Carlin is very hit or miss. He was polished but not. Mainly because he didn't test his material but spent months writing it. As for comedy there are many types. parody, satire, truths that sound like lies and lies that sound like the truth. Dark humor, stereotype humor. Mainly humor is bringing people along a story and flipping the ending in an unexpected journey. Or you can get comedy that is like andrew dice clay where it is expected and the journey is the joke. One thing to look for is if you only hear clapping and little to no laughter from the croud. That is something you hear at a ted talk on roadways. You acknowledge the work was good and you enjoyed yourself but only a few people found the jokes funny.
My father was deaf. I was told that I should not say he was deaf. I should say he had "hearing loss." Then I was told not to say "hearing loss," but to say "hearing impaired." Just recently, I came across the official City of New York guide to language. According to that guide, I'm now supposed to say my father was - - - deaf.
You know, I can sometimes see "hearing impaired" vs "deaf", depending on the situation. Just depends on how much hearing loss you have. It's possible for someone to have a significant amount of hearing loss but not be deaf and still be able to hear to some extent. But yeah, "deaf" going to "hearing impaired" doesn't take nuance like that into account.
@@StormsparkPegasus True, though you could just say "partially deaf." Or for example "almost deaf" like my gramps. (If he's wearing his hearing aid and you talk loudly and clearly, he will understand half of what you're saying. :-)
@@taylankammer Yeah...my dad is another example. He has a great deal of high frequency hearing loss to the point where he is considered "hearing impaired" (from flying helicopters in Vietnam). But he can hear people talk fine for the most part.

Some things actually took an opposite turn. A lot of strong words like "rape", "racism", "nazi" and so on, are used to describe so many things that aren't even remotely as bad as actions those words used to describe. I think society is actually moving away from everything "soft" to making everything absolutely outrageous.

his voice was probably what kept us from going over the edge earlier. as soon as he died this PC language accelerated and there was no good voice like george carlin in the mainstream to show how dumb it was.
Carlin's point still stands, but the term "shell-shock" was associated with cowardice, i.e. soldiers who were shell shocked were considered cowardly and not as good, because there was no medical recognition of the term. That's why it was changed with time. But yes carlin's point still stands
Probably just as hard as the steel balls coming from the shrapnel/artillery shell. "Shell shock" has been referred to body damage caused by an explosion.
@Tony Wilson He would have a very long list due to the political landscape today. Regardless how you feel about Trump, He will have plenty of material on him. Also He will rip the P.C. culture a new one.
Every white person should spend some time researching the subtle evolution of the word Nation's definition over the last 100 years. It wasn't that long ago that being American, English, French or German meant you were white by definition. Funny how as we're stripped of the language to define ourselves as groups we are also stripped of our land and property. That's probably just a coincidence though.
@Tony Wilson Sorry for the TLDR, but I don't have to work today, and I think you probably interpreted my dog whistle correctly the first time and then generously chose not to leap to that conclusion. I am an unapologetic ethno nationalist, which is a phrase that had to be invented because words like patriot and nationalist have been corrupted (in my opinion deliberately). It's not that we're passively losing our identity. It's that we are being actively stripped of it. To be clear, I'm no fan of Trump, but during Trump's campaign Paul Ryan said Trump was a racist for claiming the Trump University lawsuit should not be presided over by a "Mexican" judge. Ryan said "to claim that someone can't do their job because of their race is pretty much the definition of racism". The media was quick to point out that the judge was born in Indiana. I used to be a liberal. One of the reasons I'm not anymore was watching liberals across the country pretend they didn't understand that Trump was very obviously saying the judge would be biased against him because of his campaign promises about cracking down on immigration and his claims that illegal immigrants from Mexico were rapists and criminals. When Trump called the systematic violation of our national sovereignty across the southern border a national emergency, the Mexican attorney general of California went on PBS to spew a bunch of nonsense about how it's somehow illegal for the federal government to enforce it's border laws. The importation of third world labor keeps wages down for working class Americans. Blacks are tricked into voting for it by being told immigration restriction from third world countries is racist. Whites are told opposing these policies is racist too, but since that doesn't always work, they're also told they're lazy, incompetent or entitled for not wanting to compete with desperate, starving denizens of the third world for jobs. Or they're forced to listen to some bullshit about free markets. I can't help but notice that wall street and the rest of the donor class would have benefited from either Hillary Clinton or Jeb Bush. Both were backed by the power structure of their respective parties, and both sought to court the growing Hispanic vote. I also can't help but notice that Bernie and Trump both wanted to put America's working class above immigrants and both were subjected to horrific attacks from within their own parties.
@@falonsfox2585 lol, the term ethno nationalist was invented by people like you to replace national socialist. Perfect example of what this video's about. And while I hate the terms racist and fascist being overused and misapplied in today's society, you are in fact a nazi.

That's because doctors are mostly mid-wits who are taught some phrases to impress low-wits. If you speak Latin and know a little about medicine, you only need them for their experience in diagnosis and drugs.
@@Dominian1... Ehmm no. Depending on field you need then for their knowledge, you make it sound as though you wouldn't need them if you would practice doing what they do, that is wrong though, you need a substantial amount of knowledge. They use Latin phrasis because it's custom, as it is in some fields of academics, which I personally do not like, but reducing a people who practice medicine to that is stupid. I'll give you right in the point, that there is little intellectualism involved in being a doctor, mostly it's just accumulating a vast amount of knowledge in one field, but I don't see how that is negative, unless a doctor claims to have a high IQ just because he is a doctor.

We didn't care, it was the great George Carlin. Still paid full price for the ticket and it was worth it!
I saw him live in '99 and he was doing the same thing, preparing with notes for his next HBO special. He would only refer to them sparingly, though, it's not like he was holding them in his hands.
@@Machiave11i Well his genius was in his vocabulary and pitch. He had an amazing ability to memorize a lot of material but it took practice. It would be comparable to an infant drowning from being force-fed the contents of a supertanker... It takes a fox to outfox a fox; no one puts down a New Yorker like another native New Yorker. And not just any New Yorker. George strikes me as guttural inner-city Bronx. Likewise it's gratifying just to see the cast of SNL cutting Trump down to size (More New Yorkers roasting one of their own) 😂😂😂 I can't help but realize the relief George W. Bush & Dick Cheney must've experienced when Robin Williams died... In the name of corruption, criminalized but legalized & normalized capitalism- - now the truest of American traditions- - the media has completely sold out to our lovely political system. Now that Ted Koppel, Mike Wallace, Morley Safer, Ed Bradley, Dan Rather, & numerous other unsung heroes are gone, investigative journalism, as the ultimate policeman of the government & the public's last line of defense, no longer exists. So now the entire political community & their true rich & powerful masters have exactly what they wanted all along: to do whatever they want whenever they want, no matter how felonious or murderous, & with no fear of punishment whatsoever. Not from the police, nor from the courts, nor from prison. Not even the certainty of public exposure! Now that the Press have abandoned the job, now we don't even have one maverick comedian left to hasten a political attack & open people's eyes to the truth when it is needed the most... And that is the final blow for me. I love my country: the lands, the wilderness, mountain country, & esp our people. But I'm finally leaving, before things really break apart at the seams, 'cause I don't see anyone or anything that's going to protects us- - the common people- - from the heartless tyrannical rich & powerful 1% anymore. There's nothing left in the law to stop them; no one left in law enforcement to stop them; nor are there enough lawyers that will stop them As far as I'm concerned, all that's left now is for civil war to take place. So now it's only a matter of time before the war that has been raging all along in the ghettos of East LA, of Chicago, & of New York city is going to engulf our entire nation. A war that's been raging btw impoverished blacks & racist police; a war that's been raging btw the rich & powerful & all of America's poor, regardless of color. The only safe place left for me is the Arctic Circle 😪😪

Ableds just get so uncomfortable seeing disabled people that they feel the need to call us "differently-abled" or "handi-capable," but the issue with that is that you have to see us as less then in order to feel the need to give us a name that you think will make us feel "just as good as everyone else" about ourselves. I feel fine? I don't need special labels to like myself. What's my different-ability? The ability to have my joints sublux if I lie down on my back? The ability to... fall over & get more injured than an abled would? The ability to look pregnant when I'm not due to bloating? I'm disabled. I'm fine with that.

Lol 🤣
I'm sorry for your dad's deafness, btw 🫂
You know, I can sometimes see "hearing impaired" vs "deaf", depending on the situation. Just depends on how much hearing loss you have. It's possible for someone to have a significant amount of hearing loss but not be deaf and still be able to hear to some extent. But yeah, "deaf" going to "hearing impaired" doesn't take nuance like that into account.

@Tony Wilson or Hillary or any of them 😂
Every white person should spend some time researching the subtle evolution of the word Nation's definition over the last 100 years.

FDR was saving America from the Great Depression, creating social security, as well as several other programs, and fighting the Germans, Italians, and Japanese in WW2.
If only George was around this last decade, he’d have more material than he’d know what to do with
I’m not “short” I’m “vertically challenged.”
I'm not retarded, I'm mentally challenged.
No you're compact
because now, we can't say the "M" word anymore; "little person," yes, but not "dwarf" or "elf." (at 5' 1", I get neck strains to look up at people because I don't have any yellow page phone books handy; not fun: Tony Cox, Peter Dinklage, Spudd Web, Brad Williams, Mugsy Bogues, the late Bushwick Bill (Geto Boys), Verne "Mini Me" Troyer, the late Herve "Tattoo" Villechaize, the late Hank or Beetlejuice (both are from the old Howard Stern Show). )
😂
No comedian has the same psychology in his show like Carlin. He's the only one who always has new material and covers any social issue. But he's down to earth and common sense in the most funny and sarcastic way!
You need to watch a few Australian comedians absolutely no political correctness
Donald Trump would have a contract on him for the humiliation & ostracism George would be causing him. It would be comparable to an infant drowning from being force-fed the contents of a supertanker...
It takes a fox to outfox a fox; no one puts down a New Yorker like another native New Yorker. And not just any New Yorker. George strikes me as guttural inner-city Bronx. Likewise it's gratifying just to see the cast of SNL cutting Trump down to size (More New Yorkers roasting one of their own) 😂😂😂
I can't help but realize the relief George W.
There's nothing left in the law to stop them; no one left in law enforcement to stop them; nor are there enough lawyers that will stop them
As far as I'm concerned, all that's left now is for civil war to take place.
The truth is funny 🤣
A lot of Dave Chapell's comedy is very similar. They both observe(ed) dumb stuff in society and then can articulate the stupidity of it. Everybody sees the same dumb stuff and that is why the comedy is so funny because people can relate to it.

one thing I wanna point out - disabled people mostly hate "differently abled." We didn't come up with that shit, ables did. We're fucken disabled, that's a neutral term. I don't feel the need to do the things my disability disallows me to do. If you call me differently-abled, I take it as a virtue-signal.
Today in Germany (not 10 years ago these people did), they say "You can reach EVERY Goal, u want" to an - ALSO VIEWABLE - handicaped person.
