  • As many of you already know I’m about to move to rural China this spring - and next time I’m in the US I’ll have to get some advice from my aunt about how to grow veggies and raise ducks because she has it all figured out 🌾🐥as for the part about building your own house… might have to pass on that one 🤣🤣
You may be wondering why this wasn’t posted with my other US vlogs. I got too behind on work and some videos couldn’t get edited in time, so I skipped over some things. Most of the unused US footage from this summer/fall I didn’t save, but some of it was too interesting to delete - like this one - and I finally got time to edit it so here it is at last, a few months late 😜

In regards to the questions about Wei -
First off, there has been some debate in the comments about whether it’s appropriate for people to be asking about Wei at all since this is my “personal life” etc. I just wanted to say, I don’t think by any means it’s inappropriate to ask and I am not offended by any of your questions and comments. I chose to share my life on the internet and this is what comes with it. I was originally going to wait until Wei agrees to share this and put it on all my video accounts simultaneously, which is why I have not responded to most comments about this, but it’s been quite a while… so for now, I am at least putting this out here on RUclips, the one social media account that always has been and always will be 100% mine. As for bilibili and other Chinese platforms, there is nothing I can do for now. 请不要把这个内容搬到国内平台。
Wei and I are not together anymore. This was not the result of any one sudden thing that happened while I was abroad or once I returned. There have been serious unresolved issues going on for several years and I honestly just ran out of patience. I am almost 28 and at the point where it is time to think about starting a family. As much as it seems that I am always on the go and will never settle down, it has always been my plan to have kids. I don’t think that either of us wouldn’t be a good parent, I just can’t see a future of raising a family together with the issues we have. We do not have a healthy dynamic to raise kids in and it is on me for not having the foresight to properly address our issues earlier. I don’t want anyone to think that I have been miserable all these years or something - for the most part, we were happy together, but our personalities clash in too many ways.
So, we are separated and it is unlikely that this will change. I know this is probably a shock to many of you but that’s how social media is, you only show the best parts of your life, relationships included. We have countless beautiful memories and created a lot of great videos, and I will never regret the almost five years that we were together but the issues in our relationship are beyond what I am willing to accept anymore. Please be respectful when commenting on this and no negativity towards Wei please, hate on me if you wish but leave him out of it. Thank you everyone for understanding.

Your Aunt is incredible. I love her homestead way of life. Seems so peaceful and serene-although with a lot of hard work no doubt. Sorry to hear about you and Wei. Sometimes, relationships don’t work out and it is no fault of either parties. People may be at different stages of their own personal growth and that may not be where their partner needs them to be. And never mind the cultural differences as well! I think you are very mature to take the high road. Ignore the haters. Every relationship has its merits. Just because you don’t end up marrying that person, doesn’t mean your relationship wasn’t worthwhile. Five years is a significant amount of time for a young person. I know, my first significant relationship also lasted five years. Neither of us were bad people. We just weren’t the right fit at that stage of our lives. Relationships require work, but they shouldn’t require constant work-if that makes sense. Everything always work out in the end. You are a special lady Katherine. Keep making your videos. They are enjoyed by many I assure you.

Nice place your Aunt lives reminds me when I was a kid where my parents like animals especially Ducks & chickens where i cant forget given their young ones strolling around , We do have goats & Pigs as well & tons of kittens / puppies . Urban areas are definitely different but its really your call to live in a much more rural areas & still able to work in a city . Some colleagues of mine takes time to still make their own Gardens harvesting assorted veggies & chickens / Ducks laying eggs believe it or not, try to sell the fresh eggs !. If your adventurous & willing to labor , then vineyards is the way to go as well especially where I work & live in California where homemade wine from its own vineyards , incredible . Living in rural areas is also a healing process from stress of Urban lifestyle to enable ones mind to relax, achieve a a harmonious serenity of inner self which is advantageous of prolonging longevity decreasing stressful unwanted substance in our system . You add loving animals like Dogs , cats , chickens , Ducks etc which is a win win goals in life .

What do you want? It's a simple question with a personal answer of a lifelong journey.

Hi Katherine, it's sad to know your and Wei's decision. I agree life cannot be always on moving wheels, but settled down, having a cosy small home to raise kids. From your videos, Wei is a gentle person, humorous, so I feel sad you cannot be together, but understandably so many cultural clashes. But life goes on. You will have your kids, 28 is still fine. When my only son was born my wife was 36 yrs old. Take care.

Out-House without a door will ensure people don't spend too much time in it, reading or otherwise. It is a good time-management tool, unless you put a clock in the john. Vermont is really cold in winter !

Katherine.... congratulations for doing what you want to do and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
I certainly admire the lifestyle you've chosen and wish I could have done the same thing at your age.
Trust you'll find your new partner soon, if not already, and I wish both you the best for the future. Take care...
    Regards from downunder..
