- This is my Aspen Crochet Shrug, an easy even for beginners shrug , it looks so much as a dardigan although it is a simple rectangle. Watch the video and you will do this beautiful garment to wear all fall and winter long.

Try it , it is easy enough , I beleive if you are a beginner you will need to take it slow to the ribbing pattern, but I give the exact number of dc worked in sleeves and in main pattern you will work as many sts as in body so....no problem , go on!! regards Mary!
Can you make this in worsted weight yarn using the same numbers. I can't find pattern to print.

How many do I have to chain for a xx-large?
Does anyone know how many rows the small size takes? I've started making this but I'm sure the tutorial doesn't tell state how many rows.
To make it even faster for me I machine knitted a rectangle on 9mm or bulky machine needles then leisurely completed the edging with a 11 millimeter hook but you can choose what works for your design/gage.

Para el ancho sí, haces esto exactamente, abres las manos y mides de una mano a otra y este es tu ancho, es decir, lo que tu cadena inicial debe medir. Para la longitud es fácil porque haces crochet todo lo que quieras, detente, pruébalo y continúa o deja de hacer crochet, saludos Mary

Hi Marina , thank you! You have to make a width 40"(102cm) = this is your foundation chain , but because its not safe to measure the chain its better to measure when the first row is finished. Then wor for as many rows to obtain a length 36,2" (92cm), happy crocheting!

Hi Bev! Yes I beleive you could make it in a finer yarn, V stitch is a nice stitch , of course you will have to use a smaller hook so to make the right size make a sample and follow the gauge to make a shrug in the measurements you want! happy crocheting! regards Mary

Hi! Well since you want to use a much lighter yarn you should make a swatch and crochet in pattern several rows and measure it so you will figure out what to do. This is Beautiful! 😍I wanted to make a pretty vest, size Large for a family member and I followed another ladys tutorial and it was fine at the start but got confusing in the middle. Hi Rayna, thank you so much! well I am not sure about the texture you will get using a thinner yarn and hook. I but its not necessary to get my Aspens texture , it sounds ok to me... your combination of yarn and hook , the important thing is the fit and to achieve this you should make a shrug at the right measurements . Make a sample and according to your gauge make your shrug in the desired size. If you want a special size tell me and I will give you the measurements of Aspen shrug. @@monnamahdy1698 hi, for sleeves in this shrug I only added a 2" ribbing border so its after adding this border whinh is not a long normal sleeve. if you want you can add first some rows of Vsts pattern and then add the border.

How do you know how big to make the square at the beginning? What do you need to measure?
Hi Wyvern! the foundation chain is the width of the rectangle , in this size I chained 88 chains and with my yarn and hook I had 36.2" (92cm) width . At the end of crocheting when shrug is folded in half lengthwise and seamed in both sides, this dimension is half the total opening of the shrug. To decide what size you should make yours, open your arms and measure from elbow to elbow and a little bit more to the hands , this is about 85-90 cm so this is the beginning of the square , I mean the foundation chain! happy crocheting, ask me again if you need more help!
Merry Mary Stories is the width of the square supposed to be your chest measurement and the height from neck to back? Is that how you make it shorter or longer? :) Thanjs in advance! I started it last night with your pattern I think it’s lovely in teal green.
Hi Wyvern! no the width is not the height from neck to back, this is the length of the square. The width is from arm to arm , that is how wide , how loose is the shrug when we wear it. It is a little bit confusing, I know, cause when we wear it it looks like the width after sewing the sides....and becomes the total opening of the shrug, it looks like it is the length but basically it is the chest plus the hands...I hope I made it clear!
