could form into a hurricane right after Beryl.

I'm in Victoria, Texas -- half way between Houston and Corpus Cristi -- and beginning to get worried about this monster. My first hurricane was Audrey way back in the fifties. No such thing as a good hurricane. The only thing in their favor is that, unlike a tornado, hurricanes can't sneak up on you and kill you by surprise.

While I don't want anyone to be hit, I saw where it could hit Louisiana. I don't live there, but I had family who lived there all their lives who lost their home, everything. I pray it does not hit New Orleans; they have not recovered from Katrina yet. There are people living in tiny trailers, damage unlivable buildings that still haven't been able to be torn down. Lots of problems.
Who said anything about new Orleans Louisiana I listened good and no one said anything about new Orleans getting these hurricanes.

Forget all that religious stuff, I pray to my OC Duration hurricane roof, PGT hurricane windows, Generac whole home generator, and LAS storm shutters.
Praying for the islands. Watching from Houston TX suburbs. Wherever this thing goes, I think it is a strong signal to definitely prepare in advance for this storm and for the rest of the hurricane season. Do not be caught off guard. This season means business

I have some questions I thought you might-could help me with, if you'd be so kind:
If the oceans are currently showing temperatures expected in August, are we more likely to see higher than ever temperatures come August, or will temperatures trend towards staying where they are because of the cooling effect of La Nina?
I've been watching NOAA tropics for many years, however this year it feels like I'm seeing things slightly differently. The first few weeks of June had a standing percentage of development blotch in the bay of Campeche, usually these areas develope and either produce a storm or dissipate, however this year, a few times now after a storm developes, the percentage blob remains, and furthermore were there for much longer than expected prior to storm development, especially in the bay of Campeche. Are you also seeing this as anomalous, and if so, does this have to do more with the unprecedented place we are in our tropics this year, or is there a new understanding or type of modeling leading to such a thing?

It's a high anxiety situation for those in this absolute monsters path. Just a few reminders of supplies that should be helpful.
Gasoline for vehicles and generators, flashlights and headlamps, batteries, fuel for cooking , canned goods etc... I know there's a ton more things but this is all things I wished I had more of when my home town got rocked by a hurricane and lost power for 8 days. God Bless !

All this may be somewhat helpful BUT these are MAN MADE MAN AUGMENTED they can STEER these where they want lookout Texas and LA on the second one as well.
Many years back I watched a supposed documentary on TV ( it could all have been BS of course ) about a large array of powerful microwave dishes in Alaska. This facility was being used in an experiment of heating the upper atmosphere with the goal of altering upper level jet stream winds, and by doing so influencing the path of storm systems. As I said the documentary could well have been in the genre of “Hunting for Bigfoot” type thing, but it sounded plausible.

Though the name may look strange to American eyes, it's simple to pronounce: BER-uhl. It rhymes with the more common Cheryl.
Yeah so, that more northern trajectory (of the 3 in the thumbnail) that makes landfall somewhere close to N.O. is indeed not what the country needs right now. I realize no one does. Stay safe and spread the word everyone.
