I started making melodies and got stuck in that same melody loop I made. Now I use pre made loops to not get stuck and create progression. Though it was funny you're moving in the exact opposite

1) Lay out bass notes
2) Turn bass notes into chords (have common notes between chords to improve smoothness of chord transitions)
3) Copy bass notes down an octave (adds depth)
4) Write a top line melody (hum it out to help find a melody that sounds good)
-Melody notes that are in the underlying chord are more harmonious, melody notes not in the chord tend to add more tension
5) Add filler notes to make chords transition more smoothly and blend well with top line harmony (based on your taste)
6) Add counter melody where space available (can use "contrary motion", as other melody ascends, counter melody descends)
7) Can split these melodic components into VSTs if you like
8) Chop up chords to your taste
9) Strum chords and randomize velocities to humanize. Can adjust different velocities manually afterwards to taste.

Awesome video again Rly! Would like to ask how do you determine blank space(4:55) for counter melody? You mentioned there's a good bit of blank space in certain parts and a little less at the 4th beat. Also glad to see your subs are increasing!
It really depends on what sound you’re going for. Depending on the progression you want to add more notes to make it sound fuller in some parts and in others not. Its really just ear (for me at least😂)
