I got Midsommar flashbacks even though that Farmers Fest seemed perfectly safe and on the up and up. But the music and blues sky’s over open fields had me on pause. No knock to beautiful Sweden, I know it was just a movie. Thanks for another epic adventure!
Before there was mechanised vehicles all logging was done using 'heavy horses' to drag the logs from the wood / forest and make a building, these horses were specially trained for this type of work and it is now having a revival in many European countries.
I knew the guy who invented tunnbrödsrulle. His place ”Loffes grill” was close to where i grew up in Stuvsta, 10 minutes from Stockholm. One day he didn’t have the ingredients for something but he didn’t want to lose a customer so he improvised. He was a very nice man, missed by many.
That tunnbrödrulle is highly unorthodox. Lingon and pickled cucumber slices are very traditionally swedish - but putting em in a rulle is not. But - I'm not going to diss it! It looks great. I'd prefer that to the traditional tunnbrödrulle, which is usally just a cheapo drunk late night street food
And it's the equipage, both man and horse, working as a unit, that compete. Do you have any idea of how difficult it is to maneuver a horse in long reins that exactly that the LOG, hanging in a chain, goes around the poles? I have never tried that, but I have been driving horses, sitting in a two wheels cart a lot as young. Also training young horses to go by the reins, walking behind with no cart, like they did here. (Trotters/harness horses). But they had the log to consider as well, so I can imagen. On the other hand, I can understand that it's not the first choice of sport to watch for the majority of people 😂!
Not all those "rope" sweets are liquorice though. The rainbow one definitely isn't. The ones with liquorice flavour often have black on them. The Husaren Cinnamon buns are huge! Unfortunately I've never tried one just gone past and seen them. The farmers festival looked great. In smaller towns if there's something on EVERYONE is there because not much happens 😀
Haha we're pretty sure the entire town (and all surrounding towns) were there! It was such a cool, local experience. And whatever the ropes were, they were delicious 🍬

Ah "Bondens dag" at Backamo (in the beginning), been there also! direct translation would be a "farmers day", but a farmers festival is probably better. Not far from Ucklum where I grew up! about 10 (Imperial) miles :-)
The lady with the red hair selling gnomes at 1:17 is actually the aunt of my father, Siw. She makes these at her house and has been for all my 20 years of life, probably longer.
Fun story - Haga was a larger area before, and actually every old house you see today was ordered to be demolished in the 70's. My dad was one of the protestors :)
I think you handled your frustration quite well! The berries within the wrap look like pomegranate; which I love. I really enjoyed the farm festival.... farmers are similar everywhere and I love it!
They're lingon berries. Usually made into jam to eat with meatballs and other traditional Swedish food. You can pick them in the forest. They are pretty tart and similar to cranberries.
We were also really blown away by how much the festival reminded us of our small, farming town back in the states. It's always fun getting a glimpse into the life of others and seeing how similar and unique it is at the same time 👩🌾🚜
If it makes you feel any better, the cinnamon roles at Husaren aren't good, they are mostly dry because they are so big. So except for that it is cool that they are that big, you didn't miss out on the taste. But they do have the same size at other cafés in Haga.
The Tunnbrödsrulle is not an original, there version is more like a luxury sausage wrap, and the bread actuallt looks like a tortilla! In a rel Tunnbrödrulle, they use tunnbröd same concept but tunnbröd is very different from a tortilla (the only thing they have in common is the size and shape) A real tunnbrödsrulle is more like 1 or 2 regular grilled dogs, mashed potatoes, shrimpsalad, a few pickels, ketchup and mustard...

I didn't know you were to my home city! Sorry that they were out of cinnamon buns, they are really popular with the tourists. If you find your way back you should see the fighter jet museum (Sweden builds our own top modern fighter jets due to neutrality), visit a restaurant that serves Swedish traditional food called husmanskost, drink some nordic beer from a local brewery, and go to a proper swedish IKEA. And if you visit during the summer you HAVE to dance "små grodorna" with us somewhere in the gothenburgian archepelago! If you would wanna really dive deep into our culture you should visit the old defence installation that we used to fend of the pesky danes, and then just go from island to island during the boating/vacation season in the summer. Every introverted Swede comes out of their shell and socialise on these islands, to eat sea food (especially shrimps and lobster) drink beer, dance traditional folk dances on small docks and enjoy themselves with the beautiful blue sea in the background that later turns red and orange in the stunning sunset. I would especially recommend visiting Tjörn and Brännö Brygga. You would find people from every age and background there (spoiled youngsters on yachts, fishermen, regular families, etc), and they would welcome you to hang out with them. I think both you and your viewers would love it!

Trädgårdsföreningen = tree garden´s society/unity. The grass or garden part you have in your home is called a "trädgård", though of course it doesn't have to contain trees. Maybe it's related to how so many was household farmers back in the days and while flowers are nice and all typically maybe you focused on fruits, vegetables and berries, stuff you could actually live of rather than flowers. Or both. Tunnbrödsrulle = Thin bread roll. Not complicated. I guess the sellers (and Finish licorice sellers) may call that non-licorice licorice but I wouldn't do it since it's not. May be delicious candy of similar consistency though =P. Licorice is black =P
Looks like a county fair. Great adventure. Olives are great. Entire video seemed a little dark though was a little bit hard to see. Town looks delicious.
Gothenburg - The best place in the world!!! im really happy to see you came to my home town. Ohhh noes Jinx were not open, the foodtruck beside Korv United :( ...im having lunch there at least every 2 weeks :)

ALL the coffee places usually have cinnamon rolls, so you could just get it like at the next café. They are all good. I live in Sweden, but the cinnamon rolls in the US, are usually in HYPE-mode and on steroids, and they are AMAZING...♡♡♡
Thank y’all for sharing this is gorgeous!!! Got new ideas for my next travel trip!! Subscribed and hit that bell!! Y’all are awesome!!!! Look forward to the next video!!
That was not a Swedish tunnbröd, just a large wheat tortilla. Swedish tunnbröd is rectangular, and more tender. Also, should have gone for the classic, hot dog, mashed potatoes, shrimp salad (made with mayo and sour cream).
The farmers market made me laugh! You guys looked like you were having so much fun on the tractors 🚜! Those bunnies also!🐰🥰 I fell in love!! OMG! I’m sorry your day was ruined somewhat /: but I hope it works out for the rest of the trips in Sweden! 🇸🇪
Here's my American living in Sweden pronunciation guide for tunnbrödsrulle. tunn sounds like toon and bröd rhymes with hood then roo-leh. The hardest thing about Swedish run on words for an American though is what part to stress. In this case, the most stress is placed on Tunn and a little bit on the last sound 'leh' So. . phonetically a bit like TOON-(br)hoods-rooLEH. Hope you come back one day and have a better Gothenburg visit. It's a really great town.
That's one weird tunnbrödrulle O.o Lingonberries and pickle, and those kind of sausages? Wut? ._. The tunnbrödrulles I've seen in Sweden are made of regular hotdogs, grilled or boiled, and if course mash, and you can add the stuff you want to it... Like salad, ketchup, mustard, dressing, majonnäsgurka, I guess some might want toasted onions like there was in the video... Might be some more items you can add but I think these are the standard things. I usually go for boiled hotdog, salad, ketchup and majonnäsgurka, it's delicious! 🤤
As a swede, on pronouncing Trädgårdsföreningen, I give you a passing grade. 100% understandable. If you were to be off in pronunciation, it is nice that you put it on screen.
yes ,the thumbnail alone made me rewatch this because in all the cool pagan gods names XD some days..... i just love some good 'hand food' like a thinbreadroule on the way home ...its no where near enough for a full meal but its good with something you can chomp down on in hand without any forks or such and still quality food...when done right at least. guess its the same like with kebab... can get it in a roule ,or plate all up to if one is wanting it on the go or have a spare houer/space to sit down
For me as a swede, you still havent tried a real "tunnbrödrulle". It iws basically a Wheat and in some cases rye combination bread, with proper mashed potatoes (not powder) and sausage, here is where in my opinion the leywey is sausage is in my opinion either bullens pilsnekorv or sibylla korv. other then that it is usually some chopped onions and ketchup and mustard. What you ate with linonberry even though kind of typical swedish is in my taste not a tunnbrödrulle. Anyhow thank you for visiting our food culture. I have tried filipino and finnish and danish culture to the best of my ability so far. And i am loving it.

I love the video progression, like cool stuff than even cooler stuff promise than disappointment but vodka saves the day. Lolz, thumbs up!
Gothenburg - The best place in the world!!! im really happy to see you came to my home town.
Ohhh noes Jinx were not open, the foodtruck beside Korv United :( ...im having lunch there at least every 2 weeks :)
Hahaha så gött typiskt oss göteborgare att dra en sån go "bästa stan i världen" kommentar. Stan är ju fan kaos egentligen men ändå brinner hjärtat för Göteborg.
"Did that just squirt out? That's a real plump sausage" at 13:20 I knew it.
ALL the coffee places usually have cinnamon rolls, so you could just get it like at the next café. They are all good. I live in Sweden, but the cinnamon rolls in the US, are usually in HYPE-mode and on steroids, and they are AMAZING...♡♡♡
I love that you guys like a lil drink!
Oh wow I love the foods you are trying, looks like a lot of fun! xx
Thank y’all for sharing this is gorgeous!!! Got new ideas for my next travel trip!! Subscribed and hit that bell!! Y’all are awesome!!!! Look forward to the next video!!
👋 Great to have you all along for the adventure 😊
That was not a Swedish tunnbröd, just a large wheat tortilla. Swedish tunnbröd is rectangular, and more tender. Also, should have gone for the classic, hot dog, mashed potatoes, shrimp salad (made with mayo and sour cream).
It's so clean, wow
Video yang sangat luar biasa bagusnya. Love from Bali, Indonesia. 🙏🙏🙏
We loved the farmer's festival! The day definitely went downhill after that, but it was still a lot of fun and we still love Sweden. Don't worry! :)
She has a sweet voice. I love her a lot.
Cool video! For the locorice adventurers!
That was a bad tunnbrödsrulle.. My local dealer fills the entire bread with mashed taters, roasted unions and bunny food :P
”My local dealer” haha ursäkta men det lät så kul
@Kristof Alexy Food that food eats. You may quite safely assume that someone using the term isn't a vegetarian...😀
WHAT you're in my city?!? Now you must have been everywhere.
😂😂
That's one weird tunnbrödrulle O.o
Lingonberries and pickle, and those kind of sausages? Wut?
I hope you get a chance to go back to the Palm house. I'd love to see it.
Ohh! Nice to see you in my home town! Enjoy you visit :)
0.28 WTF, is that Annie Loof???🤣
Aw, shame when you have one of those days when nothing seems to go your way. The licorice was a good little ending though 😃
We love street food, that wrap looked really good!
Oh no, you guys missed out on the cinnamon rolls! That of course puts Göteborg on the "second visit bucket list" :)
☝️exactly!!
yes ,the thumbnail alone made me rewatch this because in all the cool pagan gods names XD some days..... i just love some good 'hand food' like a thinbreadroule on the way home ...its no where near enough for a full meal but its good with something you can chomp down on in hand without any forks or such and still quality food...when done right at least.
guess its the same like with kebab... can get it in a roule ,or plate all up to if one is wanting it on the go or have a spare houer/space to sit down
Sausage-now salivating in evening :D
Is there any Swedish Fish, in the rivers!? LOL
Ask the salmons and the eels. They'll tell you "We're cosmopolitans!" :)
Glad you enjoyd trädgårdsföreningen
And yes a am a swed
We love Sweden!!
Gran vídeo chicos, espero ir algún día!
