I am not musically inclined in any way but you described exactly how it was for me years ago when I first heard Dimash. It was the first time I cried whilst watching someone sing. SOS was my first Dimash song as well. I couldn't listen to it straight through because the song kept bringing me to tears so I was grateful to be able to pause the song as I listened. I no longer sob when I listen to Dimash and can listen to his whole songs through without losing composure although the tears still fall. I love Dimash.

You can pitch correct vibrato notes, if you do it wisly it's not noticable, but if you use autotune, that shift every single pitch in all it's lenght to the deadcenter of the pitch, yes it's not possible

What makes this particular Dimash Kudaibergen SOS reaction so interesting to the western world are all the facial expressions and looks of awe by a Chinese audience. Remember if you’re not from a higher influential Chinese societal family the likely of being able to attend these talent shows were slim to none. Those who could afford to be in the audience are fashionably dressed and are from a higher societal class of Chinese families. And this was flauntly obvious for the whole world to see. With that said young Dimash was about 21 years old and his appearance resemble a lot like those prosecution of Uyghurs in China. If you look closely at the audience’s reaction they are in shock that how could someone not of Chinese decent that is 6 feet 3+ inches and with an appearances of being Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyzstan, and other Turkic Muslim be so much of a higher caliber than themselves. And that’s what we were viewing here Dimash Kudaibergen first time appearance and performance seen by the elites of the Chinese entertainment media. The expression of shock and awe is priceless for us to observe, and once they recovered they immediately embraced young Dimash Kudaibergen as one of their own. We were witnessing barriers being torn down between those who thought they were culturally superior and those Turkish Muslim societies displaying a higher cultural form of arts.

It’s my understanding that autotune isn’t allowed in Chinese tv competitions, so we know this is his natural voice. This was his breakthrough performance to a global audience (even though he was already an award-winning singer, having won the Grand Prix at the Slavic Bazaar in 2015).

Dimash did experiment with auto tune when he was at university, there are some early recordings and it may have been a subject they were studying at the time and it is so obvious it's ridiculous.

He says the range is not the most important thing, the emotion is the most important thing. At age 5, it was noticed that Dimash had absolute pitch by his music teacher. Also, when he was not much older, the piano he used to practice at home, had been moved & consequently became a little out of tune, but most people wouldn't have noticed it, but Dimash told his teacher that he didn't like his piano at home because it gave him a headache. At that young age he didn't know that it disturbed him because it needed to be tuned! Absolute pitch at work! Yes, Dimash sings all genres from Opera to pop, rock, jazz, classical, r&b & even raps in some songs. Hi Tim! I'm so glad you've decided to react and analyze Dimash. I hope you consider doing more. You mentioned that you have sung different genres which is great because Dimash has trained in many genres too. I'm sure others will tell you that he has been taking voice and piano lessons since the age of 5. Of course, you know how gently a young singer must be directed so as not to damage him vocal cords. He went to a special musical school (all the way up to high school), received his bachelor's degree in classical (Bel Canto), and another degree in Contemporary Music (jazz, pop) then received a Master's degree in Composition in 2020. He received a recommendation for admission for a Ph.D. in music focusing on the history and evolution of Kazak music (including the tribal/folk music of his country). I know he has studied some of the history and evolution of Kazak music but I'm unsure if he chose to do this on his own. Dimash chose not to take the purely Classical (Bel Canto) style because he wanted to have some freedom in the notes he sang. He calls his genre "NeoClassical". Hopefully, if you continue to review his music, you will hear some influence using traditional instruments from Kazakhstan. People who come to know Dimash appreciate him for his beautiful voice, his respect for others, his humility and desire for a peaceful world. Some people only talk about the high notes he can sing but in his earlier years, singers often competed on shows. You will discover that Dimash sings to serve the song. Hopefully, you will listen to "Sinful Passion".
Thank you for your reaction. We Dears love to watch someone get introduced to Dimash for the first time. He began his musical training at the age of 5 and still trains 3 hours a day. He has a 7+ octave range, has songs in 16 languages, sings in almost all genres, and plays 7 instruments. His catalog is vast and varied, so anything you choose next will be amazing. Dimash was invited to appear on this show because one of the producers saw him perform in another contest. He was expected to last only a couple of shows. Overnight Dimash was a big hit and he won this episode of the show. This was the first time they let a non Chinese person participate in the show. Dimash was the first one to perform, he was the youngest person at age 22, he was the only amateur, and as I said the first non-Chinese person. After this performance, he was ask to remain on the show. Dimash came in second place, a lot of people think he should have been in first place. The other performers really liked him. They called him their “ foreign younger brother”. He still travels to China to perform at different venues. Dimash is not just an ordinary singer. He is a musician who plays several instruments, produces and directs his own music videos. He is the most modest, kind and gentle person you would ever meet. He loves children and has donationed a lot of money to Children’s Hospitals. He also believes in having a vocal coach. Dimash says that if Pavarotti can have one in his 70’s, so can he! His Chinese coach says that Dimash does not sing in falsetto, he’s singing in his natural voice! He also has perfect pitch, they discovered this when he was five years old! I absolutely love that he did the digital live concert I think on 2021. As a comparison both his singing and his pronunciation had improved a lot !!! He keeps learning and improving. He was so young when he participated in this competition. My favourite performance is from this competition. He is so incredibly focused and emotional when he performs, the performance of "Opera 2" was the only performance I've seen where he was actually having fun both with the audience and his fellow competitors. Dimash was 22 years old at this time and this was his first song on The Singer 2017, a contest between Professionals. He was the youngest performer ever on the show and was invited to participate as a wild card. He took the show and came in second only because they had 1st place picked for a long time performer who was getting ready to retire. Dimash performed 13 (some really amazing) songs on the show. Thank you for coming back with a non-truncated version of this remarkable song. For good reason it became Dimash's signature, or as he describes it, his calling card. Fans of Dimash are the lucky beneficiaries of his obsession with constantly learning new things to do with his voice. He's worked hard to extend his lower range over the years, developing a rich and resonant high baritone. It's become so natural for him, that it's no longer shocking to hear an entire song in his high baritone-low tenor. He spent several months living in Los Angeles sharpening his technique in R&B, which he apparently loves. In recent years he's begun to experiment with grit and distortion, and It's possible we'll hear a rock metal vocal from Dimash one day 😂 We might not love absolutely every song/technique/genre he experiments with, but we're always happy to see him have the confidence and courage to try new things. Here Dimash is about 21/22. 1st time away from his family. Already very famous and winner of many prestigious singing competitions from a very young age. He is from Kazakhstan. So the comps he won would hve been in that area of the world ie Russia Belarus etc etc. He was invited to this Chinese competition as a guest. He cud not win as foreigners were not allowed to. They changed that rule the following year. VERY emotional singer- so I agree with u. His life is all about Music. Holds a Masterss degree in Composition. Everything this man sings works for me. He touches my heart and soul with his voice. Im in my 70's and other than Michael Jackson and Elvis, no one has touched my life like he has. I listen to him every day. Would give anything to hear him in person.

He is unreal! The amount of practice/ learning hours he put into mastering his voice is insane ! This is not just GOD's gift, thousands of hours . Well, normally there is no wrong version of Dimash SOS, but when I hear show, it could be The Worlds Best and yes, the Dears, as Dimash calls us and that is why we call ourselves, react sensitively. Not only because they edited all the songs together badly, but also because they treated him very badly at the end when he dropped out of the show because he didn't want to compete against children. They didn't understand. They had lied to him beforehand because he had specifically asked whether children were taking part. The show no longer exists, so it's in the past. Dimash was literally all I listened to for 3 & a half years. NO-ONE else! After altering my reality, he filled my soul with so much, very needed, audible gold. I couldn't get enough of him, watching his everything, every waking minute day in, day out. He reconnected me to my heavenly soul. Then I discovered Ren while scrolling thru shorts, and he too has had a life changing effect on me, but for completely different and opposite reasons. Ren has reconnected me to my human spirit. Opposite here for me, Rens lyrics and subject matter really turns me off him as an artist. I no longer appreciate all the gratuitous bad language in music either since I discovered Dimash. Dimash makes me feel hope, Ren makes me depressed and hopeless.
@debbiemorgan859 That's completely OK, it's (Rens music) not for everyone. But it's a beacon to those who need it. For me they represent two halves of the human spectrum. Dimash being a shiny and perfect example of human capability. While Ren hits with cold hard reality. Life is not one thing or another, but a constantly inconsistent mixture of both. And I no longer want to hide from the ugly truths, and painful injustices life can be. I want to grow and learn from them ,and to count my blessings where I find them. you are still just at the beginning. dimash's rage has changed so much since this very first appearance, it is mind blowing and you need to see much more!
You should keep the other version available, though. This isn’t the very first time you’ve heard him sing, and it’s so much fun to see vocal coaches and singers’ faces as they hear him for the first time ever. Admittedly the version you heard first (if it’s the one I think it is) didn’t give you the full experience, BUT you probably still had some “what the heck” moments that would be fun to see. Note-one reason this version is a favorite is that because this is a vocal competition, there is NO autotune and a lot less engineering overall (little reverb, etc.). It’s a great intro to his voice. Dimash has perfect pitch, so unless his voice is tired or not warmed up enough, he’s generally going to hit notes pretty much spot on and if you hear him slide into a note it’s typically a choice rather than finding the pitch. Also note: he’s accessing those lower notes a lot more easily these days, but it’s the wicked high notes that made him famous so he tends to stay in the rafters. I’m sure others will have filled you in that he trained in the operatic style and was offered a position in the national opera house of Khazakhstan, but chose to do his own thing-I love it when he sings in the classical style, but I get it-if he’d stuck with opera, he’d have been limited to tenor and maybe baritone- this guy could sing the entire Magic Flute by himself. He’s NOT an opera singer because he didn’t choose to train and focus on that kind of singing but there is a duet with Placido Domingo that you’ll want to hear. And yes, you’ more of the classical sound with Olympico. More recently he’s done a couple videos that will let you hear more in the pop/rock/blues styles. You’ve got quite a journey ahead of you. Have some fun!
As for what next, I guess it depends if you want to follow his journey or jump around. You might enjoy his other song from this competition, Opera 2 (Vitas wrote it for himself, and he won’t let Dimash sing it anymore-LOL) . You’ll see Dimash play around with his audience in a light-hearted way that isn’t something he does much. Sinful Passion-great song with a few vocal gymnastics you’ll have fun analyzing, and at the end you’ll see master composer Igor Krutoy, who came out of retirement after the concert to work with Dimash-we have him to thank for Olympico, which is the next stop, along with a bunch of other gorgeous collaborations. And then more recently we see more of Dimash’s own compositions (tho you might want to take a short stop for Unforgettable Day, earlier in his career (it’s also a Dimash composition and you’ll hear the infamous D8). I love this version. There are recordings of him performing this song publicly, live, from the age of 19. Each one is, and continues to be as he moves through his career - different. Personally, I think this one is peak emotion... his bass has become stronger, though.

Although the stage setup and background of the Dimash Digital Show 2021 online concert Dimash put together for his Dears during the quarantine was fantastic. 🤗 The Dears were used to flying around the world to his solo concerts and missed him terribly when quarantine hit and interrupted his Arnau World Tour. He donated $500,000 of the proceeds from the concert to charity. He has a wonderful character that endears him even more to his fans.

A lot of people will recommend going on to a post-competition song Sinful Passion, and that's a great display of Dimash's innovative style combinations, but I urge you to come back to some of these live 'Singer' songs I suggested earlier to enjoy unrestricted video and the energy created between singer and audience, as I listed previously: Opera 2, Adagio, Autumn Strong, Hello, Daybreak, and The Show Must Go On. It's also nice that 'Singer' provides a great live orchestra. As a multi-instrumentalist himself, Dimash works very well with the live orchestra.

The first piece I ever heard Dimash sing was this composition. I understand it’s become a bit of a calling card and signature song for him. This was the song he chose to introduce himself to the chinese audience in competition. He gained 600 million likes overnight apparently and many of us round the world learned about a young Kazakhstan singer, I have followed him every day ever since, attended five overseas concerts and I am 79 year old lady from U.K. he is incredibly talented, yet unassuming, educated, workaholic, loving, respectful patriotic and very much the humanitarian. Oh and tall, dark and handsome, lol.

He opened the eyes of his critical compatriots. Today, Dimash is his country's "cultural ambassador" and a "national treasure" (no official title). He himself is a proud Kazakh and patriot and is passionately committed to peace in the world.
Dimash plays at least 7 instruments, traditional dombra is a must in Kazakh familys. SOS was my first Dimash song as well. I couldn't listen to it straight through because the song kept bringing me to tears so I was grateful to be able to pause the song as I listened. You can pitch correct vibrato notes, if you do it wisly it's not noticable, but if you use autotune, that shift every single pitch in all it's lenght to the deadcenter of the pitch, yes it's not possible

What makes this particular Dimash Kudaibergen SOS reaction so interesting to the western world are all the facial expressions and looks of awe by a Chinese audience. Remember if you’re not from a higher influential Chinese societal family the likely of being able to attend these talent shows were slim to none. Those who could afford to be in the audience are fashionably dressed and are from a higher societal class of Chinese families. And this was flauntly obvious for the whole world to see. With that said young Dimash was about 21 years old and his appearance resemble a lot like those prosecution of Uyghurs in China. If you look closely at the audience’s reaction they are in shock that how could someone not of Chinese decent that is 6 feet 3+ inches and with an appearances of being Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Kyrgyzstan, and other Turkic Muslim be so much of a higher caliber than themselves. And that’s what we were viewing here Dimash Kudaibergen first time appearance and performance seen by the elites of the Chinese entertainment media. The expression of shock and awe is priceless for us to observe, and once they recovered they immediately embraced young Dimash Kudaibergen as one of their own. We were witnessing barriers being torn down between those who thought they were culturally superior and those Turkish Muslim societies displaying a higher cultural form of arts.
If only US-ers had the appreciation of Dimash that the Chinese do... He certainly deserves it. However and with whoever he does it, Dimash is a true ambassador for global understanding and world peace.

It’s my understanding that autotune isn’t allowed in Chinese tv competitions, so we know this is his natural voice.
This was his breakthrough performance to a global audience (even though he was already an award-winning singer, having won the Grand Prix at the Slavic Bazaar in 2015).
lipsyncing is not allowed on live performances, but it is hard to autotune singer that changes his techniques every note anyway

Dimash did experiment with auto tune when he was at university, there are some early recordings and it may have been a subject they were studying at the time and it is so obvious it's ridiculous.

At age 5, it was noticed that Dimash had absolute pitch by his music teacher. Also, when he was not much older, the piano he used to practice at home, had been moved & consequently became a little out of tune, but most people wouldn't have noticed it, but Dimash told his teacher that he didn't like his piano at home because it gave him a headache. At that young age he didn't know that it disturbed him because it needed to be tuned! Absolute pitch at work!
Yes, Dimash sings all genres from Opera to pop, rock, jazz, classical, r&b & even raps in some songs. He was offered a place in the Astana Opera House, but by then, he had decided to pursue a career in neo-classic. He trains his voice every day & still sees his teachers whenever he can.

Hi Tim! I'm so glad you've decided to react and analyze Dimash. I hope you consider doing more. You mentioned that you have sung different genres which is great because Dimash has trained in many genres too. I'm sure others will tell you that he has been taking voice and piano lessons since the age of 5. Of course, you know how gently a young singer must be directed so as not to damage him vocal cords. He went to a special musical school (all the way up to high school), received his bachelor's degree in classical (Bel Canto), and another degree in Contemporary Music (jazz, pop) then received a Master's degree in Composition in 2020. He received a recommendation for admission for a Ph.D. in music focusing on the history and evolution of Kazak music (including the tribal/folk music of his country). I know he has studied some of the history and evolution of Kazak music but I'm unsure if he chose to do this on his own. Dimash chose not to take the purely Classical (Bel Canto) style because he wanted to have some freedom in the notes he sang. He calls his genre "NeoClassical". Hopefully, if you continue to review his music, you will hear some influence using traditional instruments from Kazakhstan. People who come to know Dimash appreciate him for his beautiful voice, his respect for others, his humility and desire for a peaceful world. Some people only talk about the high notes he can sing but in his earlier years, singers often competed on shows. You will discover that Dimash sings to serve the song. Hopefully, you will listen to "Sinful Passion".

He has a 7+ octave range, has songs in 16 languages, sings in almost all genres, and plays 7 instruments. His catalog is vast and varied, so anything you choose next will be amazing. Dimash was invited to appear on this show because one of the producers saw him perform in another contest. He was expected to last only a couple of shows. Overnight Dimash was a big hit and he won this episode of the show. This was the first time they let a non Chinese person participate in the show. Dimash was the first one to perform, he was the youngest person at age 22, he was the only amateur, and as I said the first non-Chinese person. After this performance, he was ask to remain on the show. Dimash came in second place, a lot of people think he should have been in first place. The other performers really liked him. They called him their “ foreign younger brother”. He still travels to China to perform at different venues. Dimash is not just an ordinary singer. He is a musician who plays several instruments, produces and directs his own music videos. He is the most modest, kind and gentle person you would ever meet. He loves children and has donationed a lot of money to Children’s Hospitals. He also believes in having a vocal coach. Dimash says that if Pavarotti can have one in his 70’s, so can he! His Chinese coach says that Dimash does not sing in falsetto, he’s singing in his natural voice! He also has perfect pitch, they discovered this when he was five years old! I absolutely love that he did the digital live concert I think on 2021. As a comparison both his singing and his pronunciation had improved a lot !!! He keeps learning and improving. He was so young when he participated in this competition. My favourite performance is from this competition. He is so incredibly focused and emotional when he performs, the performance of "Opera 2" was the only performance I've seen where he was actually having fun both with the audience and his fellow competitors. Dimash was 22 years old at this time and this was his first song on The Singer 2017, a contest between Professionals. He was the youngest performer ever on the show and was invited to participate as a wild card. He took the show and came in second only because they had 1st place picked for a long time performer who was getting ready to retire. Dimash performed 13 (some really amazing) songs on the show. Opera II followed this song and was performed the second week of The Singer. You are correct, no auto tune with Dimash, ever. He does not believe in it. Fans of Dimash are the lucky beneficiaries of his obsession with constantly learning new things to do with his voice. He's worked hard to extend his lower range over the years, developing a rich and resonant high baritone. It's become so natural for him, that it's no longer shocking to hear an entire song in his high baritone-low tenor. He spent several months living in Los Angeles sharpening his technique in R&B, which he apparently loves. Here Dimash is about 21/22. 1st time away from his family. Already very famous and winner of many prestigious singing competitions from a very young age. He is from Kazakhstan. So the comps he won would hve been in that area of the world ie Russia Belarus etc etc.
He was invited to this Chinese competition as a guest. He cud not win as foreigners were not allowed to. They changed that rule the following year.

Well, normally there is no wrong version of Dimash SOS, but when I hear show, it could be The Worlds Best and yes, the Dears, as Dimash calls us and that is why we call ourselves, react sensitively.

I really love everything Dimash sings, I love his way of wildly mixing all kinds of music and singing styles. I love it when he sings more operatic and I love it when he sings more pop. Dimash was literally all I listened to for 3 & a half years. NO-ONE else! After altering my reality, he filled my soul with so much, very needed, audible gold. I couldn't get enough of him, watching his everything, every waking minute day in, day out. He reconnected me to my heavenly soul.
Then I discovered Ren while scrolling thru shorts, and he too has had a life changing effect on me, but for completely different and opposite reasons. Ren has reconnected me to my human spirit. These two incredible artists are my saviours!

you are still just at the beginning. dimash's rage has changed so much since this very first appearance, it is mind blowing and you need to see much more!
You should keep the other version available, though. This isn’t the very first time you’ve heard him sing, and it’s so much fun to see vocal coaches and singers’ faces as they hear him for the first time ever. Admittedly the version you heard first (if it’s the one I think it is) didn’t give you the full experience, BUT you probably still had some “what the heck” moments that would be fun to see.
Note-one reason this version is a favorite is that because this is a vocal competition, there is NO autotune and a lot less engineering overall (little reverb, etc.). It’s a great intro to his voice. Dimash has perfect pitch, so unless his voice is tired or not warmed up enough, he’s generally going to hit notes pretty much spot on and if you hear him slide into a note it’s typically a choice rather than finding the pitch. Also note: he’s accessing those lower notes a lot more easily these days, but it’s the wicked high notes that made him famous so he tends to stay in the rafters.
I’m sure others will have filled you in that he trained in the operatic style and was offered a position in the national opera house of Khazakhstan, but chose to do his own thing-I love it when he sings in the classical style, but I get it-if he’d stuck with opera, he’d have been limited to tenor and maybe baritone- this guy could sing the entire Magic Flute by himself. He’s NOT an opera singer because he didn’t choose to train and focus on that kind of singing but there is a duet with Placido Domingo that you’ll want to hear. And yes, you’ more of the classical sound with Olympico.
More recently he’s done a couple videos that will let you hear more in the pop/rock/blues styles. You’ve got quite a journey ahead of you. Have some fun!
As for what next, I guess it depends if you want to follow his journey or jump around. You might enjoy his other song from this competition, Opera 2 (Vitas wrote it for himself, and he won’t let Dimash sing it anymore-LOL) . I love this version. There are recordings of him performing this song publicly, live, from the age of 19. Each one is, and continues to be as he moves through his career - different. Personally, I think this one is peak emotion... his bass has become stronger, though.

Although the stage setup and background of the Dimash Digital Show 2021 online concert Dimash put together for his Dears during the quarantine was fantastic. 🤗 The Dears were used to flying around the world to his solo concerts and missed him terribly when quarantine hit and interrupted his Arnau World Tour. He donated $500,000 of the proceeds from the concert to charity. He has a wonderful character that endears him even more to his fans.

A lot of people will recommend going on to a post-competition song Sinful Passion, and that's a great display of Dimash's innovative style combinations, but I urge you to come back to some of these live 'Singer' songs I suggested earlier to enjoy unrestricted video and the energy created between singer and audience, as I listed previously: Opera 2, Adagio, Autumn Strong, Hello, Daybreak, and The Show Must Go On. It's also nice that 'Singer' provides a great live orchestra. As a multi-instrumentalist himself, Dimash works very well with the live orchestra.

The first piece I ever heard Dimash sing was this composition. I understand it’s become a bit of a calling card and signature song for him.
