would most definitely appreciate a part 2 brother! always a pleasure to get insight into other producers workflows & techniques. i would like to share 3 little tips for melodies that i've been using lately. (tip #1) doubling the bass or root, into an upper voice, then altering its rhythm, dynamic, adding passing notes, etc. this works because whatever the bass note or root of the chord is, they are the most stable notes in the scale. (tip #2) orchestration; create a chord or progression, then split the different parts into different instruments & across different octave/pitch ranges. this will allow the same chord to be heard, but across different instruments & you can solo/mute different ones whenever you need (tip #3) using the same melody motif or pattern, over different chord changes. this works by creating contrast, as the notes of the melody will function one way over the first chord & function differently over another chord. this creates various amounts of tension & color, while providing familiarity. God Bless! - Loh Pro
I have been getting back into this for the past two weeks and im starting to understand what you guys mean by if you understand a little bit of music theory thats all you need, and it really is, but if you want my advice from learning so far videos like this and music theory videos in general have made it WAY easier to watch and absorb the information from all of the other producer videos and follow along
Ah, yes, I must say that I find Rio's pedagogical acumen to be quite impressive. His prowess as a producer is matched only by his ability to impart knowledge and wisdom upon his pupils. One might say that he is the Obi-Wan Kenobi of the music production world - a sage mentor guiding his proteges to greatness. It is truly a delight to witness such an esteemed figure in action. Kudos to you, Rio, for being both a masterful producer and a brilliant educator. 🤓🤓🤓 💯💯💯 #danjelxgaldur2023
at 3:08, if the first shape is a minor chord, then why is the second shape not a minor chord before you change it? based off of what you explained (up 3 and then up 4 for minor, up 4 and then up 3 for major), you change it to the shape of a major chord. what's this mean? (genuine question, I am confused)
Guys if making music is hard... or daunting... try humming the melodies.. basses... you will end up making chords when all the notes come together. "experimenting" endlessly is not really gonna make you music. You will discover your own ideas..... but its not gonna make the music. Some other tips like layering you did not have to watch a video for. Sorry i wish YT would STOP promoting this kind of video to me..
no there's no cheat code. It's more about trial and error, with stacking multiple fx plugins. Once you got something that you like, make sure to save it as a preset!
That pitching up an octave is very counterproductive. I've always done that earlier, but it takes away the depth and the biggest "mistake" is if u pitch it up an octave u have no room to play countermelodies. That kills it. You could pitch it up 3 octaves, but not all notrs, just a few to make it sound more organic

Spot on! The only thing I would say is that the D resolves to G, as a V-I motion so it kinda workds regardless the distance, but it doesn't matter. lol

3:07 how do you know to put up 1 when its still up 3 then 4 for the minor scale?
Because root note is C4 for the minor scale so you go up 3 then 4 but when u go down it is 4 then 3
