Also notice that his in-ears had failed at the beginning of the song. He took the right one out, looked offstage and tapped it then repeated that at least once during the song. So this beautiful song was all him with no input from his in ear headphones. Amazing!
His tears were from his overwhelming happiness at being able to sing one of his countries folk songs to such a large crowd in his home country. He had stated that this was a dream of his.

I think this was Dimash’s first concert after the China competition. When he’s shaking his head it’s because he was really feeling it, he’s blown away by his success, his lifelong dream coming true. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some tears there too. He was feeling very humble and grateful. A very special moment.

He did this in New York and it was absolutely stunning. It was the highlight of the evening because it meant so much to him to hear a very multi cultural crowd in New York signing in Kazakh which is a dream he has always had. He wants so much to share his culture with the world. There is a fan cam out there that is so close up and personal that you can in fact see tears in his eyes and much like this performance, he never fails to show his gratitude and thinks nothing of bowing to the crowd and I suspect giving thanks to God at the same time which is something else he never fails to do. He is unique and he is very special. Qairan Elim is another song in his native language that you might really like.

We think it was tears mixed with sweat. This was his first major solo concert in his home country and right at the beginning of the song his ear monitors failed.
Nowadays he's used to that happening and we'll frequently see a technician run on stage to fix them while he's still singing but you can see him look towards the side of the stage and point to his ear monitors but no one came out to rescue him.

He was crying as it was one of his childhood dreams just came true! What a feeling that must have been. I love rock and metal too, but Dimash is another category on his own. Although if you want to hear a rock/metal song of Dimash's, i would check out Durdaraz. The live version from Almaty or the digital show is great. It's not a Dimash original, but it is a Kazakh song.
I do think Dimash did shed a tear there, not just sweat. He got very emotional. He also sang SOS at that concert too.

Good to see you step away from SOS {great as it is! } to discover more of Dimash's traditional music. This was the first HUGE concert Dimash performed at - following his profile blowing up internationally after his performances on the Chinese Singer competition that same year. { The people in the front, waving all the neon signs are his Chinese Fans, who followed him this concert. Kazakhstan was starting to get a sense of just how huge a star he was becoming, and he had been officially appointed a Cultural Ambassador. You can find many traditional songs /video clips on his site and the showcasing of his beautiful country in these is spectacular.
Here, it looks like they got as many local Kobyz players together as they could! Dimash has said most little Kazakh boys are expected to learn this traditional instrument.
He WAS sweating - also crying. This was a hugely emotional event and honour for Dimash to perform in front of his 'own crowd', and particularly this song which is sort of an informal national anthem for Kazakhstan.
The story it tells is of a revered Kazakh Poet, { Magzhan Zhumabayev } who was imprisoned by the Soviets for his political activities. The love story between him and his wife { Daididau) was legendary. While she was travelling ceaselessly to meet with various officials to try to secure his release, his jailers told him she had abandoned him and had found another. He was executed not knowing the truth.

  • @suedouglas5455

No, he was crying as well as sweating! He was emotional, because this was his first solo concert (3 3/4 hours) that his country put on for him after his success in China and because all his fans (dears) had flown into his country (40,000) for the concert and they all knew the words to this song. It was Dimash’s dream to sing one of his country’s traditional folk songs to an international audience.

Daididau is about the composition of Magzhan Zhumabayev, an exponent of Kazakh literature. When in 1928 he was sent to prison, and later sent to camps in North Karelia, Russia, Zuleikha his wife followed him, no matter where he was taken, she always found him and came to see him everywhere. She went to great lengths to get him released from prison in 1936, even asking the famous writer Maxim Gorky for help. During his prison term, Zhumabayev received the lying news that his wife had abandoned him, so Daididau was written as a lament for the lost love and suffering of the nation. But contrary to what he thought, outside his wife worked hard for his freedom and in 1934 his sentence was reduced and he returned to his home. Unfortunately, Magjan Jumabay was detained again in 1938 and executed on the 19th March of the same year.
Dimash is a very proud Kazakh and this song is so special to him because is a traditional song and he dreamt about singing it before a large audience to show his culture and his country to the world. He was almost in tears. The instrumentation is beautiful, the dombra is the instrument he plays in the intro., every Kazakh has one in his home and Dimash’s grandfather was a master of dombra. Dimash loves traditional music and incorporates Kazakh instruments in many songs such as Samaltau version for the Tokio Jazz Festival ruclips.net/video/UvMRkiYu3Js/видео.html

DIMASH IS AN ARISTOCRAT, genealogy is extremely important in his culture and country, the direct descendent of a14th century noble family of The Khanate of the Junior Zhuz. He is not wearing a costume, raised from birth to become the ceremonial head of his family at 18, he received the title in ceremony and all the many duties and responsibilities to his people, privately and publicly which he performs with grace and dignity.

👉 This is Dimash's big first solo concert in Astana called ‘Bastau/ Beginning, shortly after the show 'The Singer 2017'. This concert was given to him by his hometown as a welcome home and as a thank you for his huge success in China. 30. 000 people from all over the world took part.
In preparation for the concert, Dimash worked so hard that he lost a lot of weight. His family was very concerned.... but the concert was great. It blows your mind! (Only via video) I had to wait a few long years before I could see Dimash live in Prague (2022).
    * whole concert - ruclips.net/video/4x-DIU41RGM/видео.html
👉 ADAI is popular in Kazakhstan and is composed by one of the greatest dombra players, the Kazakh folk musician and composer Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly (1823-1896).
👉 DAIDIDAU is a poem written in prison by Maghzhan Zhumabayev.
Thanks to the great performance of Dimash Kudaibergen in 2017 (The Singer). Daididau is now the most famous Kazakh song in the world. (Dimash's stage costume is based on the traditional Kazakh coat, called Shapan.)
The true story: The poet Maghzhan Zhumabayev was in prison in Stalingrad (now Petersburg/Russia) and had just been informed that his wife had left him. This song was his answer. He named his wife Daididau (it could be derived from 'дедім айдай ау' - the moon-like one.) It was false information, a way to torture him and others arrested for conspiracy. Also through Gorky's (a famous Russian writer) intercession, Zhumabayev was released. He saw his wife again, but only for a short time. He was executed by the Stalin regime in 1938.
The widow secretly collected all his poems. (They were banned until 1989).
This song was first used in the Kazakh-Soviet film 'Shanyrak' directed by Edige Bolysbayev and thus became known and very important for the Kazakh people.
Here a video by Gloria Wu with the story behind this song - ruclips.net/video/tOs7rkn36L0/видео.html

Imagine having 30,000 fans at your first solo concert at home, after becoming a star in another country. As you can see, Dimash was emotionally struggling at the end of the song, and there were likely some tears mixed with the sweat. He was also probably sweating because his ear piece failed from the beginning (you can see him trying to signal his team)! The Adai is the opening piece played on the Kazakh national instrument, the dombra, which is found in most every home. Please activate your subtitles in settings; many of Dimash's songs, including this tragic folk piece, have very meaningful lyrics. Thank you for your reactions and for sharing with your friends and colleagues!

This song is very dear and special for Dimash. Once he participated in a competition and in the second round he wanted to sing Daididau. The organizers said he should sing another song instead but he insisted: „either I sing this song or I quit“. Well he sang Daididau. For sure in this performance he was sweating a lot but he also shed some tears. He was able to present this traditional song from his culture, so dear to him, to an international audience.

If you enjoy Dimash’s folk songs, he has several. Durduraz from the Almatey concert, is given a rock vibe. Dimash owns the stage, Kieli Meken, from the digital show during the pandemic, is another folk rock song. Then Samaltau. From the Tokyo jazz festival or from the digital show, are both traditional. They are all amazing. Then Quiran Elim is an mv about his homeland. Dimash co directs it too. Amanat is like a prayer to his homeland. From the digital show again. No high notes or acrobatic runs, but simply exquisite. quiragym-ai, a song written by Dimash’s beloved college mentor, who died of covid. Dimash and the pianist wanted to pay their respects. As they were both his students. Simply heartbreaking. Empty theatre, candles on chairs, just beautiful.

and he sung it on stage - where his ear monitors failed him. This is a beautifully sad song or lies and separation. This husband and wife, he gets put in prison because of what he writes. Then he gets letters from his wife saying its all over, not realising these are lies from the prison. He is in for around 10 years, when he gets out they find out what has been done to them. With 6 months, they snatch and imprison him again, but this time to executed him.
Dimash sings this sorrowful song beautifully.

This performance was from his incredible solo concert Bastau in Kazakhstan in 2017. His in ears packed up as soon as he started singing but it never affects his vocals when that happens and it's just part of live performing. He did get quite emotional at the end, he was just so proud to sing this particular song for his first gigantic concert in his home country. In case you are interested in the history of this song. This song is very sad and it tells about a very dark time in the history of Kazakhstan, not so long ago. To understand the song, I always advise to take the link from Gloria Wu’s channel as it shows the background story and also has English subtitles.
The Kazakh poet and writer Magzhan Zumabayev was sentenced by the Russian regime to 10 years in prison for conspiracy in 1929 and imprisoned. While in cusody there, he was falsely told that his wife had left him. If I am correctly informed he is said to have written the lines of the song in prison (as a letter to his wife), probably to express his deep sadness and despair over is.
Although he was released in 1934, he was arrested again a few months later and was executed 1937.
The lyrics of this song are so sad I could cry every time I hear it. It never leaves me unmoved. Even after hearing it so many times.
I was at his concert in Düsseldorf and he sang this song with us Dears there too. This song is one he always performs in his concerts, plays the Dombra (a Kazakh folk instrument), and asks his Dears to sing along with him in his Kazakh language (he looks like a Kazakh Prince with his traditional clothing). Every Dear knows many of his lyrics in Kazakh and loves to sing his songs with him at his concerts.
I find it incredibly impressive and wonderful how a single man manages to bring together so many people from meanwhile 150 different countries and continents with so many different views in politics or religion, with so many different languages in a common group and to celebrate peacefully together and to sing in his own language. You always can see how proud he is of his country and how happy and moved he is when the audience sings with him in his concerts🥰.
This concert was his first solo concert after performing in The Singer competition in 2017. He has invited about 100 dombra players to this concert, who together with him perform a short instrumental, Adai, before Daididau. That's very impressive. He always gets emotional with this song.
    Greetings from Germany❤️

The lyrics are very important and it's a shame you didn't really know what this song is about. But besides that... I always love your positive attitude and reactions to Dimash. I first saw this video five years ago and it has remained in my top five all that time!

    Hello again Sir!
Thank you for reacting to Dimash! Love him. Dimash always tries to promote Kazak music and instruments. What you here is the Dombra. Dimash himself plays multiple instruments!

Hey All! Quick question... I just recorded a reaction to another Dimash track and I said the song was performed in "Kazakstani." I said that because I had read in the comments here that Kazakhstani is the language Daididau is performed in. However, when googling (after my reaction) I think the language is Kazakh and not Kazakhstani? I'm just hoping someone can clarify for me so that going forward I'm correct. Thank you!!!!

Did you notice he had problems with his in-ears at the very beginning and sang the whole song without them?

Keep in mind that it was a few days since he had an operation on the apedicitis in this concert!

I love this performance, it is so heartfelt and emotional, happy you liked it too! There are many gems on this Bastau concert! Try Daybreak for example, also on a sad and emotional side: ruclips.net/video/2kZTJjLoD64/видео.html (from Dimash channel) or ruclips.net/video/aZdkQxnBCwo/видео.html (I think this one might avoid copyright). On the happier side is a Jasmine (there are multiple versions, my favorite is a duet with Wu Tong, but now I only found a fancam, quality is not perfect but still fun, it is a famous traditional song in ChinaCeline Dion sang it too), and Leyla from D-dynasty concert where Di is in a black and white jacket, his is so happy and playful there, ruclips.net/video/KBai9YrlXJs/видео.html.

    DAIDIDAU
    DIVINE… oops I was typing DIMASH ✨🤍✨
    “DIVINE”
1: to discover by intuition or
    insight : INFER // divine
    the truth
    2: to perceive intuitively
    Divinity
1: the quality or state of being “DIVINE”
2: a being having superhuman powers and control over a particular part of life or the world
    🤔💭 I may not be wrong 😅
