Love gothenburg. It's industrial in a beautiful way, has a bunch of classical architecture, manny parks and valleys, fun nightlife on the weekends. People always travel to Stockholm because it looks pretty, but Gothenburg feels more authentic in a way
There are a couple other places to ascend to Skansens Krona! Too bad you managed to find the one that was under construction at the time thus not being able to check it out. The 360 view from up there is amazing! During the summer it is filled with people congregating, having picnics, pregaming before going to the pub and what have you. There's even a restaurant up there in the actual fortress :)
Wow that seems like so much fun! And too bad I didn’t find another place to be able to go to the top. I always try to find a scenic view everywhere I go and the pictures I saw from there were amazing. Next time I’m back I’ll make sure to get to the top
Thats not Gothenburgs main harbour really, the cranes are not in use, they are just decorative now. The shipping harbor is out on Hisingen island and like 15 km north west. The manufacturing plant you were filming is just an incinerator burning waste to produce heat and power :)
@@landonkissell With Swedish measurements yeah, in many ways. It used to be a major manufacturer of boats and ships but that industry died. Nowadays Volvo and SKF with their suppliers are large part of the industry, fishing is also a large contributor to the economy along with some textile industry and trade in general. I think something like 30% of Swedens imports goes through the harbor and 50% of the container traffic so logistics also adds to it. There is also two university's.
I live in Gothenburg and it was fun seeing your reaction off my city.
Gothenburg seems like a great place to live! And glad you enjoyed!

@@landonkissell Check Google Maps next time and you'll easily find the other couple of places to get up there :)
Nice YT-channel btw!

Thank you for this insight! Is manufacturing still a big part of the city today?

The Dutch canals might have something to do with the fact that the Dutch kind of built Göteborg, about 400 years ago.
Wallonians mostly, so more like Belgians right?
Edit: Not really, I'm wrong.
Ahh makes sense!
Was there a heavy Belgian influence there?
@@landonkissell No I'm just straight up wrong here. Never mind!
@@KungKokkos haha all good!
