    I saw his shows on HBO during the 1980's and have learned a great deal from this man. At first he may appear as a cynical old crusty fuck( which Carlin embraced many times. lol) But if you read between the lines, he was a man that sought truth much like Socrates. he had passion and most importantly he had an unwavering sense of love toward his audiences members. He knew, just like anybody else, that life is very difficult and he was unapologetic about it. He was a teacher of critical thinking skills. That's why I call him tough love George Carlin.

    Although I don't agree with most of Carlin's assumptions and conclusions, I can't help but admit his brilliance as a humorist. By the way, he probably unknowingly lurched into the truth when he "simplified" the Ten Commandments into Two. Theologians everywhere do agree that the Ten really can be summarized into Two, but not that way that he did it. The Two are: love God and love your fellow man.

    No one observed and dissected everyday occurances with as much wit as Mr. Carlin. It is OK not to like his brand of humor, but to say that he was angry, pessimistic, or anything other than funny is false.

    • @arckocsog253
      @arckocsog253 3 года назад

      He was pessimistic. There’s an interview of him saying that he gave up on people/society and he just looks at it for fun. I can understand him...

    I remember listening to one of his records back in about 1979--when I was 12--I found it funnier then. Makes me wonder if indeed some people hit puberty and their senses of humor don't get beyond that.
    Shocking is barely shocking anymore and it's a damn shame.
