Indeed. I never really got why he's classified as a comedian. 98% of his content is just him speaking his mind on rather serious topics. The stage is his soapbox. Sure he is funny from time to time, but so is the guy on the soapbox. It kinda reminds me of the Nina Simone thing and the "Mississippi Goddam". It kinda sounds like a show tune but the lyrics are actually a really bleak cry of desperation, pain and deep, black sorrow. But the audience laughed and enjoyed themselves, at least in the beginning. I guess even those most bent on having a good time started choking when she basically sang that they'd all burn in hell.

Because she's one of the bosses and it's her PRIVILEGE to act that way and treat lower level staff that way. @@micahbodha6129 The limo service is commonly provided by the organiser of such events as part of the whole deal. Carlos Bosso Except it's not his word against scientists. Any scientist would tell you that he's actually correct; we pose no threat to the planet. Animals? Absolutely. We're poisoning fish and wales who eat the plastic and sea turtles end up with plastic straws lodged up their nostrils. Plant life? Of course. We're deforesting at an alarming rate. But at the end of the day, there's nothing we could do to the Earth that hasn't already been done ten fold. And the Earth has recovered every. Single. Time. And will continue to do so. After 5 ice ages killed everything on earth, plants and animals included, more life bloomed in it's absence.

Kinda feel he missed the mark with that stuff though. I mean, the Earth is our habitat, so attempting to "save the planet" IS trying to "care for one another."
learning how to properly share this environment is the first step to saving it. We can't just not save it though, unless we're okay with disappearing as a species in a climate apocalypse of starvation, sickness, and strife.
it's strange how we think that some things could be amended in decades, or in course of a lifetime. humans have always had the same problems, for thousands of years now. think about wars, colonization, diseases. the same things have been happening for centuries and are still happening..we live in chaotic, mad, ok, a bit more sophisticated, but still mad world.

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding Carlin here. He's not saying that environmentalism is a bad thing. He's calling out our perspective of it. A lot of environmentalists make it seem like they're doing a favour to 'whales', 'elephants' or 'the planet', and of course, we're doing it for us. There's nothing wrong with that and actually I don't think Carlin thinks there is either. Just don't pretend we're doing something we're not. Moreover don't mistake our trying to survive as being good for the planet. It is, again, good for *us*, of course 'the planet' has no opinion of humans or anything else on it.
People should change the perspective towards themselves and once we comprehend, help to have a better place. The planet will react and will destroy the human race (or at least this civilization), but the planet will go on. Carlin is so right by saying, people is fucked.
Carlin was NOT talking about the average person who ACTUALLY cares about the environment. He was talking about the RICH WHITE BOURGEOIS LIBERAL CUNTS LIKE AL GORE THAT CLAIM TO CLAIR ABOUT THE ENVIRONMENT all the while living in million dollar mansions, driving GAS guzzling SUVs, and flying private jets that pollute the aire. You know, the FUCKING HYPOCRITES.

Yeah and most people will hear only what they wanna here to further reinforce their view on a world we don’t know shit about except how to profit from it somehow. After all money makes us all feel a little better and if a problem does come up just throw some more at it eventually it’ll fix itself. In my humble opinion...we are a travesty(for those of you who believe in god like me) it’s even in the Bible that god regretted ever creating us. He even flooded the world we still came back and found a way. He had to give his only son to die so that we could be saved. We are human and are a catastrophe to this world and one day we won’t be here. God bless
Well, the earth/universe didn't just need us for the plastic. It is also on a quest for knowledge. Cause you see, infinite useless space and pointless darkness is unacceptable no matter who or what you are. Therefore It has no fucking clue what it is and what purpose does it serve. Once we prove to be unable to comprehend its purpose and meaning, as per our biological limitations, it will indeed discard us like a bad case of fleas. But not before we provide it with the next mutation, the next step in evolution that will allow it to understand itself: the A.I. , the neural nework that provides all of the human knowledge's advantages and none of it's weaknesses. So yea fucking eachother does serve a greater puropse and we'll never need to learn to take care of eachother (political BS). It's the kind of skit that you needn't take literally, but just read between the lines.
M.I Popescu, Lol ... the earth has all the knowledge it will ever need. It's the people upon it that are lacking; in a great many ways. Rip Carlin ... you nailed it.
@Spoiled Hu dikkat hai???? Let's see in 30 years if you'll still be that optimistic about it. If memory serves me right, the most catastrophic scientific predictions about the melting of the ice caps in the north pole predicted that we'd get a gigantic ice meltdown in 2050 if nothing was changed by our actions. Guess what ? The prediction they did for 2050 happened... 2 years ago ! Even the most pessimistics observations and predictions made by by NASA, with all its most powerful computers simulations can't catch up with what's happening in real life because on Earth, EVERYTHING is connected with each other, and one little change at a tiny level can trigger a massive chain butterfly effect that no amount of advanced simulation can ever predict. So it really doesn't take a genius to predict that if scientists predict the end of mankind for 2100, in reality, it's gonna happen around 2040-50, maybe even sooner. In 30 years, I may not even be there anymore anyway, so I probably won't be able to continue this discussion, but you might be pretty surprised by how different the world will be in 30 years. Enjoy your last few years !

I think Carlin would roll in his grave if he saw how people interpreted this segment today. Carlin believed in climate change, but he thought humans had it coming for putting nature to the test. This segment isn't about shitting on climate change action, it's a mockery of our "Save the planet" rhetoric, because ultimately, we're trying to save ourselves, not the planet.
he was a political nutjob anyways. He would make bernie run for his money lol. Lets not even mention his backwards views of lynching people he disagrees with in front of a mob or national television. Politicaly and philosophically he is just like my dad, not to be taken seriously. They hate democracy but dont know what to use as a substitute for it. So i think concervatives actually using one his few LOGICALLY GOOD points to say a message is actually a plus.
I would say that he also at least was mentioning the fact that extinction events and worldwide cataclysms happened well before we got here and certainly well before we industrialized
"These white, bourgeoise, liberals who think that the only thing that's wrong with this country is that there aren't enough bicycle paths." I live in Los Angeles, and I miss George Carlin so god damned much.
The one thing he was conservative on was saying “over 90% of all species that have ever lived have gone extinct.” It’s actually well over 99%. I don’t know if the scientific community was at that percentage when George wrote this bit but it’s even more comforting knowing how insanely high that extinction rate is. But the bottom line remains: we were toast before we even appeared on this rock and that to me fills my heart with joy.

Just found out about George Carlin, I've been on a binge for 2 days listening to his content. Sometimes I close my eyes and it feels like he is doing standup in 2023. What an absolute legend
This is exactly what I've been saying all along. The planet is fine, in the long run. We won't kill it. We're just killing ourselves. We still need to "save the planet" in the sense that we need to save it for ourselves.
Well, it's not so simple. We are as humanity damaging the planet and we are doing it RIGHT NOW. And no, the planet wont be "fine". In the long run at least not in the sense of plenty and multi-diversity. So there is still a paradise that can be lost and we are losing it as long as we play out our potenetial like this. Quarreling about somebody elses self-importance and dogmatism, going shopping for christmas buying stuff that doesn't make us happy but therefore poisons the environment. We are living in a period that is called the Holocene Extinction Period (so look it up at wikipedia if you don't understand it) and we are fucking causin it! So again there is much to loose and yes the planet wil survive but it won't be better without humanity. It will be a shitty place for a very long time after we have injured it so seriously as we are about to do. And it is on you and me to change our attitude towards mother earth. I dunno how many of you consider themselves rapists who rape there own mother? So it is about saving the beauty and the diversity for those to come, humans and other species. Or diminish in a very degrading way. Yeah Mr. Carlin is right it is not about us, it is about our mother, but still it is us who need to change or suffer the consequences. Today and tomorrow
Garn Eep Dude did you watch the video and just listen to what this planet has went through before humans even came into existence? Did you research it as well. Other planets have sea storms going on everyday, Magnetic storms, Mars is is giant desert. And they seem to be doing fine. No matter what you say. Earth will still continue to exist without us.

Fuck this covid 19 lock down, we are a free soul and should not have our lives dictated by the government. Why don't we lock down during flu season which kills over 80000 every year. N
4 years later still watching, i love you for posting this. rip, the great George carlin
2019 and he is still right.
Lucky son of a bitch died before shit hit the fan..we are stuck with watching the endgame...
He isn't right because he isn't speaking about the real matter. Not "saving the planet", but instead "not polluting it".
@@warruor Do you think the endgame will start in our lifetimes?
@@georgehenderson7783 by the end of it ..i am sure..
@@warruor What makes you so sure of this?
"... And so are we, for a little while." Always makes me bawl my eyes out. Thanks for being here for a little while, George.

It's 2021 am still watching George. He was delivering the truth in an intelligent way masked with comics.

It's 2022 and I've just discovered him.

@@mamacat63 Yeah, I live in England, so we didn't get to hear from George over here. I'm catching up now.
George was EXACTLY RIGHT !
"The Planet isn't going anywhere; WE ARE !!!"
The atmosphere can go away though

@@222cubing8 If you believe the scientists who are paid off by the W.E.F.
We can and have saved dozens of species and ecosystems when politicians actually listen to scientists that’s why we still have a national bird 🦅
Made me tear up.... we're only here for a moment. Thankz George 4 that moment!
"Been through earth quakes, volcanoes, plate tectonics, continental drift, solar flares, sunspots, magnetic storms, the magnetic reversal of the poles, hundreds of thousands of years of bombardment by comets and asteroids and meteors, worldwide floods, tidal waves, worldwide fires, erosion, cosmic rays, recurring Ice Ages and we think some plastic bags!!?" I’m two videos in just discovered this man . One of the greatest discoveries I’ve found on RUclips . I’m surprised it’s not taken down. Thank god! Amen
A true genius in a league of his own. As my father used to say, "They broke the mold when they made him!"
R.I.P., Mr. Carlin. We could use some of your wisdom and humor right now.
not really that wise, but yes quite funny!
Fortunately, we do, many recordings exist even here on restrictive RUclips, as well as all his private recordings for sale on Amazon, etc.
THIS.
Ordonity Shit dude, relax or go to a madhouse, that's the right place for people like you.
Earth will still continue to exist without us.
food4j I'm tired of stupid fucks getting their info from comedians instead of reading some actually science from people who devote their life to such. Do you even know how many nuclear power we have? do you even know the power we hold? if we wanted , if every person tomorow wanted to destroy the earth . We would plant nukes on the moon , fuck it up , blow nukes to the planet's core , and put nukes all over the place for good measure. But before that , cut down all the forest and gather the coal and oil and burn them everyday for 2-3 years nonstop for so the greenhouse effect will be more fast. After all this , earth would be planet venus 2.1 with no future whatsoever.
20 years later, still as relevant as ever. RIP George Carlin, the GOAT
Really a bull as his sign was Tarus. His birthday was May 12
The planet isn't going anywhere. WE ARE! xDDDDD
Few years later and still gets me each time :D
Rest In Peace Mr Carlin. You were one of the greatest of all time. I come back to you whenever I need to hear some form of sense. Somehow it just doesn’t exist anymore in people.
